Whitby is a place that goes back in time.

Whitby is a place that goes back in time. Lovely town with lots of little shops, cafes and pubs. Lots of boats and boat trips at reasonable prices. Lovely church and Abbey at the top of the 199 steps. Lots to do for young and older alike.

We absolutely loved Whitby - there is plenty to do even if It gets rainy with children - crabbing and lots of museums - we literally could of stayed longer than three days - you can day visit easily Robin Hoods bay or a coastal walk which is stunning. We found the fisherman’s wife to be a great place to eat it was quality produce. Don’t eat fish and chips before you go as It’s full of those ha ha - we wanted different food and that was a little harder to find but we did -

Amazing Seaside Town full of history and charm.

Amazing Seaside Town full of history and charm. The Abbey is stunning, although overpriced (£39 for 2 adults and 1 child). I would highly recommend The Singing Kettle for breakfast. The best English Breakfast I have ever had!

    Whitby was a pleasant surprise!

Whitby was a pleasant surprise! A quirky town, with plenty to see and do and a great place where to hike from. Over the bank holidays the town gets very, very busy so better visit during the off- peak season.

The old town is lovely and the fish chips & sea food are excellent at the magpie. There is is something for everyone from ghost walks, lots of pubs, fine dining, the history of Whitby as a fishing port, to the ruined abbey which dates back over a thousand years. Whitby is on the edge of the rugged and brooding North Yorkshire Moors where you can visit Goathland the village where Heartbeat was filmed. There also links to Captain Cook and the whaling industry and the beautiful architecture of the Georgian housing in the town to Victorian splendour of the Victorian hotels on the west cliffs. There lots for kids to do from the arcades to the beach and crab fishing on the harbour. Wonderful place.

Whitby Abbey was lovely (we're already English Heritage members so it didn't cost us anything) - the 199 steps were easier than I expected! The town was quite compact but hilly. A real mix of visitors and a million dogs. Heaving with people, even just after the Easter weekend. Lots of amusement arcade places and fish and chip shops, also jet jewellery, if those interest you. Nice to watch the boats and birds. Steam train every now and then. Small art gallery in the park; whalebone arch and Cook memorial. If we'd stayed longer we might have gone to the Cook museum. We also went to Goathland (station was Hogsmeade in the HP films) and Kirkham priory during our very short trip.

Greatocatio for peace and quiet, not far to Whitby itself. Room. Very nice, strange lumpy mattress. Great views of the garden and visiting deer coming for the fallen apples. Restaurant food OK messed up food order sides arrivedcafter mains. Wine very over priced for a standard sauvignon. Charlie waitress very friendly but made a mistake and I was over charged £80. Hotel quickly resolved on calling them. Hopefully a one off. Didn't visit the spa but looked good in the broucher.

Pete and the team couldn’t be more helpful. The venue is tucked away nicely in Egton which is just outside Whitby. The hotel is full of character which is a plus for us. It feels like a very homely comfortable country pub. The rooms are well presented and spacious. The bar and restaurant area has plenty of space, a good variety and the food was sublime. I don’t leave reviews usually but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be coming back. Would recommend to anyone!

Loved it. Beautiful location in a hip part of Whitby, very close to the centre, room was gorgeous, clean, comfortable and spacious yet cosy... couldn't have asked for more! Loved the decor too, and the fact that all the rooms are themed around various Whitby legends - we want to go back and sample some of the other rooms! Oh, and the cafe/ bar downstairs (sorry, the name escapes me but it's part of the hotel) was lovely too and did a great breakfast and good coffee

Everything! The apartment was amazing, clean tidy, very comfortable bed, loads of space. Had a nice welcome package on the bed on arrival which even the biggest hotel chains don't do. We didn't hear anything from any other guests. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to go stay in whitby to stay here as its also in the perfect location as its only a 5 minute walk to the harbour/sea. Thank you so much for an amazing stay which made our get away so perfect

The staff were friendly and willing to help. The hotel is a short drive or good walk into whitby so quiet enough but close enough. The facilities were clean and had everything you would need - iron available from reception. The room was very spacious and quite grand with a comfy bed and the shower facilities were clean and modern. The stand alone roll top bath was a great touch, if a little shorter than anticipated by the pictures, but still lovely.

Very warm welcome when I arrived and helpful advice about local amenities. The room was very clean and comfortable. I didn't have dinner but breakfast was excellent and the serving staff were also first rate. The hotel is about ten minutes downhill walk from the centre of Whitby and just a couple of minutes from the West Cliff area. Parking was available but I parked on the street as I arrived late enough and left early enough to make this possible.

Great location, very comfortable and clean. A great place for self catering as the kitchen area was well stocked. Tea & coffee, sugar & some biscuits were supplied & even milk in the fridge (semi-skimmed would have been better than while but I know I’m being very picky). Small tubes of shower gel etc and clean soft towels. We didn’t switch the tv in but it was there and there was plenty of space & lovely views of Pannet park & Whitby abbey.

Right in the heart of Whitby, this was the first time we have stopped at the Angel Hotel. To be honest, the photo's we saw online didn't quite do it justice. The room had a modern feel, was clean and comfortable and we will definitely book again when we next return. We were on the 2nd floor and heard no noise from the bar below. It was nice to have a view of the harbour too.

Probably the quirkiest location we’ve ever stayed in, absolutely fabulous. Even though you’re smack bang in the middle of the harbour it still felt really tranquil. From the outside it doesn’t look big, but the layout inside is well conceived and feels roomy. Just a lovely space.
