The hotel was fantastic- cozy, inviting and delicious food. There was a fire in the fireplace on the chilly evenings. Breakfast was wonderful, and Debby, the associate, was helpful, gracious and kind. We would definitely return in the future.

A quiet little village in the north of the Lake District far enough away from the main towns of Keswick, etc. to enable you to enjoy the peace of the Lake District without the crowds. Some nice pubs in and around the village where you can experience the local atmosphere and mix with the locals. Best to have a car to explore the areas around the village.

Covers a Friday on an outward joyride <500 miles and an inward of similar distance on the following Monday. Allocated a large room at £119 on Friday and a noticeably smaller one on our return on the Monday at a rate of £129 - no explanation. The hotel allows dogs in dining areas and it was overrun, one customer had 3 dogs, all filthy. Hotel should allow in one area only

Good food, good beer and some nice wines. Friendly staff.

Good food, good beer and some nice wines. Friendly staff. My room was a little overpriced for what it was (a small double) would be very cramped if two people sharing, but was adequate for the nights stay I needed. I travelled down from Scotland on my way home to London and stopped on the way overnight just to get a dinner and some rest. The room was in front of a shared entrance so could be noisy and the other guest rooms were close so could occasionally hear talking and general noise. The window opens up onto the road and the car park opposite so can also get noisy if guests arrive or leave. The location of the premises is perfect for access to walks and the lakes.

Absolutely stunning location, views of the mountains, the waterfall, the lake and even the sea. Whatever the weather, it was gorgeous. So quiet at nice, with only the sheep or the chickens making the odd noise. The house is amazing, such a lovely atmosphere and feel to it. The bath was amazing too. Water gets very hot and really good pressure - much better than i get at home. It's also not too far from Keswick if you need to go to town (although it takes a little while to get to the main road!).

Beautiful old building with lots of original features, rooms are decorated to a high standard, sympathetic to the style. Plenty of parking and large outside seating areas in the beer gardens. Great menu and soups were delicious. Staff are brilliant. We choose this hotel as we were travelling with our dog and we were not disappointed - to say very dog friendly is an understatement. Great as a base to go walking or visiting the lakes, loved it.

Lovely cottage in a nice location. Keswick easily accessible by bus and car. Close to the distillery, which is worth a visit. Can't think of any real downside to the cottage. I struggle to keep the fire going, though that was probably my inexperience. The beds were comfortable, nice size lounge and well equipped kitchen. Village pub less than a 5 minute walk. Nicve area with some nice walks, though ours were limited owing to the weather.

Excellent location on the flank of Skiddaw and a short drive to Keswick. Ideal location for the North lakes and surrounding area. We liked the farm environment and everyone was super helpful. The interior of our room was exceptional. The window was a bit small but as we spent most of our time out doors it isn't really an issue. We were able to plug in our EV for charging.

Very comfortable room on the edge of Bassenthwaite lake. Generous tea tray provided with homemade biscuits. Flowers on the windowsill were a lovely touch. We made use of the fridge to keep breakfast & picnic foodstuffs. The luxury shower gel, soap & hand lotion were also appreciated.

We have visited for years since our honeymoon. It has changed and lacks the finesse and detail like fresh flowers and a lounge to sit in which most hotels have. We understand the changes are needed for it to survive and be economically viable.
