FAQs about hotels in Montreux

Somewhere to Love

Surrounded by Lake Geneva and glorious Alpine peaks, tranquil Montreux has enchanted artistes through the ages. Lord Byron was so inspired by the style and setting of waterfront Château de Chillon that he wrote a poem about it. Nowadays it is one of Switzerland’s most popular attractions.

Freddie Mercury also fell in love with Montreux and a lakefront statue in Place du Marché commemorates this former resident in typical pose, with one arm raised to the heavens. Queen fans flock here for the annual Memorial Day, just one musical festival hosted by this town. The most famous is the 2-week Montreux Jazz Festival, held in the Music & Convention Centre.

On the opposite side of town is Audiorama (the Swiss National Audiovisual Museum), near a funicular railway which climbs the hill. Further up the slopes is the family-friendly Rochers-de-Naye ski area, while the Les Pléiades pistes overlook neighbouring Vevey. Down at the quayside wooden chalets house stalls of the annual Christmas market.

Summer activities include boat trips, hiking and the Montreux-Oberland-Bernois narrow gauge railway whose trains allow you to really savour the views…and a nice cup of coffee.

The train station also connects to Geneva, site of the nearest airport, and Booking.com offers luxury hotels, apartments with views and cheap B&Bs nearby.

It's a wonderful small town on the bord of Geneva lake where you can find peace, quiet, meditate and reflect as you wish to find your inner self. It's different from other swiss cities and once you were here might understand why Freddie loved it so much.

Montreux is a wonderful region that one can spend 3-4 days in easily. The lake side views are phenomenal. One can choose from multiple options such as visit vineyards around Vevey, take a train ride from Vevey to Laussane (regional one not the fast trains), explore Chillon castle, do a trip on golden express or glacier express, take a trip to Roches de Nayers and just relax and enjoy scenic beauty of the region. Highly recommended

Montreux is a wonderful location to spend your holiday.

Montreux is a wonderful location to spend your holiday. It has many restaurants to dine at. The view of the lake is stunning. There is plenty of public transport, and with free passes you can travel all around the town. And also there are a couple of free train journeys for you to travel up the mountain side. And should you feel lucky, you can try your luck at the Casino which is just across the road from the Hotel.

Two night/three days in Montreux barely scratched the surface of all the things to see and do. The charm, the location, culture and sheer beauty, especially along the lakefront captured my heart. May it capture yours, too!

Great for using as a base for travelling. Good boat trips on the lake and recommended for the Christmas Market. Riviera card saved some money when travelling with free bus travel between Vevey and Villeneuve along the lakeside.

    Wonderful place.

Wonderful place. The city is confined in a narrow region between the lake and steep mountain, but still well organized without mess. There are several parking buildings which was ok during the jazz fest in September. So many wonderful places to visit if you take mountain trains from Montreux.

This is a tallish hotel in a wonderful location on the lake front in Montreux offering spectacular views and very comfortable rooms. It is a short walk from the station (although getting back using the up escalator is slightly easier than going down all the stairs if you have big bags). The breakfast buffet was excellent and the hotel is within really easy walking distance of lots of restaurants - and most of the tourist attractions in Montreux. The staff were very friendly and helpful and everywhere in the hotel was spotless.

It’s very close from the lake, so great walks, in 10 minutes you’re in the heart of Montreux. There’s a bus stop literally in front of the hotel, which is free thanks to the Montreux Riviera Card, very practical when you need to go somewhere. In the house there’s also a kitchen, well furnished, and a washing machine with a dryer. A large choice of foods for breakfast, with some homemade cakes like tiramisu or cheesecakes ! Everything is really clean. The host is also super nice and very helpful !

I really liked this hotel. The staff, especially the one named Guillaume, were very nice, friendly and helpful:) There's a lift, a great bar, amazing play list, and so on...I gave this hotel 9 points instead of 10 because it's going to feel hard to walk up to this hotel from the train station. But if you take the bus or drive, this location will turn out to be an amazing one to overlook the whole city and explore the old part of Montreux. Highly recommended♡♡♡

Exceptional location. Even the Fairmont Montreux Palace does not have this extraordinary location, quiet, right on the water with a breath taking view, and a terrasse next to the lake walking path. No noisy street between the hotel and the lake. Some renovated rooms, good breakfasts, good restaurant Very pleasant staff willing to help, especially Estelle and Rosemarie at the reception. Gorgeous sunrise and sunsets from our balcony on the 3rd floor.

Great hotel conveniently located, lift access to upper floors and our room had a small balcony we could sit on to take in lake views and sunsets. Very comfortable bed, bathroom was compact but worked fine for us. We opted for simple but adequate breakfast. Staff very helpful and we could leave our luggage in locked room to do some more sightseeing before we had to catch the train. Thank you staff for your help during our stay in Montreux .

Delightful stay in an idyllic location - the hotel is an absolute gem of a property, and the restaurant provided a fantastic dinner quite late on our arrival evening. Although the tickets aren't cheap, the hotel is right next to the funiculaire which takes you right up to the top of the mountains at 2,000m, with some unforgettable sights (and option to walk back down). Will definitely be back on our next trip to Switzerland!

Great services from the staff and the manager for taking care the well being of the customer. Offered an upgrade to High floor room with balcony from the manager, which allow us to enjoy the scenic view of Montreux. Breakfast option is fantastic, in fact one of the best breakfast I had compared to the other hotel. Cost is slightly expensive compare to the surrounding hotel, however this worth every penny.

Wonderful peaceful hotel above Montreux. Room was very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was excellent with many choices and fresh bread and pastry options. The restaurant and front desk staff were attentive and engaging. Our group of four from Alaska also enjoyed two gourmet dinners at the hotel restaurant. Easy walk to cogwheel train stop. Highly recommend!

We got a free upgrade to a junior sweet as it was free, and it was fantastic! Beautiful balcony and a very classic and overall well maintained hotel. The reception staff were lovely and welcoming and the food in the restaurant was good and well priced (for Switzerland and Montreux). The pool and wellness facilities are a highlight.

The room was well stocked with toiletries and the double bed was nice and spacious. We had a lovely, large window which provided a view over Montreux. The wall images were a bit weird but Tralala is generally a quirky hotel. The bar/resto is open until 23h and the staff was helpful and kind.
