We loved this town - it was historic but had a modern part too. Easy to wander around. We randomly booked it as a stop over to recover from a long flight from Auckland to Paris on our way south. We were wonderfully surprised. Included an easy day trip to Chambord.

Beautiful city so much to see just roaming the streets you get the feel of times gone past.
The roads are steep in places and there a lots of flights of steps.
but it is so lovely you loose time so you do not realise how far you are going.
The cathedral is amazing some of the best windows I have ever seen.
There are quite a few places to sit and eat and prices were pretty reasonable.
We traveled into the city by bus which was cheap and frequent.
but after a full morning we thought we may get a taxi back
Don't try and get a taxi at lunch time they are non existent.
We waited 40 mins at the station along with 4 other couples all having phoned for a cab.

Bourges exceded our expectations for a short stay.
Bourges exceded our expectations for a short stay. Our trip coincided with annual music festival which meant the town was busy and vibrant. Most venues were open even though it was early in the season. Old town is accessible on foot. Impressive cathedral. Lots of food options. Had pizza at La Scala, good food, reasonably priced. We learnt that Bourges was once the capital of France. Well worth a visit.

Perfect for stopover halfway down France.
Perfect for stopover halfway down France. Restaurants in vicinity were great, unless you are a vegetarian, (but it's France). Great choices for breakfast, great coffee, cereals, fresh bread and croissants, yoghurt, crepes, fresh fruits, boil your own eggs - what fun!

Bourges is a delightful, mediaeval town in central France.
Bourges is a delightful, mediaeval town in central France. Visiting for the first time despite many years fo travelling in and through France, we were delighted by the cathedral and its environment - the architecture is spectacular. We were treated to further appreciation of the façade by a local passer-by.
The town is a delight - twisty, narrow streets with lots of interesting little shops, cafés and restaurants. We found a very pleasant Italian one called 'La Scaleta'. Reasonably priced and some delicious italian fare on offer.
The host was wonderfully kind and hospitable. The property was incredibly beautiful, in museum calibre condition and everything was impeccably clean. Our room had a wonderful bathtub (with shower) and there were robes to wear. There was an absolutely divine breakfast in front of a roaring fire in a gorgeous and elegant dining room. This was my 11 year old daughter’s first trip to France and she felt like a princess. It was such an beautiful place and an incredible experience.
Merci.
Easy to find and good parking for a city centre hotel., Every member of staff was helpful and had enough English to make our dismal French not a problem. The room was as they all are in these type of hotels. The bed was extremely comfortable, the tea making equipment was adequate. The evening meal and service was very good, as was the breakfast Staff were excellent and good natured. We have stayed there previously and would stay there again. Well Done Ibis Bourges!!!!!
The proprietor (Anthony?) was extremely welcoming and gracious. Although he had previously agreed to store our luggage when we arrived in the morning by train, he actually went out of his way to have our room prepared early so that we could get a head start on our visit of Bourges (including suggestions for places to visit that we had not previously contemplated). He also very graciously agreed to give us a ride to the train station upon our departure.
A very comfortable stay. The hotel is very close to the centre of Bourges, and with free parking available close by, it made it a very easy place to be. Reception staff were all very pleasant and friendly, and were able to give us useful information. Our room was bigger than I had expected and the bed was comfortable. We had breakfast on one day and there was more than enough for us. No complaints at all.
Le Cedre Bleu is not a stereotypical hotel. It is a bit quirky, but the welcome was genuinely warm, and the staff member on duty was genuinely helpful and flexible; it was far more than just good professional customer service. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and a good size. The location is excellent between the marais and the oldest part of Bourges, an easy walk to attractions and restaurants.
Very nicely decorated hotel, we had a nice modern room towards the back which was very quiet. We were welcomed by a lovely lady who was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is superb, you have to reserve a slot (covid-rules), fresh home-made breads, wonderful coffee.
The hotel is located near the train station, has secured parking, but is a 15-20mins walk from the old town and restaurants.
Hotel the Panette is an historical mansion within the historical catre of Bourges. It is at 1 minute walking distance from the Jaques Coeur palace and five from the wonderful gothic cathedral. The structure is a reinassance building, with XIX century styled forniture. The room was big with a small kitchen and wood table with nice rooftop view.
Located in the heart of the old town of Bourges. No parking on site but public car parks close by (although we parked in the street). Good-sized, well-appointed room with plenty of electrical and USB sockets. Extremely comfortable bed and bedding, and nice bathroom with good shower. Separate toilet. Lovely staff.
Everything was just perfect, from beginning to end. Very warmly welcomed, beautifully decorated establishment and room, cozy bar, swimming pool and breakfast area. Highly recommend this place for a pleasurable stay in Bourges!
Great location, just off the motorway. Friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable. Parking on site and well lit carpark. Few kilometers from Bourges centre. Great stop over hotel.
The period features of the hotel were lovely and the location (15 walk to the centre of Bourges) was great. Our family room was a good size and the breakfast was good.
The location was perfect. Only a 10 minute drive to the town of Bourges
Breakfast was excellent and staff was very friendly. Room was large and very bright
