Montélimar is a cute little town & Rochemaure nearby is a short cycle from there & back - all on dedicated bike path. I recommend sending 2 nights at Le Jardin in Montelimar & taking à day to cycle to Rochemaure & visit the town.

My bag was stolen from the train en route to Marseilles airport when I left. The police said that Avignon is a hot spot for this.. Anyone is allowed on the train platforms and apparently thieves wait at the stations and grab any unattended bag when the train stops and the doors opens. I had no idea.. I was sitting below it and it was too large to fit on any of the baggage racks so I left it at the top of the stairs.. It was devastating as it was full of gifts and all my clothing and I was en route to a cruise in the North Sea.. I highly recommend that other travellers take care on the French trains.. I was too trusting and did not know of this common practice... Karin Morris West Vancouver Canada.

Pleasant and lively French town.
Pleasant and lively French town. The Tourist Information Office gives you clear indications about what to see and do in the time you have. Plenary of shops and places to eat. The only problem is the scorching heat in the summer.

A nice castle but the city is like other french cities not that nice because there are no nice shops in the center and everything is closed. The city center is very dull but it has the potential to be very nice.

The focal point in the town centre is the beautiful avenue of plane trees, with bistros and cafes. Would have liked to have been able to go inside the castle, however this was closed as an art exhibition was being set up. If you have a sweet tooth, the nougat is fantastic!!
It's a great place to stay for a long weekend or short break.
Everything is lovely: the house, the large rooms, the luxurious bedding, the garden, and the refreshing swimming pool. The breakfasts are exemplary, as are the dishes they are served on. A ten-minute walk from the park and restaurants makes the location perfect for visiting Montélimar, which itself is a good base for visiting the many villages close by.
Best of all though are our charming and convivial hosts, Clasien and Daan who are ever-attentive and assure that guests feel welcomed and at home. A real pleasure!
Nice place, not too expensive, comfortable bed, and quite clean! Private parking was superb.
Supermarket and a couple of fast food restaurants were nearby. Couldn’t find any restaurant to sit and eat, most of them were closed permanently. There were many nougat artisan nearby to buy if you wanted. That was amazing.
Montélimar is cute to walk around. It is a pity I don’t have time to try the wine.
A lovely character hotel in one of the squares in Montelimar. Good private parking. Very friendly helpful staff. Our bedroom was on the top floor. There were two arched windows overlooking the Square. Lots of beams. Great character. Comfortable bed and modern bathroom. We also had two little sweets of nougat on our bed!
We travel on a regular basis through Montelimar and staying at B&B Sud is always a pleasure. The staff is friendly and speaks English, the rooms a big enough, check-in and -out is done in seconds and everything is confy and clean. We had so many disappointments with other hotels in the region, this B&B is the best choice
This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. The staff were friendly and helpful and they provided safe storage for bicycle. The room was large and nicely decorated and was very clean with good lighting. Excellent choice for breakfast with nice coffee. Great location close to historic centre.
Brand new appartments fully furnished with kitchen. Very nice beds. It's an appartment building for senior citizens and the non occupied rooms are available as hotel rooms. Very friendly personnel, very well organized. A big thumbs up! Very close to the city center.
We particularly appreciated the kindness of the owners, the breakfast by the fireplace and the easy parking.
The hotel in the centre of Montélimar, France, is right in the heart of the Drôme Provençal and very close to one of the oldest nougat factories.
A bright friendly hotel with lots of colourful decor and a fresh feel. Lots of emphasis on sweets and Montelimar's nougat heritage! Great for families. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Close to the town centre and plenty of restaurants.
Auberge La Pignata was the perfect place for us to stay in Montelimar. The concierge / waiter was very kind and put extra effort into making our stay unforgetttable. Would definitely recommend!
Good location near the park and train station, which is why we chose the location. Nothing fancy, just a simple hotel for 1 night in Montelimar. Didn’t take breakfast, but it looked OK.
Old hotel/restaurant outside of centre ville, easy to reach via the river bicycle path. The restaurant on the first floor was a delight with superb staff who also run the hotel.
Nice comfy hotel, ideal when passing through or staying a few days.
Complete buffet breakfast with all the basics. Big underground parking and close to the center.
Awesome hotel for our bike touring stop. Spacious and pleasant rooms with high ceilings, kettle and good shower. Good bike storage and very good breakfast.
