Bally mote is a small town with a big heart; close to Sligo and many other visitor attractions. It is an ideal base for those taking part in the Annual Sligo Camino which is a one day trek of 36 kms run by the Coolaney Community. This takes places every year on the first Saturday in July. The Coach House Hotel in the centre of the town has very good food; I have stayed there several times. Nearby is the Eagles Flying Centre which houses a number of Birds of Prey who are the main attraction .Well worth a visit if you like to spread your wings with the real thing!

It is a good place to stay if you want to visit Sligo Town...

It is a good place to stay if you want to visit Sligo Town but you find that all of the accommodation in Sligo Town is either fully booked or too expensive. You most definitely need a car though. By car, Sligo Town is approx 25 minutes away, which I think is fine, considering you can find accommodation in Ballymote for about half the price of a budget-priced guesthouse in Sligo Town. There is a train station in Ballymote, which is only two stops away from Sligo Town (about 25 minutes). But based on our experience, the train seemed to be extremely unreliable, being delayed by about two and a half hours (we were told) on one of the days (we didn't need to catch it that day though, my son just wanted to see it arrive at the station). And then it was delayed by 40 minutes the very next day (when we were actually using it). So I would not want to be relying on it as our only means if transport.

Lovely quiet little town but hard to judge during a pandemic. There are shops and restaurants but most were still closed. We were attending the White Hag event at the brewery so we ate and drank there. You can walk almost anywhere in Ballymote, weather permitting.

Didn't really spend long enough to see all Ballymote had to offer. Just used it as a base for attending a match in Sligo town. But I did notice that there was a few shops and services in the town. Also seemed to be a number of interesting tourist attractions in the general area that I would love to return to visit.

Fantastic old cottage oozing with character. The owner Roderick was very friendly and greeted us at the main house on arrival and showed us to and around the cottage. The cottage is located on a large historic estate with interesting walks and a Templar Castle from the 12th Century, all of which we were able to explore during our stay. It is a very relaxing cottage to stay at and makes a perfect base to explore the surroundings. Sligo town is just a 20 minute drive away and Ballymote is just a short drive away to get any provisions.

Location was among fields of sheep and cattle, very rural and wonderful. Short distance to Ballymote, Sligo Co.- a nice town with a wonderful restaurant our hostess Anne recommended, Coach House Hotel and Restaurant. Enjoyed the sounds of cows mooing and birds. A community small kitchenette afforded us the opportunity to make breakfast before heading out for the day. No coffee maker, but Anne had instant coffee and tea available. Outside sitting area to enjoy the scenery with our coffee and tea.

The breakfast was outstanding with a great choice and beautifully prepared. The hosts are an exceptional couple and nothing was too much trouble. On the first morning owing to a 5.00am start for an adventure day the host Peter, put together a bag of goodies to replace the breakfast that I wouldn't be there to sample. The standard of the accommodation is equivalent to a 5 star Hotel in one of the worlds biggest cities

Wow ! From the minute we pulled into the driveway we were treated like family. Their home and gardens look fabulous. The homemade breakfast offerings were absolutely over the top ! There are plenty of dining(and drinking) options within walking distance. Take a nice short stroll through the pathway that leads to the ruins of a castle and then winds through a charming village park. Thanks for having us …..Nick and Kim

The best thing about this place is Anne who owns the property. She went above and beyond our expectations. We got caught in the rain at night and Anne actually came and collected us. She also dropped us to the train station in the morning. The property was clean and well maintained and the communication of Anne made us feel very comfortable and welcome. I will be staying here again on our next trip to Ballymote.

Lovely spotlessly clean and warm accommodation, with a shared kitchen for guests' use - really handy for us as we were staying the night before a mountain bike race and it meant we could sort out our own breakfast easily. Anne was great, welcomed us there, and left us to it. Very quiet location, and within 20mins of the MTB trails in Coolaney. Got food in Ballymote on the night we arrived too, no complaints.

The host, Anne, met me on arrival. She was very helpful. The property has wi-fi and a kitchenette though neither of these was mentioned in the description on booking.com. The property is a short distance from the nearest small town (Ballymote) which has shops and a restaurant. There are good views over the surrounding countryside

A lovely stay with Ann, who strikes exactly the right balance between being available and giving you space to relax and enjoy. The views are spectacular, Ballymote was within walking distance and there is WiFi! Looking forward to returning with friends to take advantage of the upcoming Afternoon Tea and craft opportunities.
