I loved this area, and the bus can get you to the town and there's plenty to eat and explore in town BUT to get to the beautiful ashdown forest or forests/farms around, I would recommend having a car.

We booked for our anniversary and it was exactly as we had hoped. A little bit of luxury, solitude, and relaxation. The food was excellent (although a little slow in the restaurant). The room was very comfortable and spacious. The grounds are delightful for a walk (we did 4km, but there are shorter walks). The staff were all friendly and helpful and the relaxing back massage was amazing! We made a good decision to eat in the Brasserie on the second night as it was more relaxed.

Forest Row has some lovely independent boutique shops, restaurants and there are other lovely places to visit nearby too. Ashdown Forest has many walks and a visit to Pooh Corner and Pooh Bridge is a must ... or it always is for us!

Property is situated along the road but was still quiet.
Property is situated along the road but was still quiet. Beds are soft & comfortable. The owner was also very hospitable. It is actually a property with so much potential. Unfortunately, the owner doesn't have staff to help him provide full service such as keeping the bar & kitchen going. Hence, it is basically a place to sleep. Not a problem though since there are café's just outside of the hotel.
Disliked · Sad that it cannot provide full service due to lack of staff. I can imagine how wonderful it would have been.

The Forest Row has a lot of rooms, mine was clean and well presented, the staff was very helpful, plenty of parking.
I was part of a large motorcycle group touring the area, so being a large group can be difficult, but all was accommodated for without hesitation.

I loved the tradition and the character of the hotel.
I loved the tradition and the character of the hotel. It was full of history and the location in the forest looked beautiful, although we just stayed the one night and then travelled to near by family in Haywards Heath !! However, the hotel is in need of urgent upgrade of curtains , carpets etc. The hotel looks very tired.
I had a small but lovely, clean and decorated well double bedroom. There was a smart TV which is always a bonus allowing you to sign into Netflix/Amazon instead of the usual boring free view channels. The wi-fi was free and strong, the full English breakfast was fantastically tasty and the assistant manager a really helpful and nice lady. Overall a perfect place to stay, dog friendly and great location, would definitely recommend and stay here again. 10/10
Loved the grounds and the hotel . The staff were very accommodating and professional particularly at dinner and the lady in the reception for the spa and golf was excellent. We also loved the lunch in the brasserie , the chef was excellent and superb quality goats cheese so recommend that. We also really enjoyed the driving range . Overall a beautiful bit of countryside in driving distance from london for a weekend getaway.
The room was clean and I appreciated that I could turn the radiator on and that immediately it became warm!
I also appreciated, that the Hotelmanager organized a room for me where the noises from festivities weren't loud and I could sleep well. That the key-card also is used for monitoring the light is very useful.
It is a historic building with his own history and is very british.
The mattress itself was comfortable. There's a hot water heater in the room with tea and shortbread cookies! The hotel was on the bus line and the stop was right outside. It had a nice garden outside. There was plenty of seating for eating, drinking, and waiting. The shower pressure is great. The staff were overall friendly people and kind.
Accessibility was a major setback, getting to work and town was quite a Herculean task as the bus from the high street was often delayed or never showed up. And the taxis, cab or uber and bolt were not available at forest row, So these made quick moving around really dificult and logistics quite expensive.
Great place could do with a little upgrade like carpets in rooms need replacing , shower screen instead of curtain , beds are so comfortable , staff are great more helpful & happier than those at Ashdown Park hotel & country club down the road where we went for the wedding during our stay at roebuck ,
Quirky, no frills unpretentious accommodation in the centre of Forest Row at a good price. Friendly, easy going senior proprietor. Room had en-suite bathroom even though we did not pay for one. Very clean. Kettle in room. Two double beds for £67.
Very nice small cosy hotel ! Very clean , good size rooms ! Good location too , restaurants and bar around ! Very cosy English style restaurant with friendly staff and good food , cold beer and nice staff ! Highly recommend
I really enjoyed the coziness is the hotel. I feel the whole building has a lot of history and has seen a lot over it's many years of service. The staff was lovely and the food served at the restaurant was delicious!
The hotel is in a good relaxing sleep area , with good access to shops. Hotel is well equipped with everything you need to have a good stay and adjoining bar is great. Staff are very friendly and welcoming.
The hotel is in a beautiful part of Sussex and is very well located for Gatwick and the south coast. The buildings and grounds are impressive. There are many reasons to spend time in the area.
Nice location, no problems parking nearby for free. Village was accessible on foot and shops open late, with several pubs. Ashdown Forest and the High Weald are nearby for walking and relaxing.
Sadly still no breakfast. Bathroom needs updating and wish I could have had the same room as last time but otherwise a nice room in a nice hotel for an okay price
GREAT HISTORICAL HOTEL IN A CHARMING TOWN. KIND HELPFUL & HOSPITABLE STAFF. WE APPRECIATED THE TRADITIONAL LAYOUT WITH THE TWO QUEEN BEDS AND ENJOYED THE TOWN.
