The Suffolk Hotel, hotel in Haverhill

The Suffolk Hotel features a shared lounge, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Haverhill. This 4-star hotel offers room service, luggage storage space and free WiFi.

Friendly staff, bed was very comfy, bathroom was nice and clean with good shower/sink/bath. Water was very warm very fast, facilities were generally quite clean too. We asked for an extra pillow as well for my back issues and they happily gave one to us! They were very comfy and the bed was very nice too. Convenient plugs and usb plugs and lightswitches by the bed too. Good lighting, windows easily closed, felt quite secure and comfy cosy and private. Was pretty quiet considering it's above a pub. When we checked in advance to book and looked at the prices, they were more expensive. We ended up booking a week in advance and it ended up being cheaper for a room than it would be in the local travelodge. Honestly pretty worth the price. Didn't try the food add on extra's as wanted to save money but it was nice they had the option. Also like that theres an entrance both at the front and back of the building during the day. Right in the middle of haverhill and right opposite a spoons so good location too. Right by the bus station as well. Free wifi, kettle, fan (did rattle a lot though), radiator, safe, hangers, lots of drawers, mirror vanity/table, lots of pillows, do not disturb sign, lock on the door, curtains covered the windows well too, overall pretty decent hotel. Would stay here again next time i'm in haverhill for the convenience and generally comfy stay. Very random vape vending machine downstairs too which was weirdly convenient, but it did give me the wrong flavour :/ good thing i like strawberries anyway lol!

One main high street, with a entertainment complex...

One main high street, with a entertainment complex consisting of a couple of restaurants and multi-screen cinema off the main road behind it. There are a lot of empty shopping units on the high street. Pubs wise : The Royal Exchange - seemed like a locals pub with lots of screens for sport. Quite busy early evening Saturday. Nethergate Ales on. Not sure on food times as no-one was eating but there were sauce bottles about. Queens Head - oldest pub in Haverhill - appears to be a bit dirty with dusty glasses hanging above the bar. TV for sport but I think its just terrestial no sky etc. No food and Cash Only. The Bull - easily the best pub with two pool tables and well kept Guinness. Drabet Smock - Typical Weatherspoons but quiter than most with plenty of tables available. Not many drunks rolling about either, Nine Jars - it is said to be Haverhills place for the younger people with music and other bits to keep them amused such as a selfie booth. Well all I can say is the young people of Haverhill must have gone into Cambridge that night (saturday) as it was not busy at all - however the music was too loud so we didn't stay. Anne of Cleeves house worth a walk upto. Haverhill is a perfect location - just half hour from Newmarket Races, and you can plot a decent route down some narrow lanes to avoid traffic. Not sure what its like on Guineas weekend etc - but on a normal race weekend it was a good choice.

AVOID for all conferences!!! Absolutely dreadful!

AVOID for all conferences!!! Absolutely dreadful! As a Director within an international Group, this is by far the worst treatment I have ever experienced. If you are planning a conference…AVOID!

Haverhill is okay as a town, but there's not really much there and the high street - like many in the UK - is a bit run down. It's okay to stay in, but I wouldn't see it as a destination in it's own right.

Lovely little self contained studio, well appointed, clean and great value. Everything from access to the property to the items in the fridge was done so well. I've stayed in hotels paid three times as much and not enjoyed my stay, so this was perfect for my wife and I. Contrary to what some have said about the bed looking like a foldaway, the mattress was firm and comfy, slept very well.

Excellent pub Accomodation at a great price, but it’s the people who make it on top of that.. from a warm friendly welcome on arrival to some fantastic help on departure the team were fantastic. I required some work documents printing and Keith (landlord) couldn’t have done more, they will look after you way beyond any hotel chains! THANK YOU!

The hotel met more than my needs and the staff were very helpful and obliging. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I will certainly not hesitate to stay again should the need arise. It was close to the town and there was a bus stop more or less opposite and a large supermarket just a few hundred yards away. I couldn't ask for more.

LOCATED IN OPEN COUNTRY ABOUT 30 MINUTES DRIVE SOUTH OF CAMBRIDGE. APPEARS TO DERIVE MOST OF ITS INCOME FROM CONFERENCES AND WEDDINGS BUT NOTHING ON THE DAY I STAYED. THERE WAS ONLY ONE OTHER PERSON STAYING AT THE HOTEL. ROOM WAS SPACIOUS AND COMFORTABLE WITH GOOD BREAKFAST.

Stayed one night, the room was perfect, spotlessly clean and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever had in a hotel. The grounds were beautifully kept, set in quiet countryside. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty.

There wasn't any breakfast due to the heatwave but we were informed beforehand. We have stayed here before know the hotel and area well. The hotel is a bit tired now and could do with a good make over.

Better directions would have helped as thankfully bar staff were still there to let me in. Also a note saying which pub the hotel is over would be useful.
