Sandwich is a sleepy town, full of narrow streets and a picturesque river side. There is plenty to see, quaint shops and lovely pubs. We went out of season so it was quiet and easy to get around. Summer might be a bit different. We had lunch in The Sandwich Bakery Company, which is family run and welcoming and dinner at the Crispin Inn…great steak and lovely staff.

Sandwich is a beautiful town with a long history and a plethora of historic buildings, squares and narrow streets. You can also walk along the river and around the town walls.
There are a number of bars and individual restaurants--try the Toll House--smokehouse and grill and as a coffee and deli-the No-name Cafe.
Easy to spend a couple of days here and convenient location for exploring other towns such as Deal, Margate and Ramsgate.

A lovely little town, with lots of interesting history, streets, pubs & restaurants. Great walks & plenty to keep you interested. Local buses to Dover, Ramsgate etc. Not very frequent & didn´t run after about 18.00 hours but if you planned well, it worked. There is a train station as well but we didn´t use that.

It was just an overnight stop after coming over on the ferry. I know the area from the past and there are lots of placed to explore particularly Dover, Walmer and Deal castles. The town is pleasant and there are good bus connections.

We booked a walking tour of Sandwich with the local history society before we went and thoroughly enjoyed it. The museum is not big but has very interesting display cases. We had trips out to Richborough Roman fort and a boat trip to see seals - and they obliged.
There are several places in Sandwich for lunches and dinners. Ver interesting place to visit.

Booking.Com is rubbish and l will never use them again, l think l said that after the first time but will make a note for myself this time. We stayed in Sandwich for one reason we were going to a family event. Booking.com stated: Landmark River View, toiletries, ironing facilities,, iron, hairdryer, clothes rack, seating area, breakfast included. What we got was: No landmark view, only a view of the main road and wall opposite, no toiletries, no iron, no hairdryer, clothes rack consisted of a couple of hooks on the wall with three hangers, the seating area was one very old chair that sank at the back when sat on. Not only was the breakfast not included but there was no breakfast at all, we were told there is a cafe up the road. It was a 20 minute walk, l could not go as l told Booking.com l need a room close to the ground as l have breathing difficulties, My partner walked to this 'cafe' it was over expensive, for what was no more than a child's meal. It was very archaic, it was like walking into 1930's room, even the furniture was l930's and when you opened it it smelt musky. The Hotel said they had told Booking.Com many times that they did not do breakfast, but they kept sending people to include breakfast. It did not matter much to us as we were there to see family, however l think it would have ruined someones holiday it they were there for the area. Sandwich is very expensive, there is no parking, infact there is almost nothing there. Unfortunately, l am not able to download my photo's from my phone.
Warm welcome from the host who handed over the keys and parking permit and showed us around the apartment.
Superb location from which to explore Sandwich and easy access to several eating/drinking establishments. A quiet apartment away from the road and overlooking the quayside.
Just a note-not a criticism -the owners live upstairs and there is a common front door-although a private lockable access door to the apartment.
Plus--Milk, coffee tea and sugar was provided.
Nothing. It doesn’t tell you that when there aren’t many guests there is no one who works there staying at the hotel, there is also no breakfast available and also if you want to leave before ten thirty in the morning the only exit is via a first floor external fireplace that is very sloppy in the rain. The shower didn’t work and therefore a cold shower had to be had and the bathroom was not pleasant. The bedroom however was clean and the beds comfortable.
We spent two days and two nights in Sandwich. Our stay at The Fleur De Lis was really nice. Our rooms were comfortable, warm and cosy. We had all we needed. Huge and tasty breakfast was included. We also had our dinners in the restaurant at Fleur De Lis and they were tasty and freshly made. Staff was very kind and helpful. We recommend The Fleur De Lis!
Loved the amount of space (only two of us). Very quiet location apart from a lovely chirping moorhen family in the nearby stream. Easy access to shops, restaurants and pubs. Public transport was great, we left the car and used buses and trains which were close by and reliable. Sandwich is a lovely old town and all the people we met were lovely too.
Perfect location to explore the region. Freshly renovated with amazing decoration touch. The owners are very sweet and helpful. Parking wasn't a problem at all. Free public parking next door had a lot of free spaces and felt like hotel parking. Breakfast was amazing. This place looks even nicer in real life. Highly recommend!
Everything...ideal location for Cambridge and around the Kent coast, the food in the bistro was lovely and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The en suite room we had was spacious with a large comfy bed, tea and coffee and a mini fridge. Would definitely recommend staying.
I loved the historical feel of the place. It perfectly fits the theme of the town. And the location could not be better: On the quay, a couple minutes walk from the center, across the street from a great pub. And the food in the hotel was fantastic and not overpriced considering the atmosphere.
This is a wonderful B and B with charming and very helpful hosts. They went out of their way to help me and I'd certainly like to stay with them again.
Sandwich is a lovely town too; very charming and atmospheric.
The hotel is well located in the heart of Sandwich, with parking round the back. The staff were very welcoming, the room was fine and breakfast was excellent. The town itself is exceptionally beautiful.
Great breakfast. Good pub food. Very helpful, welcoming, helpful staff, live music/good playlists. Music/Cinema posters. Watching England’s women football team make history with enthusiastic locals.
Very friendly, kind host. The breakfast was the most nicely prepared I have had in the past.
The stable house we stayed was very cosy and atmospheric in the centre of Beautiful Sandwich.
Old fashioned charm. Traditional furniture in the hotel room. Good breakfast. The food in the restaurant is very good, it's popular with the locals so book a table at busy times.
Spacious bedroom and bathroom, clean, beautifully decorated, all the facilities one would need, very friendly host, excellent location for Deal and Sandwich, superb breakfast!
Comfortable and convenient for our visit to Sandwich over the Christmas holiday. Although compact there was everything needed for a short stay and good facilities.
