Tighnabruaich is a lovely sea side village overlooking the Isle of Bute. It's out of the way and feels very remote. There are not many shops, but there are great walks and scenery for ever. Not a place for those looking for nightlife and thrills.

A beautiful location on the shore of the Kyles of Bute, overlooking the Island of Bute. There are many sandy beaches around, and opportunities for low level and high level walks. Ben More (h. 742 metres) will test the fitness of hillwalking visitors. Tighnabruaich offers a few shops (RNLI, Gallery, Charity, Cafes etc.) including a mini Co-op market. Ferry access is readily available to Tarbert on Kintyre, and to Rothesay with magnificent Mount Stuart and its Gardens on Island of Bute. The conserved Victorian Toilets situated in the centre of Rothesay, with impressive marble facings and old-time sanitary fittings, deserve an appreciative visit. Benmore Botanic Garden is not too far away, with its stunning avenue of Sequoiadendron Giganteum and a friendly cafe/restaurant.

It's lovely to go somewhere to relax and have friendly and helpful staff. Beatiful view from the breakfast room. My husband and I went to relax and we did just that. enjoying good food and a wee drink. We went to visit Dunoon and Inveraray.

The village is spread along the lochside for some distance and it lacks a focal point. There are however several walks in the area and a few places to dine out within a short drive. It's a good place to go if you are looking to get away for some peace and quiet. Do a bit of research on places to go in the area as it is not well advertised locally and some places are difficult to access without that knowledge - Kilbride Bay for example.

Stayed in Kames but Tig. is only a stroll along the sea front away. Several cafes for lunch in Tig. Loads of good low level walking nearby although some of the paths shown on latest OS map were not there!

Kames and Tighnabruaich are very peaceful with amazing views over the Kyles of Bute. You feel in the middle of nowhere but the ferry at Colintraive over to the Isle of Bute is only 20 minutes away. We will explore more on our next visit as we were only there for 2 nights. We ate in the hotel as the food was delicious.

Such an amazing stay with wonderful hosts! The room was lovely with everything at my disposal. The area has beautiful scenery and just a short drive/cycle to some amazing places such as the Tighnabruaich viewpoint and Ostel Bay. Breakfast was wonderful and there’s even the option for packed lunch if you’re on the go. Great for solo travellers and couples so definitely looking forward to coming back with my wife next time

Spectacular quiet location with a view across the water, clean and comfortable (and bright and large) room, excellent staff - enthusiastic and friendly without being overbearing - great food using local produce. Easy parking out front and a pleasant stroll along the waterfront up to "Tinny" village or a short drive to the ferry to access other areas of interest. Our second visit and we'll be back for sure. 10/10.

Unfortunately I had to leave super early, like 6am : -{ so missed the lovely breakfast. It did look good though, and will make sure its not a rushed visit next time. The Hotel is in a lovely setting, and the staff are genuinely lovely folk. I felt very at home there within the hour of arrival. They were so willing to go the extra mile for us, We were given a room upgrade when we arrived.

The Royal is a decent hotel in a great location. The staff are clearly doing their level best to provide a good service, and for the most part they get it right. The location is second to none - with views that are, particularly if the weather is fine, out of this world.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The quality of the meals the chef produced at every meal was such, that they might easily be served in a Michelin Guide listed restaurant. The hotel is in a wonderful location, peaceful, with breathtaking views…….

This is a cosy, comfortable apartment with a great view. It was a great base for a short break on Argyll's Secret Coast. The village store has everything you need for groceries and a there's a rapid charger for the car in Tighnabruaich.

Best part about this hotel was the view, but that's not something the owner's can take credit for is it? The decor in the room itself was fine, what we'd expect for what we actually paid.
