Lovely town on a steep hillside, with a sandy beach at the bottom. Really lovely food at the pub The Spyglass.
Botanical Gardens are wonderful, cliff walk lovely in both directions, and a great walk up on to the downs from where you can see the whole Island. Did everything on foot and by bus.

Really loved the town, wasn't too big.
Really loved the town, wasn't too big. Had shops to cater for all you would need. Very clean. Every where we went the people always welcoming and so friendly.
Lots of great walks on your doorstep whether it is along the coast or across the downs. Or there is a great bus service that can take you to the popular attractions.
Eating out there were all manner of food you could enjoy. Also at all price levels to suit your budget. Have to say our absolute favourite place to eat based on price and quality was The Bistro.
Has extremely steep hills to get down to the esplanade so would require you to drive if you had any mobility issues.
Would highly recommend.

Ventnor has lots to recommend it when taken individually - a variety of bars, cafes restaurants and pubs, a couple of mini supermarkets, a lot of quirky independent shops and antique shops, car parking, kids play areas, beach and some walkable attractions. The difficulty is the roads linking the downs, town and beach and all very steep, narrow and winding which made us think twice about getting the car out sometimes.

Still a bit run down, but the Town is on the Up.Lovely Beach and Esplanade The Town still harbours a few Alkies and Drug users, but they seem to appear to be on the Decline.Ventnor is very Hilly so be warned. The Spyglass is the best pub in Ventnor
We had a wonderful stay at Top Deck - a beautiful, cosy, spotless apartment with amazing sea views. It was quiet, the beds were comfortable - everything was great. Free parking in Ventnor and around the island with the pass arranged for us was a great bonus. Our hosts were so hospitable and helpful, dealing with our queries very promptly and efficiently and always with friendliness and good humour. We would really recommend Top Deck to others.
The location is very good, being just above the esplanade. The swimming pool is a highlight; I used it twice and it is big enough to swim in, rather than just cook off. It is much superior to the swimming pool at the Royal Hotel. My room was described as a ‘small double room’. It was not that small: I have occupied ‘standard’ double rooms in other hotels which were much smaller than this one. So do not be put off by the word ‘small’!
Lovely place to stay - very spacious apartment. It had everything you would need - kitchen was well equipped. Garden is very well maintained and spacious, perfect for breakfast outside. The location is not very close to Ventnor (by walking distance), but at the same time very close to costal walk - 5 mins and you can enjoy sea, peace and quiet. Very friendly owners. Overall very enjoyable stay, would definitely return, if we have a chance.
Lovely spacious apartment, stylishly furnished and well equipped. Exceptionally clean and comfortable.
Beautiful park opposite which links to Ventnor beach front. A leisurely walk over the hill in the park greets one with a stunning view of the sea and the walk through the trees is lovely. This comes out at The Spyglass Inn which has really good food. Off street parking and wifi good. Definitely recommend a stay here.
The weekend's weather was gorgeous, the room had an amazing view, clean comfortable, the staff all very friendly, arrival welcome was superb, breakfast a good choice and very tasty, we had one meal at the hotel - delicious. No parking at hotel but off street available with a little walk. Access to beach via some steps. A lovely weekend away would recommend The Wellington Hotel.
The Hambrough hotel and restaurant was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I would recommend this lovely hotel very highly and we will certainly return. We reserved a table in the restaurant and we can honestly say that this was a most memorable experience and the food was wonderful.
Every member of staff were superb!
Superb location 60 seconds from the beach and esplanade. One parking space, which is a bonus in Ventnor. All facilities up to standard. Tea, coffee, salt, pepper, sugar. Cling film (a little). Plenty of crockery etc Although there was accommodation above and below, this did not cause any issues.
Great hosts Ruth and Rob welcomed us into their beautiful home. Rooms were clean and spacious, breakfast was wonderful. Garden was gorgeous, so peaceful and relaxing. A short walk at the end of the garden to a lovely quiet beach cove and coastal walks into Ventnor. Loved every part of our stay.
What a lovely apartment in a fab location in Ventnor. Beautifully furnished with everything we needed for a few days away. You can hear the sound of the sea and the views to the beach and beyond are stunning. It’s within east reach of restaurants and shops. We really enjoyed our time there.
The property was lovely and cosy, we felt right at home. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the beach and it’s a 1 min walk from a bus shop that takes you around the island. We loved our stay here, highly recommend for a getaway to Ventnor
- Excellent location opposite Ventnor beach.
- Fully equipped kitchen.
- Amazing view of the sea from the lounge area.
- Warm and well heated house.
- Conveniently located for coastal walks though some paths were closed due to landslides.
Excellent location just a few seconds walk to the beach - easy walking to Steephill Cove and Bonchurch too. Great house with very comfotable beds, terrific bathrooms and kitchen facilities and very comfortable overall.
The staff were very knowledgeable, helpful and efficient. The location was amazing with an incredible view of Ventnor harbour. Great base for exploring the Isle of Wight. Breakfast was excellent.
Everything was clean and new. The location is 50m to the beach promenade and close to pubs, restaurants and cafes. Very spacious and fully contained facilities throughout. Good choice. 👍
The location of the property is excellent. It has a beautiful view over the beach at ventnor.
It's very close to amenities, walking distance to local coastal paths.
