This charming family-run hotel has a great restaurant and a wonderful, peaceful location on Whitby’s West Cliff, near the seafront and within walking distance of the town centre.

Outstanding staff - the friendliest, most helpful staff ever (and we have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years). Nothing was too much trouble and we really felt that we were welcome guests. Please convey this information back to them.
We also enjoyed our meals (I loved the guinea fowl) and the lovely dining room and table settings.

Whitby is our favourite place & we go several times a year. There are some lovely eating places, bars & coffee shops {the flat white coffee in Coopers is the best). Getting around is slightly difficult for me as I am in a wheelchair so we just have to plan our days but apart from that its great.

Beautiful parks,pubs, restaurants and shops.
A bit hilly so not for those with walking problems but there are cabs a plenty to get you to where you stay.
And of course film locations for TV show Heartbeat. James Cook museum and Whitby museums well worth a visit

Whitby is a place that goes back in time.
Whitby is a place that goes back in time. Lovely town with lots of little shops, cafes and pubs. Lots of boats and boat trips at reasonable prices. Lovely church and Abbey at the top of the 199 steps. Lots to do for young and older alike.

We found the fisherman’s wife to be a great place to eat it was quality produce. Don’t eat fish and chips before you go as
It’s full of those ha ha - we wanted different food and that was a little harder to find but we did -

Amazing Seaside Town full of history and charm.
Amazing Seaside Town full of history and charm. The Abbey is stunning, although overpriced (£39 for 2 adults and 1 child). I would highly recommend The Singing Kettle for breakfast. The best English Breakfast I have ever had!

Whitby was a pleasant surprise!
Whitby was a pleasant surprise! A quirky town, with plenty to see and do and a great place where to hike from. Over the bank holidays the town gets very, very busy so better visit during the off- peak season.
Location .
Best area in whitby to stay I would say as just a short walk/cut through to town centre . But in a quiet location.
Had parking area there was space when I arrived.
Also in area where promenade and beach is.
Classic traditional British hotel.complete with a actual key to the rooms .
I booked bed and breakfast one night I stay in a lot of hotels and I can’t think Iv had a better breakfast .
Quality the service spot on. Cooked to order
I will take up the evening meal option if I am up this way again .
We have travelled to Whitby many times, and we are often in Whitby at least twice a year. The majority of our stays have been at The Royal. It's central for everywhere ! Rooms are clean and comfortable, we paid extra for a sea-view and weren't disappointed. Spare pillows in the wardrobe, which we found useful. Breakfast is plentiful and varied, and being buffet style, you can go back for more. Yes, the hotel could do with a face-lift, but adequate for the amount of time we were in it.
Greatocatio for peace and quiet, not far to Whitby itself. Room. Very nice, strange lumpy mattress. Great views of the garden and visiting deer coming for the fallen apples.
Restaurant food OK messed up food order sides arrivedcafter mains. Wine very over priced for a standard sauvignon. Charlie waitress very friendly but made a mistake and I was over charged £80. Hotel quickly resolved on calling them. Hopefully a one off. Didn't visit the spa but looked good in the broucher.
I turned up after midnight with no luggage for an unexpected stay. The staff were amazing, finding me food and toiletries and making me feel very welcome. This is a beautiful hotel. The room was spacious and comfortable. The lake and gardens were lovely to stroll around. The breakfast was excellent and the morning staff just as welcoming and professional as the night before. The only good thing to come out of a bad day was discovering this hotel. I'll be back.
Loved it. Beautiful location in a hip part of Whitby, very close to the centre, room was gorgeous, clean, comfortable and spacious yet cosy... couldn't have asked for more! Loved the decor too, and the fact that all the rooms are themed around various Whitby legends - we want to go back and sample some of the other rooms! Oh, and the cafe/ bar downstairs (sorry, the name escapes me but it's part of the hotel) was lovely too and did a great breakfast and good coffee
Everything! The apartment was amazing, clean tidy, very comfortable bed, loads of space. Had a nice welcome package on the bed on arrival which even the biggest hotel chains don't do. We didn't hear anything from any other guests. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to go stay in whitby to stay here as its also in the perfect location as its only a 5 minute walk to the harbour/sea. Thank you so much for an amazing stay which made our get away so perfect
We have just returned from a long weekend stay at the Resolution Hotel and we couldn’t have stayed in a nicer hotel, the staff were all helpful and friendly, the hotel rooms were spotless and the bar and resturant all well stocked, our breakfast each day was delicious - we have booked again for 2022 and can’t wait to return to Whitby - thank you to all the staff at the Resolution for making our stay a great one.
amazing location with beautiful views across the harbour! Staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were great for a hostel in a historic building. We appreciated that this isn’t a party hostel, most other people staying were families, walkers or cyclists looking for a quiet space for the night. We will absolutely be recommending this hostel to anyone staying in Whitby.
The location is brilliant, only a ten minute walk into Robin Hood's Bay. The hotel is on a good bus route with buses every 30 minutes into Whitby and Scarborough. The breakfast is very good with locally sought produce. Good choice on the menu. The bar food is very good also, serving meals till 9.00pm. The staff are lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them.
The breakfast was excellent, especially the wonderful black pudding. The hotel was situated in a quiet area with parking, a must for Whitby. It was an easy short walk into the centre. Paula was so welcoming with tea and delicious home made fruit cake on our arrival. As dog lovers, we loved Denzil, the very well behaved Labradoodle.
Great location albeit a bit sleep - but that's Whitby.
Lovely house with much work done to it to a very nice standard.
Nice amount of parking space.
Lovely comfortable large bedrooms and very nicely decorated.
Hot tub very nice and immaculately maintained.
Great location
Beautifully furnished, comfortable luxury hotel in great location. Lovely couple, Peter and Julie, happy to offer their extensive knowledge of Whitby to make your stay perfect and we looked forward to our daily catch ups with them. Highly recommended and would love to stay again.
The hotel is right in the middle of the amusement section of town. Not as nice as the other side but there were some good restaurants.
The view of Whitby as you drive into town is beautiful and the Abbey ruins were stunning.
Spacious room, firm, very comfortable bed. Just far enough out of the center of Whitby to be quiet at night but close enough to walk everywhere. Lovely town to visit - would visit again.
Lovely place with very welcoming and helpful staff, together with good food and drink. They are very dog friendly! We would certainly stay there again if we are in the Whitby area.
Very spacious property set over 5 floors. Beautifully decorated and very well equipt. Location for Whitby is fantastic just around the corner from the station.
Loved whitby, loved the location of the angel hotel, but it has come very dated and is much over priced. it is charging 4 star prices which is more like 2 star
