Blois beautifully lines the Loire Valley with a sublime combination of nature and architecture. Standing between Orléans and Tours, two other Loire Valley gems, Blois - the most important city of Loir-et-Cher -enjoys its proximity to the agricultural Beauce area and Sologne forest.
Slate tiles and tuffeau stones, a pattern reminiscent of the Loire Valley, are prominent in Blois and the old town is full of charming houses. Blois train station is near the Gothic Renaissance Castle of Blois, considered one of architecture’s masterpieces. Originally occupied by King Louis XII, it is nowadays partly taken over by the Museum of Art, offering a collection of paintings, sculptures and ancient tapestries. The royal gardens also evoke the Renaissance and provide a lovely view of the city. Other gardens invite you to enjoy the magical scenery by the Loire river.
Walk 2 minutes more towards the commercial street to discover the House of Magic, a unique example in Europe of its genre. Take some time and walk along the Loire, where the historic Jacques Gabriel Bridge, built in the 18th century, links the two banks of the city. Follow this route to discover the magnificent Castle of Cheverny and the not-to-be-missed Castle of Chambord.

Very historic town, with a lot to see and visit. Very clean place and very friendly people! I loved it!! I also biked here from Tours, which was a gorgeous biking route with great sights & towns along the way. Highly recommended!

A historic and friendly town close to many of the most visited chateaux on the Loire. The town has its own chateau, which is well worth a visit as it is so well presented. Of note was the quality of information in English there. We also visited the Maison de la Magie, which was amusing, but I wouldn't rush back. There are lots of old streets to explore and plenty of places to eat and drink. If you're going by car, research about parking first. We kept our car at the Halle du Grains, which was a hike from the Hotel, but good value and we got used to the commute.

The views of the city from the left bank were beautiful.Despite the heat we enjoyed visiting the Chateau and the old town and it was all within walking distance. We visited a vibrant outside bar in the park on the left bank and had a superb meal at a restaurant called Le Creusille .The setting of the restaurant is in an atmospheric old courtyard ,the service and food was outstanding.LesleyUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

For us two points, 1] restaurant; breakfast superb, evening meal very nice and tasty but a bit limited on the choice...2]pool was fine but for myself - mobility reduced and wife new artificial knee the pool was not accessible as the 'ladder' to enter the water had very small steps and was vertical, with a wider step depth and a ladder at an angle (maybe like \ and not I ) we both could have used pool and hot tub. Historically interesting with a great deal of impressive architecture. Easy to walk around although cobbled streets as in many old places in France are hard on the feet! Eating places expensive but authentic and with good atmospheres and friendly people. In all a very attractive small city to visit.

The unit was quite self-continaed and pleasant with a little courtyard right out the back door of the bedroom that was a pleasant reading area early in the morning or end of the day. Sights were very accesible with restuarants and enjoyable pedestrian-friendly walking areas in the cetnre of Blois. Would recommend this unit to anyone. Was happy to see that landlords were receptive for suggestions for improvement as well.JohnCanada

There was also a small kitchen in the room with the single bed. Everything looked very clean and new and in fact the room had only been renovated six months ago. It seems that all the other comments are a bit outdated. The breakfast was exceptionally good and had a great selection. We were able to store our bikes safely. It was very quiet and we slept well. I can really recommend this hotel for a stay in Blois.

It is spacious and well equipped for two people. Although it is not walking distance from the centre of Blois it is easily accessible by car or bike. The provision of off street parking is a bonus. Although overlooking a busy 2 lane road it is very quiet.
