A lovely owner family and fantastic value for money
Housed in an authentic 19th-century building, Hôtel D'Anjou provides comfortable, elegant accommodations in the heart of Angers, close to the train station and business center.
Sophisticated Angers sits by 3 rivers draining into the Loire, and the imposing walls and turrets of its 13th-century fortress are a complete contrast to the other Loire Valley castles. The former Plantaganet seat, the castle is surrounded by landscaped gardens and a smaller castle inside contains the medieval Apocalypse Tapestry.
More modern tapestries are in St John’s Hospital, one of the oldest in Europe, by St Aubin’s Tower which was once part of an abbey. Ronceray Abbey sits amid half-timbered buildings on a street which continues over Verdun Bridge to St Maurice Cathedral, whose twin spires tower over Angers. Pavement cafes on the square behind overlook Adam’s House.
The main square - Place du Ralliement – houses the Grand Theatre and restaurants and bars serving Anjou wine and locally distilled Cointreau. Shopping streets surround it and nearby are the Fine Art Museum and Logis Pincé classical museum.
The court building overlooks the elegant Jardin du Mail, while the Jardin des Plantes are the oldest botanical gardens in Angers. The Terra Botanica amusement park is on St Aubin Island, one of several within the rivers. St Nicholas Lake has been artificially created, as has Maine Lake where there is a watersports centre.
The Angers accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury city centre hotels and cheap apartments near the train station.

Nice town great as stop over point on route to further French destination ( Bergerac for us). Pretty old town we enjoyed the tourist train which gave us a quick guided tour. Plenty of restaurants, tourist office and cafes and shops.

Liked the chateau with tapestry. Walking round old town and visiting the cathedral. People very helpful and friendly. Public transport to visit Saumur and other areas very cheap and efficient. Nightlife in Angers very lively with a good choice of bars and restaurants.

Angers is a beautiful city with stunning architecture and castle. Lots of winding streets, cobblestones and history everywhere. With lots of street cafes, bars and restaurants, it’s difficult to get your steps in before stopping for a crepe, galette or pastry.
Vineyards are everywhere and the Anjou wines are a must.
With a thriving student population, nightlife is good and varied and public transport is well served with buses and trams.

Angers is a fascinating small city on the Loire.
Angers is a fascinating small city on the Loire. And they do a great thing.....which is to mark on the pavement with a blue line the route to all the major sights. Even with a map this was excellent and helped us find out way with far fewer wrong turns than normal! Every tourits city should think of doing this.

Beautiful city. So artistic.
Beautiful city. So artistic. Thrilling architecture with so much history. I loved it. Clean & tidy. Not happy with the misuse or bad driving of scooters & it seems, sadly, that even clean & tidy cities like Angers can’t or won’t solve the problem many homeless & mentally ill wandering the street.

Only there for an evening walkabout but the castle/ramparts were quite extraordinary. The old town was also interesting with many old buildings.
Untypical of us, a couple in our late 70s we eat in an American style diner. It was a Monday and not much open. My wife and I lingered whilst eating our burgers listening to some memorable 60s music. A night to remember!
The location is perfect. A quiet street 5
minutes' walk from the Hotel de Ville for transport or from the Ralliement square and its restaurants, 7 minutes' walk from Angers St Laud train station. The house looks like a small Manor House. We were warmly greeted at reception. Our room was spacious, freshly painted and spotlessly clean with a large and comfortable double bed, modern toilet and bathroom with shower. I can't comment on the breakfast as we had it in town. We would definitely stay here again.
very nice Hotel. Just been refurbished. The staff was extremely friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. Also the city of Angers is a must, if you are in this part of France. Travelling with our dog, we found many places for him to swim. We have already decided to come again and we will certanly stay in this hotel.
Beautiful interior design in the bedroom & hotel overall. The hotels location is superb, within 10mins walk to the restaurants in the city centre; tram line outside the door for further distance & private underground secure parking at Le Mail parking at reasonable prices €15.40 for 24hrs.
spotlessly clean third generation family owned hotel in the old style, very comfortable large room overlooking plaza in front of train station. secure parking available, great breakfast, very helpful staff, close to everything including good places to eat. highly recommended.
Nice cottage (we were on the ground floor with terrace) in the depth of a garden (with hens, but beware the rooster if he is jealous!) not far from the centre of Angers. Parking on the street. Bathroom between the living room and bedroom.
Great Location and the staff were great, multilingual too. Parking is secure code access entry. Perfect place to store my motorcycle as I tour France.
Sorry to the Front desk staff, I arrived dripping wet, hope I didn't make a mess.
Great position for exploring Angers. Very different property from most other conventional hotels. Spacious room at the end of a shady garden. Parking outside (if you’re lucky). Very helpful and interesting proprietor.
all was perfect the room wow.will be back breakfast super super Angers is a lovely clean great place to visit. and to add to the spark stay at the mercure hotel..
The hotel is small and welcoming, located just near the Angers train station. The room is not that big but clean and with a lot of attention to design and detail.
