It is easy and fast to get to Paris city center by train from Aubervilliers/La Courneuve train station, but to get there, you need a bus ride. Unfortunately the bus rarely runs and usually crowded. Another option to take the tram to 8 May 1945 Metro station, but this area is dirty and looks dangerous.

Great little town just outside of Paris. 10-15 minutes from Gare Du Nord on the train means you can be in the centre of the city and seeing the sights within 30 minutes of leaving your hotel. Also, there are some shops, bars and places to eat nearby if you want to avoid the additional cost of eating/getting supplies in the capital.
