The beach if fabulous, heard that the sand was import from Perth, Australia. is great, white and fine.
There is a few spots to eat, but not too family oriented, maybe it was because we went off season.
The onsens around the area are ideal to relax and recover energy. Check out the feet onsen over looking Engetsuto Island.

Beautiful beach, awesome landscapes, and great restaurants.
Beautiful beach, awesome landscapes, and great restaurants. Highly recommend visiting the Sandanbeki cliffs, gorgeous views. Also go to Ashiato if you want delicious American style sandwiches. Look for the "American Sando" banners/signs right by the Shirahama Beach bus stop. There is a small aquarium that is nice and a very interesting fertility shrine called "kanki" that you should visit as well. If you come in August you might be able to catch some phenomenal fireworks. The bus is very easy to use, it basically just goes up and down the coast, where most everything you want to see/do is.
There are some theme parks and onsens too but we didn't have time for them, unfortunately.

Shirahama can be reached from Osaka by many accommodations.
Shirahama can be reached from Osaka by many accommodations. You can use a direct bus from Namba or you can use JR trains to reach there (whether it's local or rapid). The white sand beach was very much worth considering the location near the city (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Wakayama).

A beautiful beach resort with some great scenery, nice soft sand and clear blue water. Does have some sea weed floating around and watch out for late afternoon when the jelly fish are around in summer time. When there are less people in the sea - it’s time to get out.
There was a fireworks display in the evening with music playing out speakers. Simply amazing to watch from the beach!! It doesn’t happen everyday so plan ahead.
There were market stalls providing food in the evening however unsure if it is a daily or weekend occurrence.
Local bars/eateries had friendly people , staff and locals alike were nice. There is a family mart just off from the beach front. Some bars are open late.
You need to either take a bus from the train station which takes longer but is cheaper or a taxi which is much faster but also more costly- ¥1,500 roughly. It’s too far to walk if you’re staying near the beach and in the summer heat it’s really not recommended.
It’s really nice for families , couples and groups of friends. If you’re a solo traveller and you enjoy your own company you’ll be fine.

The beach was nice, but crowded the fireworks and candle light event on Saturday was worth it. Not as nice as other beaches I have been to around the world. The water is pretty cold to so not great for swimming. Had fun but wouldn't recommend for a solo traveler. No English directions to get there and the bus is kinda confusing. I would not come back without a rental car
Great owner who helps you in every situation, thank you for beeing so friendly and openminded! The area is great you can easily walk to the beach, supermarket (own cooking), minimarkets, restaurant and bars. Thre are also some bus stops just a few minutes by walk. Everything is clean, you have an area to relax and you are able to use the kitchen. Very cozy place. I highly recommend the shirahama beach. There is a family market directly on the beach, showers, blue water, white sand nice waves, even onsen all you need for a great beach day.
The beach is amazing, just a few min walk, and you have to pay extra for the beach view. Breakfast and dinners were also great. They have a nice open air onsen, and 2 hot and normal temperature onsens inside. My room was spacious enough. There are free hot and cold drinks on the first floor and good massage available. Have a free bus shauttle from the railway - if you manage to learn how to find it. It left randomly, not according the schedule. Ask someone in Japan to call hotel to learn more about shauttle.
The location combined with the price is unbeatable. You might be able to stay somewhere "nicer" but what's the point? The beach is literally right across the street from Ginsui! It is RIGHT next to several great restaurants and there are even more just a few minutes up the road. Only a short bus trip away (or half hour walk) from just about everything you'd want to do in Shirahama.
The hotel is near to the beach, it has a lovely swimming pool outside. There is a great viewing area on the 11th floor where you can sit and relax looking out to the sea and on the same floor there are male and female Onsens. There was a wide variety of food at breakfast. The room with tatami area was very nice. Good size gym and laundry room.
Extremely nice hotel with big rooms with a sea view, great onsen and very friendly staff. The location directly at the beach is amazing.
There is a translation errror on booking.com: The rooms have their own bathroom!
There is also a supermarket directly in front of the hotel and several Restaurants close by.
Private onsen in room has nice outdoor setting and layout. Water is good. There is a small terrace leading to the outdoor onsen with separate toilet and bathroom at side. Toilet room and bathroom are cold spots, fortunately toilet seat is warm! Overall room looks good.
It was the perfect stay in Shirahama. The host was really polite and went out of his way to help with any situation. We reached late on a cold night and he was there at the bus stop to see us and help take the luggage in. The location is very convenient generally.
Wonderfully maintained property, lovely views, friendly staff. Good food - breakfast, Japanese and Western. Loved the fact that the hotel picked me from and to the train station, and also brought me to Tore Tore market. Lovely onsen views too.
The property was new and clean. Fitting and fixtures were of good quality.
Do take note that the check in counter was in another building. Look out for the details of checking in from a message sent by the property owner in Japanese only.
Exactly as presented and very comfortable. Nice and clean! Loved the crisp hotel like sheets and the 2 Japanese style rooms. Beautiful bathroom which was a highlight!
Good Location, balcony facing sea and with a big spring tube.
