We only stayed one night and in the winter.
We only stayed one night and in the winter. It looks like there is lots to do during the tourist season, when the mines and stone shops are open. Walking also looks excellent in the area. The local Spießbraten is something to have experienced, not for vegetarians, though there are always veggie options available in Germany now. The local Landbier is good too.

For breakfast there are 2 bakeries down the street in walking distance. Our favorite was "Bäckerei Korn" The Steinkaulenberg mine can be reached within a few minutes by car and everything else around Idar-Oberstein-Oberstein is only a short car ride away. Would definitely stay here again. A big Thank you to the owners for making our stay so enjoyable.

An entire staff that is interested in making its guests feel comfortable, cared for and safe. The managers were very kind and helped me whenever I need it. The room is very clean, practical, a comfortable bed. Breakfast is a very generous and appetizing buffet. I really like home-made things; their jams and beer. A hotel that I highly recommend and that I would love to visit again in a summer.

We got into town late, slept, and checked out in the morning. We communicated through email that our arrival would be later than initially planned and the response was quick (and in English), with a phone number to call when we arrived. The gentleman that checked us in was friendly and spoke English well. When we woke in the daylight, the views from the room were amazing.

They are running Building as hotel without any hotel facilities. Parking is not free and you have to pay extra with coin system means you can not go out many times with car or else you have to ask again and again for the coins.zero security and not safe for families. We stayed as last-minute guests with our large dog who was warmly welcomed. Set against the forest it was very convenient for us to walk the dog and visit old castles along the track. Also if you drive electric there are chargers available within walking distance.
