Amazing price and great location. The host John is a wonderful man who has stories for days. Make sure to ask for breakfast, which was the best I had in Ireland. I can’t recommend this place enough and I would stay here again.

I was happy with the accommodation and the local pub(s).
I was happy with the accommodation and the local pub(s). However, please note that this is all in a small hamlet called Boolteens, which is about 3 miles from Castlemaine, so you don't need to visit the latter!

I noticed the host had dried out another family's coats for them (yes, it was raining!). She was very welcoming.
The B & B was all you would hope for, and to top it, the restaurant/bar next door was great for food and relaxing in. (And, there's another bar over the road for Sky sports if you want to bet on a horse!)
Castlemaine has a statue of The Wild Colonial Boy.

We visited Tralee a few times and we were delighted with the places we ate. We had a lovely meal in both La Scala and Yummy. We also went to Camp, Castlegregory and visited The Maharees. We found our way home through the Connor Pass. The views were breath taking.

This was the 1st night of our stay in Ireland.
This was the 1st night of our stay in Ireland. Willie can't be matched for his knowledge of Ireland and hilarious stories. He is the epitome of a gracious Irishman and host. Our stay at Castlemaine was a great experience. People everywhere we went in the area were very friendly and helpful. Nearby Cobn was colorful and interesting. Dinner in the Commodore Hotel bar was delicious. More places to visit than we could squeeze in with two days.

Castlemaine is only a very small village but it has a couple of pubs in the village and two more at only a short distance away - all have food available. There is petrol available just outside the village.
It is ideally situated for access to the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry, yet just off the beaten track so you can feel relaxed coming back in the evening. It doesn't have big tourist pubs etc etc and is a quiet village.
If you are looking to relax after a busy day sightseeing it's perfect.
If you are looking for a busy centre with shops, touristy type stuff, music and entertainment until the early hours, you need to try Dingle.
A great base to explore the Dingle Peninsula, Killarney or Tralee. The breakfast is fab cooked by Tim who is an amazing host who goes the extra mile for his guests. He brought me a honey and lemon drink to help soothe a persistent cough. We were in the Mountain suite which has a separate sitting area with a TV and a wide selection of books. Tim had also provided a bottle of wine and some sparkling water in the fridge. I highly recommend a stay at Alderwood House.
Our hostess was fabulous. Very helpful when planning an outing and absolutely charming. Rooms were older but very clean and the bathroom was spotless. We ate in the bar twice and enjoyed the atmosphere - roast lamb was especially good. Breakfast was excellent. I liked that there were smaller options (I hate food waste). Note: location is out of the way, but convenient when visiting the Dingle peninsula & the Ring of Kerry.
This is wonderful 17th century manor house on the edge of a harbor with all the features of a luxury place but at reasonable price. This is a not to be missed accommodation. We travel a great deal for pleasure in a number of countries, and are in about 20 Bnbs a year. This is the only one that continue to return to. It is a rare place that simply should not be missed. Book it early as it tends to be filled.
The accommodation was warm, homely and gorgeous, 10 times better than any other B&B we have stayed at. Tim was the perfect host. Wealth of knowledge of local area, places to go, travelling to them, timings etc. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and presented like a fine dining restaurant. We couldn't have been happier with our visit and look forward to coming back again. Thank you very much.
Super hard working and friendly staff. Breakfast was the best we’ve had in Ireland! Our bed was made up with freshly air-dried and ironed sheets; what a treat! House is old and creaky (300 years old!), with lots of history and a nice sitting room on the main floor. We met and chatted with other guests at the inn, which was nice.
comfortable and great location for visiting Dingle and Kerry. best staff that made us feel like home. they even gave us great tips about visiting dingle, Kerry and driving up to the cliffs of Moher, and even taught us some Irish and about the Irish culture. highly recommend booking! one of our favorite parts of visiting Ireland.
The house was lovely and the yard was full of beautiful flowers. The host was very friendly and helpful. The room was small due to having 2 beds in it but it didn't bother us. The beds themselves were quite comfortable. We loved that there was a tiny fridge just big enough for milk. We got breakfast one day and it was tasty.
quiet area to relax. perfect location to do Dingle Pass and Ring of Kerry. Hosts was very accommodating. made fresh brown bread which was left for us at check in. Made tarts fresh and again gave us a couple. Very accommodating! Would book again next time we are in Ireland!
Wow! What an amazing stay! The location was perfect for exploring the Ring of Kerry or Dingle. Our host, Catriona, was delightful. And tons of little extras were included that made the house a home. The room is much larger than the pictures look.
Excellent place, spotless, very well equipped, comfortable , great location for exploring Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. Superb communication from hosts. Easy checkin and out. Looking forward to returning
A really comfortable house. Well equipped kitchen with washing machine and dryer. Private car parking/garden, ideal for evening BBQ! Great location for touring both Dingle Peninsula and Ring of Kerry.
Great location, close to Inch beach and a great launch pad for the Dingle peninsula and Ring of Kerry. The house was so clean and comfortable and the garden was safe and secure for the kids.
The BEST place we’ve yet stayed in Ireland. Clean room and bathroom, excellent shower, lovely views, comfortable beds. Definitely would stay here again. Bernadette runs a fantastic B&B
The place is very clean, quiet, and comfortable with welcoming, friendly hosts. Pretty view from the room. Good proximity to nearby villages and other parts of County Kerry.
Leaving. Had I not paid in advance and had I not been so busy focused on my purpose in the area to exclusion of finding another guesthosue / hotel, I would have left.
Beautiful location. Very friendly and accommodating hosts. I recommend their breakfast. It’s a good place to stay to travel around Ring of Kerry and Dingle Peninsula
The breakfast was delicious, great choice, individual needs catered for.
Great location for touring around Kerry,Dingle, Tralee.
