The Swan Hotel and Spa, hotel in High Newton

Located within the scenic Lake District National Park, 7.5 mi from Laurel & Hardy Museum, The Swan Hotel and Spa features a children's playground and views of the river.

The property was well placed, on a river for which we had a lake view which was lovely. Spa facility was really nice although almost cost as much as proper, don’t really think it was worth £50pp at all unless treatments already included

We liked the location, facility inside the hotel, the family suite which was having good privacy. The view outside the room was amazing particularly while enjoying the hot tub. Breakfast was good, we enjoyed every bit of it. Plenty of parking space.

Fantastic location with great views. Comfortable, spacious and clean. But the best part has to be the people. Dylan is a credit to his parents. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect and we can’t thank him enough for his generosity and help. Legend!

    Lovely village with friendly people.

Lovely village with friendly people. It is quite remote though, so would advise using own transport. Stayed at the Crown Country pub hotel which did excellent meals at reasonable prices. We stayed for 3 nights and ate there every night.

Small village , but quite quaint , with just 1 pub but a good one , relatively friendly and agreeable. Any shopping etc had to be done further afield but that aspect was not at all a problem . Easy to go from there to all the main Lake District tourist locations and all walking/hiking trails .

A little way out so transport a must.

A little way out so transport a must. However it was practically next door to the Predator Experience which is why we booked this B/B. The local Pub The Crown excellent for meals but worth mentioning they don't do food on Monday evenings. The local people made us feel like family and Tina of the B/B was an excellent hostess and you felt at 'home' from the moment you got there. Very peaceful area but take a torch to walk back in the evenings, felt extremely safe and great to get back to nature and switch the phones off! A lovely place and would certainly stay again.

It was delightful for a short stay with a lovely environment and a great breakfast. If you're after hotel style facilities it won't be your thing. So the bed was a little creaky and the nearby by-pass sometimes noisy but I can certainly visualise going back for a longer stay.
