The proprietor and staff are exceptional in every way. We stayed at the Black Swan during a very busy weekend. Our stay necessitated an additional day and care. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met and our stay was comfortable. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept on for years and the food is top notch. Professional, happy, courteous, and friendly. No

The Old Manse Pickering, hotel in Pickering

Located in Pickering, The Old Manse Pickering offers hotel accommodations in the gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

The location and parking were excellent - the NYMR Pickering Station is just 5 minutes walk away. The breakfast was served in the conservatory and was virtuously faithful to the positive reviews (enormous tea pots a hit). The rooms were spacious and clean - they'd actually been redecorated just weeks before our stay. Staff all friendly and knowledgeable. An experience at a good price. It's just how a small hotel should be run.

Morgan's Rest, hotel in Pickering

Featuring a terrace with a garden and countryside views, Morgan's Rest is a holiday home, located in Pickering. Guests benefit from free WiFi and private parking available on site.

Definitely the best self catering accommodation we have stayed at. It was just perfect. Down a very long lane so no noise apart from the occasional baa's from the sheep, very occasional noise from the Rooster and Horse but we loved all that. Inside was so tastefully decorated and furnished with absolutely everything we could want and more. We had our own patio with furniture and our own beautiful garden

The house was ideally located for us as we spent the weekend visiting the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which was within walking distance. The house was spotless, homely and welcoming. It was particularly nice to find a small selection of goodies in the kitchen on our arrival. The hosts had left a welcome folder with lots of clear and concise instructions about the property and local recommendations for sight seeing and eating.

We stayed in Thornton Le Dale a couple of miles outside. This location is ideal in that it is within easy reach of most local attractions and also the coast. Plenty of pubs, cafes and independent shops.

Nice little market town with plenty of places to eat in the evenings, even in the winter. It is a good centre for visiting other places nearby and it has the main attraction of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

    Clean tidy and relaxing.

Clean tidy and relaxing. The birds at the pond were lovely to see. Even saw a kingfisher. Hot tub was very nice and they even turned up the temperature to meet our preference. The hot tub was checked and attended to promptly ever day of our stay. I know Pickering very well as my daughters lives there. We used the site as a place to relax and be with my family after loosing my brother few weeks before. My husband had also retired that weekend so we wanted to be close to our family. All our needs were met but could have done with few more cooking dishes and trays as we did not want to go out to eat. Would recommend the site to others.

Beautiful town. The NYR is a real tourist attraction. The stops are interesting and mostly independent! Parking is plentiful! Pickering is a fabulous base to explore the moors! Just 20 minutes to Whitby, 20 miles to York. Plenty of places to eat, lovely cafes and pubs! Don’t forget to visit the Castle. Scarborough is a 30 minute drive. People in the town are very friendly and the shops are very welcoming of dogs. Pickering is a real gem of a town! Flamingo Land theme park is about 10 mins from Pickering.

The purpose of our visit was to visit the Bangers and Cash Auction House, and to visit there memorable museum in Thornton le Dale. Pickering was a nice place. We went out of season so it was quiet and only went for two days. Ate at a Indian restaurant which was recommended to us.

The apartment was exceptional in terms of comfort, cleanliness, facilities and location. Pickering is an extremely sedate and soothing place to be with its abundance of independent and characterful retailers/traders. You're nudging against the Yorkshire Moors and are an enjoyable car journey away from Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay. A stop off at Ravenscar is highly recommended if you enjoy rural coastal sights, which has a seal colony located there who are best enjoyed from a respectfully unintrusive distance.

It's a really cosy, warm cottage with everything you could possibly need - including the comfiest beds ever. Pickering is great. It's a pretty little town with cute shops, a castle, and a steam train. It's perfect for mooching around, and as a base to explore the glorious North York Moors and the coast around Whitby and Scarborough. The host is absolutely lovely, and puts his heart and soul (and back!) into everything. (Thanks, Matt!).

To me the hotel had a "classic" quality about it. I loved the patio the garden it was so green, pretty and quiet. The public rooms where you could order a drink was nice. The dining room, the size of it, and the staff was excellent. The breakfast was good size and delicious. My room spacious, and loved the bath tub after a long day of hiking. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend the Forest and Vale.

We loved being able to use the fireplace. We were in The Tack Room and it's a very well laid out cottage. It's comfortable, homely and cosy; perfect for a couple to stay in. It's walking distance to everything in Pickering and it's a relatively short drive to York, Whitby and other coastal towns. You can also get to Dalby Forest and other lovely places pretty easily for a nice walk which we liked.

We had a lovely room at The Black Swan. You can order exactly what you want for breakfast and they were delicious. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We liked that they were interested in where you were headingfor the day and gave good tips on where to visit in the area. It was great to find a private car park at the back of the hotel also an area to sit outside and have a drink.

Location is beautiful, rooms are nice. Enjoyed being able to sit outside on the lovely garden furniture scattered about the large garden area in front of the hotel. Animal lovers will enjoy seeing the horse, dog and cat around the property. Only a short distance from Pickering Town once you navigate the 1 mile country road down to the main road. Breakfast was lovely too!

The apartment had everything we needed, especially in the kitchen. We were in the Cropton apartment on the second floor, it overlooked a pub car park but it was quiet and there was a nice view. Centrally located so everywhere in Pickering is within easy walking distance.
