Bakio is a terrific beach and surfing resort, but we didn't go for either of those. We went because it's close to Gaztelugatxe and there are some very good restaurants nearby. And a txakoli museum! Check it out!

Lovely small village on the coast, North East (half hour car /bus trip. Beautiful beach which doesn't get too crowded. Most of the summer residents are locals with a summer house/apartment so you are immersed in Basque culture and friendly population. Great for families with young children
Set the bar for good hospitality so far on our entire trip. Everyone involved in running the hotel was absolutely great. The breakfast was out of this world. The owner makes the bread, garden fresh tomatoes, and even the olive oil. Truly incredible. The rooms and hotel in general are stylish and modern. The location is great. There has obviously been a great attention to detail in putting the hotel together. It has been a long time family house and the owners/managers take great pride in it. Do yourself a favor and stay here.
Location was excellent, in front of the beach. I went to hike the “Ermita de San Juan de Gaztelugatxe” and the bus was just behind the hotel. The next day I went to Bilbao and the bus stop was also behind the hotel. You have to bus choices and runs every 30 minutes. There is a choice of 2 buses, one ending in 17 which takes you all around the area and a fastest one ending in 18. Staff was very nice, helpful and attentive.
We loved the quiet rural location, the sound of birds in the morning, The comfort of a spacious studio . The proximity to the ocean as it was within walking distance through the quiet road to Bakio ( shops and bars ). Watching the sunset with the locals at Bakio. So close to Dragonstone we walked there before the crowds arrive. Bonus for Australians was having Eucalyptus outside our window (plantation)
The room was very comfortable, especially the beds. The hotel is located right next to the road but it was very quiet (our room faced the backyard). The common dining area was cozy, clean, and well-maintained. Our host Sarai received us warmly. We are very grateful to Sarai for giving us good advice on visiting Gaztelugatxeko Doniene and other cities in the Basque region. We had a great stay.
Alicia our host was incredible! It was our anniversary and she gave us a beautiful bottle of wine from the cottage vineyards. The location was idyllic- we enjoyed a 15 minute walk to the beach and one of the best meals I had in Spain. Our room was charming and breakfast on the patio was wonderful.
Quite hotel in an old building that has been remodeled. The place was clean, the room was nice, bed was good. There is no AC but temperature was cold so it was good (I would not stay here in summer). The lady at reception very nice and helpful. Free parking onsite.
very nice place in general
The place was very pleasant and very easy to get there. Parking on site is a plus. the rooms were spacious and, because the hotel is an old house, expect some not so modern finishes. Good TV and good views from the room windows. Very close to supermarket and the beach. Breakfast was good.
We had an amazing stay here. The host was so friendly and helpfull. The rooms were very beautifull and clean with great views. The location is very beautifull and peacefull but also still close to the center of Bakio. Would definetely recommend this place!!
Great check-in and check-out. Very friendly host. Amazing view, comfortable, lots of space. Lounge on balcony was excellent. Parking was great. Easy accessibility and great location, especially for surfing in Bakio. Wifi was good as well.
This is a beautiful property located in the hills above Bakio town. It is a few kilometres drive to the seafront so best having a car to access the beach. I liked the tranquillity of this beautifully maintained property and gardens.
The hotel is completely new, with excellent and cozy design. We’ve got comfortable and very clean room that had everything we need. Also I would like to highlight a very delicious breakfast, hostess was very attentive to us.
THE LOCATION IS GREAT. IT'S A 3-MINUTE WALK TO BAKIO BEACH. The house is one of the most beautiful houses in this town. The owner is also very friendly.
