Montalcino is a quiet hill town that we love returning to often. We love walking all around town. A 4 hour hike gets you to Sant' Antimo Abbey and then you can take the bus back to town. We love eating at Il Moro and at Osteria di Porta al Cassero as well as Re di Macchia. Great town at the winter holidays!

We stayed in Montalcino two nights, which was about right for people who like wine but aren’t fanatics. Drove all over, got lost, went to Montepulciano (very crowded, steep and hard to get to—was very glad we stayed in Montalcino instead!) enjoyed the Abbey de Sant Altimo south of town, not overrun by people.

a wonderful town for wine & food lovers. you can drink excellent wines for far less than they cost in the States. we also found excellent restaurants. the ambiance is really nice here.
in particular there is an enoteca with over 100 wines by the glass or taste and will ship the wines to you that you would like to buy. we easily found 3 cases to send home with free shipping!

If you wish to visit Tuscany, Montalcino is the ideal place to stay. It's a lovely, attractive village with plenty of places to eat and drink. This region also has a lot of good restaurants. It is nevertheless quite close to other important towns and sites that are far more touristic, so I would recommend this area if you want to have a lot of options without being in the most touristic and busy locations around.

Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants.
Fantastic little town. Some great restaurants. Right in the best wine area in Italy. You will love it! Re di Macchia Restorante was so good. The best Florentine steak we ever had. Good prices and the owner Antonio gave us round after round of free Limincello and grappa. He is the best!!!!
Firstly the staff - they were incredibly friendly and attentive and were able to arrange a return taxi to Montalcino town at very short notice. You are about 10 minute drive from Montalcino and looking out over break-taking views across Tuscany. The pool is amazing and looks out over the breathtaking views. The Hotel itself has a vineyard with extremely high quality Brunello, and the rooms are fitted with special wine fridges with all the best wine from the Hotel vineyard. The room itself was really spacious and had an amazing bathroom!
The place is wonderful. All the people
Are very polite and helpful. We had the feeling that they are doing their best to make our stay special. At the beginning I was a little bot afraid due to some negative reviews. I was so wrong! The hotel is great, with clean and nice pool, the breakfast was fresh and tasty. Our room was big and clean with the view which we will never forget. Great location, near to the restaurants. We have spent great time with our 2 dogs. I highly recommend this place. Thank you!
Everything was so prefect!! We stayed as a family with our 5 month old baby and our dog but I would definitely recommend this place also to a couple/honeymoon spot. Was very romantic and had a lot of space. As most restaurants in Italy don't open until what we Germans consider "late" 7 or 7:30 pm, it was just too late for us to go out to dinner with our baby so having a kitchen to cook dinner for our selves really was a life saver!
Location is excellent. Hospitality is highly pro - gentility and thoughtfulness towards guest needs. The hotel owners and staff are attentive, discreet/low-keyed, and welcoming. I had small single room with 140cm bed - very comfortable bedding, quiet, classic Tuscan deco (quality), well-appointed small bathroom (shower/bidet/sink/wc) with window. Breakfast room - beautiful views from large bay windows.
Stunning view from the rooms. Watched sunrise from the bed and it was stunning. Great location outside the ZTL but a stones throw from everything. Great hotel bar with view over the valley. Reception were really helpful in guiding us to the nearest car park once we’d unloaded our luggage and gave us a permit to stay there for the duration of their stay. Breakfast thAt was included was fantastic.
Marcella cooked us a lovely meal on our first evening and was the perfect host throughout the stay. The apartment was well appointed and had stunning views .A very good location for walking into Montalcino and plenty of good places to eat nearby .The breakfast was exceptional.Lots of choice for and much of it homemade.Delicious honey and jams .

Villa Le Prata was an amazing experience for anyone who wants an intimate location with unbelievable staff that made you feel like you were home!!The wine, food and Staff were outstanding!! Tomasso was unbelievably attentive from our first hour at the Villa until we left 5 days later….Incredible!!!!! Anna and the rest of the staff all receive 5 stars….
Fabio is an amazing host. His property is absolutely beautiful. My wife and I enjoyed sitting on the patio drinking a glass of his 1285 wine. Breakfast was delicious and offered many choices, including Fabio's baked cakes and pastries. This is a great location for those interested in visiting Montalcino and the surrounding areas.
This is an absolutely charming place not far from the town of Montalcino. Great starting point for wine yours. The hosts are super friendly and attentive to all your needs. unbelievable breakfast, very clean and completely renovated. like a swanky boutique hotel but in the Tuscan Countryside.
Super location, walking distance to the centre, cosy old building with atmosphere, excellent staff, parking arrangements, excellent breakfast for Italian standards, fantastic view from the hotel terrace, etc. Definitely a place to.consider for stays in Montalcino!
it is very well maintained, clean and the facilities are great. The owner is very welcoming and helpful, the town is a 10 minute car ride from the hotel so its convenient. The room is amazing and the bathroom is very big (Deluxe double room).
Brand new rooms, very comfortable beds and house is fully prepared for cooking/living for a bit. Perfect balance between being close to Montalcino but in a very local small villa. Good parking options and hospitable service.
Breakfast is definitely a highlight of this hotel. Great choice of hams, sausages and cheeses. Fresh fruits and great pastries. The hotel is also a winery - one of my favorite producers of Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino.
Stunning hotel, exceeded my expectations! An historical castle in the heart of Val d’Orcia with spa and thermal pool. The food is amazing, you can enjoy fresh seafood by the pool, I really appreciated it!
The location is set on a hill overlooking the Tuscan countryside near Montalcino village. Accommodation is clean and bright. Good value for a night or two.
