Portland is a walkable city.
Portland is a walkable city. Too many wonderful restaurants for one trip!
My favorites from this trip: Fore Street Restaurant, Honey Paw, and Jing Yan. My husband loved Bar Futo and the bar at Via Vecchia.

We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine.
We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine. We usually stop at the Kittery Trading Post along our drive. In Portland we like to take in historical homes and sites like the Victorian Mansion or the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow home. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in the waterfront area. One of our favorites is the Ri' Ra' where I typically enjoy a Guinness with the fish and chips.

My work in Portland shows me a diverse striving community that is trying to care for its citizens. That diversity is revealed through exploring the shops underneath and around the "Hopeful" sculpture/sign on Forest Ave.

Best seafood ever.
Best seafood ever. Very nice restaurants and bars and excellent, friendly service in all places. Nice little interior or similar shops. Some more or less interesting galleries, interesting Arts Museum. But two full days are enough for visiting downtown Portland.
Lovely hiking trails at about 30 minutes from the town.
My wife and I chose Portland to celebrate Easter as well as our 1st wedding annivesary, and the service at the Hampton Inn downtown could not have been any better. First, the location is perfect as we parked the car and walked for the weekend throughout the extremely walkable city. A little bit of advanced planning helped get us in to the popular spots but we also tried a few local joints and ALL the food was exceptional, everywhere. Even the comp bfast at the hotel was above av. Will make this place our go-to.
Overall, the hotel is new and clean. All the utilities in the room are very useful. Especially the size of the bathroom is what I really liked. You have enough space around the sink if you like to put your makeup and hair stuff around. The shower has decent space. Having a shower cabin not a shower curtain was huge plus for me. Having a nespresso in the room was another bonus. The valet service was quite useful and the price was okey, too.
TRUE revitalized grand hotel from 1927 when my grandmother worked in the kitchen.
I've always wanted to stay. It is a superior locale and location walking to Deering Oaks, down to the old port and dozens of foodie places. Start with concierge service, fabulous restaurant with a park and infused water, coffee and teas service in the glittering lobby.
Of hotwater, towelsThe room was comfortable and very clean. The staff was very friendly and efficient! We came to Portland for the weekend with friends. The room was very accommodating and relaxing. Plenty of hot water and space for 4 adults. The location is an easy walk to the night life of the Old Port. Great place!!
The room was lovely and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly. The hotel itself is beautiful and we loved all the original artwork everywhere and comfortable atmosphere. It was a perfect location for a night in Portland's Old Port.
The location was very convenient for walking to restaurants and shops. We could not have been happier that we upgraded to a room with a water view—there is not another Old Port hotel that rivals the unimpeded sight of Casco Bay.
The room was HUGE!!! We got in much later than planned, the staff was so very nice and helpful! We had hoped to see much more of Portland than we did, the hotel location is GREAT! a very easy walk into downtown and to the bay.
The property is well kept and clean in the middle of downtown Portland. There are many restaurants nearby, would recommend Luke's Lobster on the Portland Pier. The room was well sized and had a view of the harbor.
Very friendly and welcoming. Lovely room. Great amenities. On-site restaurant outstanding. Easy on-site parking. Great base for exploring. Old Port 15minutes walk. Cape Elizabeth lighthouse 10 minutes drive.
The hotel was newer, clean and upscale. The room offered enough space and was quiet. The location wasn't too far from all the action downtown. The included breakfast was good. Parking was adequate.
the open atmosphere, the little details in decorating, the friendly and helpful staff, the good location in the lower old port region of Portland making things accessible easily
It’s style and location on Portland. Really lovely character hotel in a great location rooms were great as were all the amenities. We just wished we had stayed longer
Very convenient for downtown Portland, nice courtyard with fire pit. Good bar area with restaurant. I liked the complimentary coffee/tea and snack station.
