Flic and Flac has a great beach and lots of good restaurants. It is very lively, particularly on a Saturday and Sunday. The restaurants that we enjoyed were Chutneys, Sunset Garden, Mosaic and a Thai restaurant that was a little further out in Tamarin called Ousaporn. Lovely garden settings in both Sunset Gardens and Ousaporn.
I recommend hiring a car. The Black River Gorge is stunning. The views of the gorge, waterfalls and to the bays are outstanding.

Being on the west coast of the island means that it isn't as windy as the east coast or as wet i.e. rainy. The beach is sheltered by a coral reef; as are many of the beaches on Mauritius but there are also resident pods of bottlenose and spinner dolphins off of the west coast of the island.
The boat trips to swim with dolphins and also visit the island on the SW coast of Mauritius go from Flic-en-Flac beach so cost a lot less than from other parts of the island - worth visiting more than one tour operator to get the best price.
Flic-en-Flac is not too far from the airport and being about half way up it is easy to get to most parts of the island in a day to see things.
Lots of restaurants to choose from too.

There are many wonderful places to dine around Flic en Flac with restaurants to cater to everyone's tastes.
There is a big supermarket, some bars and on weekends the place is livelier with music and sega shows. (not to be missed)
The beach is clean and the lagoon is clear and safe to swim.
Sand is clean and there are Filao trees to keep you in the shade.
The water is warm throughout the day.
There is a big shopping mall 10 mins away where you have modern shops, bowling alley, clubs, food places including Mcdonalds and KFC.
The local cuisine is so good so we tried to eat local whenever possible.
We went to Grand Baie which is very nice too but we preferred the charm of Flic en Flac and Flic en Flac was more relaxing.

They have a problem with people parking in the beach car...
They have a problem with people parking in the beach car park opposite the appartment and playing window rattling music till all hours ie 3 to 4 am . I had to ring the police a few times but it did no use . There is a big billboard in the carpark advising of a 10,000mru fine if caught but it had no effect . They parked next to it . Some locals decided to tell them off one night at 3am and the result wes that there was an all in brawl in the street under the appartment window and someone was critically stabbed and put in hospital . And I won`t even bother with the nightclub next door that goes till the same hours !
Good location close to the beach, resturants, bars and a supermarket. The atmosphere at the hotel was really friendly. There was common areas such as a balcony, shared kitchens and the garden/pool area that all guests was welcome to use.
The breakfast was good and the woman serving the breakfast very kind. Patrick was really welcoming and helpfull and gladly answered all our questions and gave us recommendations for our upcoming stay in Port Louis. We where very pleased with our stay at Lariad BnB

Loved everything about this hotel. It really is a special place. The staff are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble. We stayed for 12 nights and it has to be one of the most relaxing easy places I have stayed. The breakfast is excellent as is the restaurant in the evening. The pool area is spotless and sunbeds always available The hotel is situated in a perfect position, close to the shops , restaurants and beach. Was very sad to leave this little gem.
We stayed at Our Island Home for 5 nights on arrival in Mauritius. We found the apartment to be very comfortable. Rodney was welcoming and helpful. Kids loved the small terrace onto the grass and the pool and we had it to ourselves most of the time. We had no issues with noise. The flat really is only 5 mins to the beach even with kids in tow. Great value for money. Felt like we were borrowing a friend's holiday house, a great base for exploring.
Johanna was the owner of the apartment and she was very kind and she has such a good soul.she was Always there when we needed and wanted that we have our best vacation.it was very Clean, for ist the Most important thing when travelling with a child.it was very mordern and the beachbag was the perfect extra.thank you so much for a good time in the Island.
Ah and she was born here,so she knows everything about Mauritius.
Sofitel is a French style Luxury Hotel in an Asian-style architecture. Overall, the landscape, beach, swimming pool area and the room were beautiful not very luxury but comfortable and met our expectation. We booked the hotel in a last minute as non-refundable so had a chance for reasonable offer for 6 night's stay including breakfast. Breakfast buffet was successful and tasty with fresh fruits, juices, pancakes, etc.
Mrs. Pervin and Mr. Richard are superhosts! The Appartment is european standart!very clean and modern!everything is well equiped for a stay, even with two kids. 5min wall to one of the most beautiful beach. They helped us to rent a car and much more! very lovable hosts. We will come here again for sure. I will recommand this appartment for everyone who want to discover Mauritius independent. Thank you!
Only a 3 minute walk to the beach, amazing location
Close only a 10 min walk to the big supermarket, with lots of restaurants and bars nearby
Mitra was incredibly lovely and gave lots of recommendations for things to do in Mauritius, with getting discounts for various tours!
The staff was really attentive, keeping to your every needs, giving extra info about the island. Big shoutout to Jared and Vishal for feeling us at home and for the tips about Mauritius. The food from the restaurant was very good, yet a bit overpriced.
Huge apartment, kitchen with all amenities, huge and not too soft bed. Really, really great host, who helps a lot with everything.
Fantastic place to stay and explore Mauritius. Restaurants and bars are 5 min walk and beach is 7 min walk.
The food is good, people friendly. The room was big, not much of a view but ok. The place is 40 minutes from Mon Choisy Public Beach and Trou aux Biches. We ended up going to the public beaches, the experience there was great!
Everything! The staff were all friendly and helpful. The food was fabulous. The views and the facilities were out of thus world. If we cone back yo Mauritius, i wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else.
The location in Flic-en-flac is great. You'll probably want a car to explore the wider area but Flic-en-flac itself has nice beaches and some good street food and restaurant options.
