Spiez is one of many towns around the lakes which are all serviced by the ferry network that goes around the lake. Spiez is beautiful and has a real port town ambience. It has good amenities including a major train station - choose to avoid the bustle of Interlaken and the high prices. Make sure you have a swiss travel pass or interrail pass so you can enjoy free travel on the ferries to get between the lake towns - an incredible experience you will not forget.

Spiez is a beautiful small town.
Spiez is a beautiful small town. It is at the shore of Lake Thun and has a port for boats going round Thun Lake. It is a very good place to discover the Thun and Brienz Lake but having a Railway station it is also suitable to discover wider souronding. Spiez is smaller and much queiter place then Interlaken. If you feel better closer to nature then busy big cities, then Spiez is a great place to stay.

It's a steep hill leading down to the ferry but there is a bus & a little blue train. There are restaurants around the harbour. I recommend the restaurant at the Riviera Hotel.
The ferry goes to Thun & Interlaken with stops along the way.
There was a children's play area by the harbour.

Spiez is built on a hillsife overlooking the lake and mountains. A pretty spot, with hotels and a few restaurants. If your chosen hotel does not do meals of any kind you eat out at another restaurant. If you stay by the lake its quite a climb to the station with buses few and fat between.
Perhaps not the cheapest of towns.

Spiez was a great quiet location to explore the area via local trains and busses. Some would find it way too quiet, with a choice of approx 10 restaurants or so. Hilly town with uphill walks to the station, or back from the lake. Beautiful vistas of lake and montains.
The location of this apartment was superb, very close to the train station and bus stops. There were also a range of shops and supermarkets within a short walk. Best of all was the superb view over Spiez harbour from the balcony. The layout of the apartment was good too, and although the cooking facilities were basic, there were enough pots, pans and utensils for a few days stay. The main bed was large and very comfortable, and a request for extra bedding was responded to quite quickly. Overall, the value for money was good.
The location was perfectly situated right on the water, with a lovely view. We booked the two room apartment, which exceeded our expectations. Not only did it have the two bedrooms, but a kitchen, dining area, and private balcony. It was so lovely we had dinner out on the balcony overlooking the water. The hotel could use a little TLC (chipped paint, outdated furnishings) but everything was working and it was easy to overlook the outdated issues for a great location.
The location of the hotel is nice. We stayed in one of the recently opened new rooms, which was comfortable and of a good size including a very nice bathroom with a separate toilet, and a lovely balcony.
We had a nice dinner experience at the bar, with great bar tender serving us in a bar that inspired by a boat's deck overlooking the harbor of Spiez and its castle.
Staying in Spiez instead of Interlaken was probably the best decision I made for my trip in Switzerland! The hotel is just a small room with a twin size bed but it's clean and comfortable. The owner and the staffs at the pizzeria don't speak English, but the owner's daughter can speak some and helped with my check in. They are all very nice and friendly.
We like everything in hotel, room was spacious enough with great wiew of Niesen peak, bed comfortable.Bathrom with great
shower cabin, perfectly clean.Breakfast super ,asorted bakery, fruits, served by lady from bar.All people there were very nice ,helpfull.Very good value for money and also unbeatable location.
Stunning view and great location at the Port. Just below the Spiez castle and a Park.
Beautiful flat decorated with love to the details. Very comfortable and cosy.
Annelise was very helpful with suggestions what we could do with kids albeit not perfect weather.
We enjoyed our stay and would gladly come back!
I absolutely LOVED my stay at Hotel Eden Spiez. great location, 5 min walk to the lake and it’s a beautiful walk too. View is amazing, staff is amazing, king size adjustable bed is amazing, outdoor salted spa is amazing, breakfast is AMAZING, message is amazing…
Location was perfect, just a short walk to the idyllic town of Spiez (much quieter than Interlaken!)
Living area and bedrooms were really bright and spacious
Accommodation felt newly renovated and very clean
Beautiful views of the lake from the bedrooms
restroom was ok. the location is ok but you have to walk a downslope from railway station in Spiez. good luck carrying heavy luggage . shops nearby only plus. hence I am giving 2 else this was a 0
The hotel is right beside the boat stop, so great if you are travelling by boat. The breakfast was very good and the view from the restaurant is lovely.
