The best thing is Jaco’s long sandy beach with the warm ocean lapping the shore. I would highly recommend the hotel Club del Mar as a perfect place to enjoy the beach and sunsets whilst wrapped in the comforts of this lovely hotel at the quiet end of the beach

Lot's of skunks, hookers and coke. None of which I enjoy.
Lot's of skunks, hookers and coke. None of which I enjoy. Everyone says its to close to San Jose. But, the surf was excellent when we arrived. Awesome break! The New Jersey pizza joint was the best food and company, also the creeper. Its best to be in your domicile by at least 9pm and damn sure don't go out after 11pm. Good luck.

Jaco was a fun place to visit. Stayed five days. Eating out in Jaco - ate some great local food. Safe to walk around. Nobody on street begging. Had to go to the private clinic and they were great. Food in town was considerably cheaper than on the resort.

Appealing for partygoers or college students.
Appealing for partygoers or college students. A bit too touristy and expensive for what is offered. My young adult children were solicited to purchase drugs and there were a few panhandlers and junkies on strip (not aggressive though). Jaco is walkable and the beach is nice for sunsets and surfing, but not swimming. We left La Fortuna to go to Jaco and it was a big contrast in experience. Overall, had a decent time and captured great pictures, but I wouldn’t run back.

I have no idea why there are so many comments online about this town being a must visit location. I couldn’t disagree more. It’s reminds me of a dive college down. The large resorts and condo building are an eyesore. The beach isn’t nearly as conducive to surfing as many of the other beach towns in Costa Rica. I love this country but I’ll never return to Jaco.

Vista Hermosa is about 5 mi from downtown Jaco, which is excellent if you’re not into crowds and nightlife. If you do not have a car you need to get a taxi if you need banking or groceries. Airport transfer is CASH ONLY, and ATMs are downtown. So make sure to bring enough cash to avoid the taxi hassle and transaction fees
The stuff were amazing, there is live DJ on weekend, the pool operates till late 11PM.
Kitchen is well equipped.
Location is very close to surfing beach and to the best bars and clubs (note there are many working girls in Jaco).
The room and bed were clean and with new sheets, each bed has big fan so for me it was comfortable without needing AC, and shared bathroom.
To go out the Orange and Republic bars are recommanded and after party on Monkey.
The hostel offers a surf boards for rent.
Atmosphere is great if you are solo traveller.
The hotel' s location is fantastic! A few steps and you're on the beach. Selina also offers great free activities like yoga, welcome drink and bracelet making workshop. It also seems to be the case that the hotel is on the much nicer part of Jaco. We stayed in the small private rooms with the shared bathroom, the room was nice! We really enjoyed our stay but note that Selina Jaco is much more a hotel than a hostel and that does reflect in the clientele in our opinion. Overall we had a great stay.
Beachfront. Beautiful garden, the perfect location to sit back and relax, read, enjoy a glass watching the sunset.... The hotel is located in the southern part of Jacó. Samller resorts and hostels, private houses, and open access to the beach - locals come on the weekend, park thier cars under the palms and enjoy the beautiful beach. This is definetly the nicest part of Jacó, and there is everything you need in walking distance: the banks, good local restaurants, surf shop etc.
- The staff, especially Eric, was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and accommodating.
- The hotel is located right on the main Jacó strip, where you can get pretty much everything you need.
- The drinks and food were very good (the breakfast sandwich and french fries were delicious).
- The room was cleaned EVERYDAY--unlike most hotels post-COVID, who will only clean the room before and after your stay. This was a big plus for us.
Super good location: 100 meters to the beach and about the same to the main street of Jaco with bars and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff, good WiFi, unlimited coffee and tea. Price also includes good local typical breakfast which they bring to your room in the morning. Nice pool in the middle of quiet and full of flora courtyard. Free parking in the closed hotel teritory. We can highly recommend Los Ranchos!!
We had two rooms during our stay and they both had an excellent views to the pool and beach. We had to switch rooms becouse on our third night there was a plumbing issues in the restroom. The staff was so nice and accomodating and for switching rooms they did not charge us for the mini bar food we consumed. Highly recommend !! Definetly will stay here next time I visit Playa hermosa.
the Hotel is nice, big clean rooms, as most CR hotels they do not have accessible outlets to charge phones, internet was fine. Its very close walking distance to the extremely busy beach and main street so its quieter. a plus but the pool area is loud with people until 10pm so kind of ruins the enjoyment of the room and balcony. But is great if you are a family
Hotel is a real sleeper... Jaco hot spots are just down the road about 20 minute walk
here your out of the hustle bustle... beautiful gem, pool and view of mountains and pastures. Had gate for vehicle safe keeping. All staff was nice and helpful. Pool had outside shower. Small restaurant 5 minute walk down street..has air conditioning
If you need a place for Shabbos in Costa Rica, Izus is the best. He takes care of you like family, and makes sure you have whatever you need. It's not the fanciest place, has a communal/hostel vibe to it. But you are going to have hot Shabbos meals and a minyan and be near the beach and not in San Jose stuck in a hotel room.
The staff was always cheerful and set the mood for the other guests. Additionally, the food was very good and not as pricey as its supposed to be in a high transit zone as it is Jaco. It was a fun and dynamic hotel and the volunteers and workers there were always extremely nice!
We just stay one night , we moved from Best Western Jaco beach to this hotel because we could not stand loud music all day long. Fortunately we found nice resort with comfortable cottages. The beach was not the best but we enjoyed the sunset.
Really beautiful hotel with a small, but nice pool area in the center of Jacó with shops, restaurants and the beach within walking distance. safe parking sitation without additional fees. friendly and helpful staff. Tasty breakfast.
We stayed there to break up a very long drive. I'm glad it was on the edge of Jaco, as we didn't want hustle and bustle. The hotel is quite good value for money. Seems like it be very good for a small family holiday.
This home and this country are a dream! I cannot say enough about it. It was such a pleasure to stay here and an amazing experience to see Costa Rica. Alex is wonderful, as well!
The hotel was fine with direct access to the beach, room was comfortable. Breakfast was good, on weekdays you have to choose among 3 options while it’s buffet on weekends.
The hotel matched expectations. The room was spacious at a fair price and very close to Jacó town. The beds were comfortable and the staff was helpful and friendly.
Nice hotel near the town and the Jaco beach.Free coffee and a training room. Soll is the surf instructor there and she also gives awesome yoga classes.
