Avola is a pleasant town. There is plenty to see near by that can be reached by bus or car, Syracuse and Noto being the highlights.
We hired a small boat from the harbour with a skipper and had the most a fabulous day out!

Avola is a nice town near the sea: famous for its almonds, honey and wine, it has some baroque feeling to it, though not as much as Scicli for instance. It is a near-perfect base to visit Syracusae, the beaches of Noto or the town of Modica: all within reach from 20 minutes to 1 hour, but it can also be a relaxing place in itself. A recommendation would be to visit "Bar Pasticceria Mangiafico" in town, that since 1972 delivers quality in pastries and sicilian street food!
On the side of warnings, it needs to be said that the old town has very narrow roads, and getting around by car requires some driving skills.

In future I would stay in Noto or another city in Sicily

Avola seems like a ghost town in peak summer times
No good restaurants, no bars and nothing seems to be happening.
All the shops seemed closed once you got off the beach. Luckily I had a car so I could drive to neighbouring cities

Difficult with a car. Narrow matrix of streets.
Difficult with a car. Narrow matrix of streets. Needs Google maps and a navigator even to get to Centro storico. Easier on seafront. More space , more facilities. Seawater beautifully clean, beaches safe.

Avola isn't the prettiest town, though it does have its nice parts, but it is the perfect base to explore south east Sicily. The beaches are decent, there are plenty of nice places to eat and the access is good.
The hospitality was top notch - the hosts were so kind and accommodating. They went above and beyond - even greeting us with delicious pastries and espresso when we arrived. The room was huge and extremely clean. They served a lovely breakfast including eggs at my request. The town of Avola is wonderful with a beautiful beach and nice restaurants and bars. The location of the B and B is very central and convenient to everything, including an Aldi to buy groceries and snacks. I highly recommend this B and B and hope to come back someday!!!
Everything was perfect, starting with the hospitality of the owners and the whole staff, from the girls in the breakfast room to Ms. Ornella, who gave us all the directions we needed. Rich and varied breakfast, sweet and savory (with alternatives for the lactose intolerant). One afternoon we were offered homemade Avola almond granita. Our room (Dafne) was spacious, with whirlpool tub and cleaned daily. Pool comfortable and intimate.Parking is sought nearby. We highly suggest this B&B for both couples and families!
We are so happy that we decided to stay at Villa Carmlano. Owners of this place are super helpful and hospitable. Thanks to them we could try traditional and delicious Sicilian breakfast. Hotel is completely new, very clean and well equipped, located in the middle of lemon trees, but close enough to city center of Avola. Our room was comfortable and well designed, everywhere you can find some Sicilian decorations. Swimming pool was open 24h. Cannot imagine better place to rest and relax. Thank you 🌸
It was simply prefect. Even if from outside doesn't look big, when you enter it surprises you. Especially the pool in the courtyard. Everything is spot on clean, the staff helps you with any question you have. Rooms are big, slept like a baby (good beds), breakfast was good. They go even beyond, will make you a perfect italian coffee for free. Enough parking near. Will definitively rebook if I return to Avola.
Honestly the best b&b we have ever stayed in!
Corrado and his parent were attentive, friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless and the breakfast with fresh fruit, fresh pastry, home made cakes, juices and coffees was simply incredible.
We can’t praise this enough.
I’m addition, the price is very reasonable and location is perfect for beach, Avola and getting around the local area. Top 🔝 B&B
The room was super clean, spacious, newly established, comfortable bed, new towels, really nice breakfast (you need to say in advance what you would like to eat for breakfast and you will get everything), very helpful receptionist. We also had free parking in front of the building. Also there was possibilty to use Netflix. There are beautiful beaches near Avola
everything, the accommodation was scenic set into the side of mountains and was a perfect getaway for relaxing and been left alone. The staff despite the language barrier were always on hand to help, they were so friendly and patient and the food was a true vision of Sicily. We were welcomed instantly and the pool was a perfect suntrap.
Lovely location on the outskirts of Avola. Easy access to everything, but would recommend having a car as we did as the walk into town could be a faff! Hosts were brilliant, used the pool once which was clean and a good temperature once you got over the initial cold bit! Yeah, really liked it and great value for money.
Apartment located in a house under construction, with parking place inside and only 300 m away from Avola Marina & beach. Everthing inside is modern and nice and basically you have everything. Welcome package like coffee pods, shower gel, water and juice are provided at check in.
Very pleasant, modernly furnished, clean smaller hotel-type room. Location in a quiet area of low-rise buildings. A 10-minute walk to the city center. 800 m to the beach - we went by car. Communication and accommodation without any problems. Parking without problems.
The best location in Sicily. The villa is amazing ( I have fallen in love with it ), at 3 steps to the beach ( with sand ), very, very close to many restaurants. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back to stay more days than I stayed now.
Nice apartment in Avola, 20 minutes away from most beaches and the Cavagrande reserve. There is an internal courtyard with parking spots for cars. AC was available in one of the room. Overall the apartment was nice and clean, aside for a few ants in the kitchen.
Great hosts Stefan and Sonia. Lovely peaceful, green location with great beach access. House is perfect with all you need during your stay with Family. Stefan recommended Us great places to eat in Avola. We spent there amazing time. We will be back ☺️
The concept and location of the hotel. It is a small, approximately 20 rooms, and looked like a family run business. Everyone was very welcoming. Breakfast and leisure areas (swimming pool) were not crowded which allowed our break to be very relaxed.
Nice and big villa next to the sea. Comfortable, spacious and clean room, good variety of breakfast. Good spot to explore busy Sirakusa, Noto, Ragusa or to spend time in beautiful Avola and come back to villa for a quality rest.
Everything, in particular the great hospitality of the staff of the structure, the clean of room e good breakfast every morning.
And Giusy helps and advises you for tours in the beautiful cities and fabulous beaches of Sicily

Our backyard room was perfectly quite and cozy
