The town has an interesting main street with a good range of small shops and historic buildings. The ice-cream café at the top end is excellent. Alongside the town is a pleasant park by the river which leads towards the spa area.

The staff was exceptionally helpful and accommodating, even allowing us to check-in late at night. We booked four rooms and while three of the rooms were great, one had a heavy smoking smell, which was unpleasant. We were too tired to request a change of room at the time, but it's possible that we could have avoided the issue if we had asked earlier. In general, we found the value for the money to be great.
