The village was easy to navigate by foot. Great restaurants were close to the hotel. There were lovely shops a-plenty. The security has increased a lot since our last visit as had general cleanliness. Service everywhere was exemplary.

The main purpose of going to Franschhoek is to eat in some of the fabulous restaurants. Apart from that there is not a lot else to do and it can be very hot making it uncomfortable just to walk around the village. If self catering there are very good grocery stores including Woolworths Food and a relatively new and modern Checkers. There is also a large Pick n Pay but it is a much lower standard than the other two which are more up market.

We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer.
We love Franschhoek and could easily have stayed longer. We love wandering along Huguenot Street with its many shops and small restaurants and the market on Saturdays and Sundays. We visited Haute Cabriere, Mont Rochelle and Mullineux & Leeu. We enjoyed an excellent lunch in all and had the best wine tasting in Mullineux & Leeu. On the way out we had “high tea” (at 10.30 am) in Orangerie at Le Lude which was quite amazing

Loved Franschhoek but 2 or 3 nights here would probably be enough as town is lovely but small. A great base for doing the winre tram and visiting the various wineries but many can also be reached just as easiliy from Stellenbosch which seemed a little livelier and more going on. Liked the market with drinks and music.
Drivers take note the pass into Franschhoek (the R45 from the R43 or R321) is closed 0900-1700 weekdays until the end of Feb 2024!

Franschoek is a gem!
Franschoek is a gem! Fabulous places to stay, a most beautiful Main Street with so much character, beautiful shops and restaurants, and the Wine Tram. This runs like clockwork and is a perfect way to visit several wine estates without needing to use your car. The estates are fabulous and you stop as long as you like, hopping on the next tram when you are ready!

The wineries around Franschhoek were lovely.
The wineries around Franschhoek were lovely. Would also recommend a visit to the Pigcasso winery - I know this seems weird for those there for the wine and food but for some reason the place is very nice and chill. If you are in town on Sunday, the markets were great and you could get coffee and listen to music.
I would suggest hiring a car particularly if your hotel is not in the main street. But there is a tram which takes you to the different vineyards and seemed very regular.
As to vineyards, we had a lovely breakfast at Boschedal winery.
- Roel, Lucienne and their staff - very friendly, helpful and welcoming
- Delicious breakfast, variety on offer and special that is cooked by Lucienne herself and can be enjoyed on a beautiful patio
- Amazing Mountain View from the bedroom balcony!
Peaceful and well-maintained property with a great pool and sun chairs
- Comfortable, spacious room/bathroom with all amenities
- Central location to the Main Street in Franschhoek and the wine farms
- We loved our stay and hope to return! Definitely will recommend to others
Tranquil and secluded location with exceptional views of the valley and surrounding mountains. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped for self catering, with a great BBQ and outdoor fire pit, log burning hot tub and open fireplace in the lounge. The outdoor sitting area is spacious and enjoyable to take in the views, see the horses in the paddock and watch the sunset. Conveniently located to Franschhoek for the amenities and great restaurants. Did enjoy the excellent rose from the vineyard too.
Exceptional - my husband and I stayed for 2 nights and could not fault a thing. The grounds and pool were gorgeous, the room was immaculate and breakfast was absolutely delicious. This was the perfect boutique hotel for our stay in Franschhoek - 2 mins walk to fantastic restaurants and a lovely 12 minute stroll through the lovely town to the wine tram terminal. The staff were all so kind and welcoming, as was the owner who went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. We would highly recommend.
Our stay at this hotel in Franschhoek was highlighted by the complimentary wine tasting at Rickety Bridge, a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for a memorable visit. The service was exceptionally attentive, with the convenience of being able to contact them anytime via WhatsApp.Nestled in the picturesque surrounds of a renocated farm, the ambiance was charming.
The hotel room was beautiful and the views from the dining / bar area across the gardens looking at the valley to the mountains were amazing. Felt like you were in the countryside when only a 10 mins walk to the High Street in Franschhoek with plenty of restaurants and shops.
Jaco and his wife are very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. They provided a full breakfast with fresh fruit, various breads and cheeses, in addition to our choice of eggs an meats. I will definitely stay here again if in Franschhoek!
The hotel is beautiful and the staff are fantastic, especially Byron. He helped with bookings, reservations, recommendations, etc. We felt so welcome and pampered! Thank you!
And they also look after the environment, which is a huge plus.
just outside of Franschhoek and opposite the La Motte wine estate. everything is just 5min away (make sure to have a car).quiet and excluded with a lovely host and staff. breakfast was freshly prepared (maybe a little late from 8am)
A beautiful little hotel in all aspects. Stunning location in Franschhoek, beautifully decorated room with the most comfortable bed, wonderful garden, perfect fresh breakfast and great hosts. And all that for an affordable price!

Lovely centuries old homestead surrounded by mountains and lush growth. Corna was delightful host and went out of her way to accommodate us. Lovely setting so close to all Franschhoek activities.
It was very comfortable, had fantastic views of the Franschhoek mountains, a sheep pasture and vineyards, and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and several extras. Definitely recommended.
Ideally located small hotel set one street back from the main road in Franschhoek. Easy walking to many restaurants and small shops. Beautiful and quirkily designed rooms. Delightful staff.
A spacious and comfortable self catering apartment in the heart of Franschhoek. Close to great restaurants and amenities. We would definitely recommend 👌
