This is a small, lovely one thousand year old town about a 1hr 15 mins north of Rome.
We ate at Taverna Roberteschi in a little laneway within the castle walls. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent and the wine was fabulous.
I am vegetarian and there was a delicious ravioli with saffron cream sauce that I would highly recommend!
It was easy and safe to walk around this pretty village at night.
We suggest that you ask the waiter at the Taverna about the easiest way to leave the town as on our first visit we found the streets very narrow to drive through but after asking the waiter on our second visit, the exit he gave us was much more straightforward and easier to navigate.

A beautiful hilltop town, worthy of a few hours for exploration. I parked at the bottom of the hill and walked up. Although you can take cars to the top it's not something I would recommend - narrow streets etc.
I went early on a Monday morning so unfortunately not everything was open. I would definitely like to visit in the evening as there seemed to be a plethora of interesting looking restaurants, great for dining out.
This is a very large house set in it's own grounds with an excellent view of the old town of Orte on the other side of the valley. The suite was huge, extremely clean, and had everything you needed to cook for yourself. There is a supermarket about 10 mins drive away at the bottom of the hill. Fresh pastries delivered each day for breakfast - perfect. Extremely quiet and with a small but very nice swimming pool with plenty of space to lie in the sun after a dip. Great location for visiting Orte and the surrounding countryside
Home Orte is in a small historical hilltop village and has an absolutely breathtaking view from its compact balcony. The apartment has solid walls so was very quiet. We could easily walk down to the bus stop, which was the primary reason we selected this accommodation. Although we never met our host, she was responsive to any queries we had and was flexible with our check out time, which we really appreciated. The fee was very reasonable.
Everything was very good. Spacious apartment. Plenty of coffee and food. Well stocked fridge. Plenty of free parking. Very quiet. TV in sitting and bedroom. Proprietor was very informative and helpful, actually drove us the short distance into into town and subsequently picked us up. In town of Orte plenty of good restaurants and very steeped in history and old buildings, also with guided tours of underground tunnels.
Great place to stay and be comfortable around nature. Kids love this place; my kids loved the animals and the walks around the property. The food was amazing and it is conveniently located near Orte. We drove to nearby attractions, and it was very easy to go back and forth from this location. The customer service is fantastic, and they make you feel right at home. Also, their meat cuts and wine are delicious!
Amazing hosts! so welcoming, helpful and kind. House was the perfect size for our group (4 adults, 1 infant).
Location is rural: we’d advise taking a hire car. But it’s in the middle of fields, with amazing views (especially from the swimming pool) and a 30-min walk to Orte. Driving distance from Orvieto and Lago di Bolsena. Both worth a visit!
Plus…wine straight from the vineyard!
I was traveling from north Italy to south Italy and needed a place to stay at night. Location is close to the highway, so you don't need to go around. Hotel has a private parking lot. The room was clean and cozy. There is also a restaurant in the hotel which I ate dinner from. I really recommend the food, it was delicious. Staff was helpful. Very good option for the price.
We thoroughly enjoyed the location and rooms - we were given 3 room self-contained apartment. The hostess Tiziana and her husband ensured we were well looked after. They provided a new style Dyson fan to help with the hot weather and an enjoyable breakfast each morning in their Roman "taverna". We learned a lot about Orte and would definitely recommend.
super location, super spatious room with terras, super swimmingpool, super friendly ownership & personal (speaking english very well), close to very interesting villages & cities (Rome 45min by train), restaurants in Orte ~4km)
Friendly Bed & Breakfast on the mountains of Orte, about an hour north of Rome. I liked the private cabanas, opening my door to the view of the mountains behind their garden or the fog in the morning felt very relaxing.
Nice location on the hillside. Remote and quiet. Best for relaxation. Orte is on the other hill, nice view. The pool was nice, not too small. The host seems friendly but no real communication was possible.
Location great for what we were doing an overnight stop before we hit Rome. Lovely hotel, great staff just a short walk from a massive car park. Great food staff all spoke English
The room was clean and comfortable. The location was 13 minutes drive from Orte train station which was great for us. The view from the window was beautiful.
A short walk to the railway station with the municipal bus stop close by also. The bus is essential to travel from the hotel to the historic centre of Orte
