Scratch beneath the small-town surface of Helsinki and you will find a cosmopolitan metropolis buzzing with a lively attitude and plenty of excitement. The relatively short-lived summer offers the best chance to appreciate the outdoors and sit on one of the popular café terraces, or even hit the Hietaniemi Beach, all of which can be enjoyed during the 20 hours of daylight.
Strolling around the streets of Helsinki will reveal an Empire-style of architecture, comparable to St. Petersburg. The greatest example of this is the green-domed Lutheran Cathedral which rises proudly out of the center of Senate Square.
From here the main shopping street of Aleksanterinkatu, affectionately known as Aleksi, runs towards Mannerheimintie and contains the largest department store in Scandanavia, called Stockmann. The up-market boulevard of Esplanadi runs alongside and is packed with exclusive boutiques.
Lovers of Nordic design will be thrilled by the Design Museum and the Ateneum Art Museum. Nature is in abundance on the beautiful archipelago which lies along the coast. A must-see is the Baltic fortress of Suomenlinna, where you just might forget you’re in a big city.
Whether you head to a sauna or amusement park when you disembark from Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport, with over 65 hotels, apartments and hostels, Booking.com has the perfect place for your Scandinavian stay.
Helsinki is a fantastic city that hides well its treasures.
Helsinki is a fantastic city that hides well its treasures. Take time to discover it, as well as the surroundings, its subculture, its great specialty and slow food cafes and restaurants, its nature and museums. That does not show immediately but once you start digging, you are up for an exceptional experience

The city is nice, laid-back and full of really nice people. But we faced an unfortunate incident where my wife's purse got picked at Senate Square and the entire cash was gone. I later heard that this is common across Helsinki. One should be extremely careful about personal belongings.

The reason I arrived was a live concert i promised myself to go. The weather was not perfect but it wasn’t bad neither. It’s obvious it’s cold in January in Helsinki.
There are many nice places to eat. Check the port area for some nice bites.

It's a great little city in the Northern Europe. If you expect something magical, than probably better to avoid it. It's freezing cold (-25C is normal in January) so dress properly. To maximize the utility of winter stay, probably try to catch snow. Then Helsinki is magical.

Firstly my only criticism of the hotel was that at breakfast when I went at 9am the hot food was always dry like it had been out on the buffet for a long time rather the replenishing it regularly.
The hotel staff were great, very polite and very helpful
Helsinki was very interesting I wish I had booked a couple of extra days

Cool Scandi design and architecture.
Cool Scandi design and architecture. Beautiful city in winter with lots of open spaces and parks to explore. Museums and installations galore. Immense shopping opportunities. Good food options. Public transport is clean and plentiful. I’d plan to spend at least 4 days if I were a design and culture enthusiast
The Apartment is indeed very well connected with the public Transport System. With a few steps you can get to the Tram and Bus lines, but we didn't notice any traffic noise in the night. Even the metro is in comfortable walking Distance.
On top of that there are many great Restaurants in the area wich are much cheaper that the ones in the City Center!
Also the public Saunas in the area are much cozyer and more authentic than the ones in the City Center.
The owner is very friendly and flexible, kind regards and many thanks!
Very handy location, 10 mins from citycentre by tram, 15 by foot, in a leafy part of town. Right nect to the beautiful Töölö bay, next to Opera House. Tons of really good restaurants in the area, almost better selection than city center that has a lot of fast food or expensive places. Hotel has beautiful decor. I got my favourite room second time: awesome view over the bay. Rooms are spacious, very well cleaned, well equipped and tastefully decorated. Very quiet. This hotel is on my ideal Helsinki hotel lust on position 1.
The breakfast was very good and there was a mall across the street where my kids went and shopped several times so it gave them something to do. We were far from the city center, but we had a car, so it worked out OK there are no directions in English, we were not told where to park, and I ended up in the wrong parking lot and still I’m not sure how much I was charged for that. Overall, we did have a pleasant stay though, the hotel is clean, quiet, and we felt extremely safe.
The room was comfortable, although not the most comfortable bed I’ve had in hotels. Everything was clean and accessible, the breakfast was excellent, and had plenty of choices. The location was perfect; very easy access to the main train station as well as other public transport, and also central enough that much of the city center could be explored by foot from the hotel.
Central location while very quiet and pleasant, walking distance to everything I was looking for. The staff was very nice and efficient. The room and bathroom were spacious and the bed was very extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and delicious, very good quality food. I would highly recommend Hotel F6.
The rooms are very nice, very well equipped and look like brand new! You also can use the common kitchen and other areas if you like. The communication is convenient between the airport and the hotel and the city center. I could see myself staying here also for longer period (during a business trip for example).
The hotel is close to the port and 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes tram ride to city center. Room was on a small size with maritime decor. Bathroom big and clean. Breakfast was one of the best I ever had with very nice staff.
Convenient city centre location. Walking distance to train station. Taxi rank and tram in front of the hotel. Restaraunts and park within walking distance. Very well cleaned room. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice little gym.
older hotel, near train station, heated by traditional hot water radiators rather than forced hot air duct work, operable windows. No indoor air pollution as in a modern hermetic hotel. great breakfast. reasonable price
- Location: 2 minutes from the bus and train station.
- 15-20 minutes to: city center and airport.
- Comfortable rooms.
- Grocery stores within a 5-minute walk.
- Easy check-in and check-out.
- It felt really safe.
The room was clean and big. the washroom was very tidy. Although the location is a bit away from city centre, there are sufficient food restaurants, 24h grocery shop and bars close to the hotel.
Great location, tram in front of the hotel, only 5 stops to the city center, just a few stops to the ferry to Tallinn, great and modern room and cozy lobby. I can highly recommend it.
Great hotel in a great location in the city center.
Good breakfast, although not that fantastic for the official price indicated (av 28€ per person).
Quiet and very clean rooms.
A stylish hotel in a nice location not too far from city center. Fantastic Nordic decor and neat rooms. Easy to get to from Kampi railway station. Pretty close to nearby fjords.
I had some doubts before arriving this hotel in Helsinki because it was new building but everything was in properly and clear.
Also location was close to city center.
