The jagged coast of Normandy contrasts with the sharp lines created by Belgian architect Auguste Perret’s post-war modernist creation in Le Havre. The city encompasses an important port at the mouth of the Seine river that flows into the English Channel after passing through Paris.
St. Joseph’s Church rose from the ashes of World War II to become a striking symbol for Le Havre’s architectural awakening. The huge tower consists of a concrete outer skin complemented with a Neo-Gothic interior including coloured-glass windows letting in different shades of light.
The Andre Malraux Museum has a wonderful collection of artworks from the Impressionist period including paintings from Claude Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Wide open spaces and fountains are a feature of the square, one of the biggest in France, surrounding Hotel de Ville (town hall).
Sometimes referred to as the ‘Brasilia of France’, Le Havre incorporates the work of Brazil’s most famous architect, Oscar Niemeyer, in his creation Le Volcan. Spanning the river Seine is Le Pont de Normandie, an iconic cable bridge linking the city with Honfleur.

A very pleasant surprise - a nice looking city with lots of great bars and restaurants and amazing architecture. A must visit to Saint Joseph church and Niemayer plaza. I can recommend a place to eat - and watch sports - called "La grande ecole" - a huge school transformed to a bar-restaurant-pub-sports bar - community center - kids playground.

The centre of Le Havre is a unique place, which is why it has UNESCO designation. With its lengthy waterfront, there is lots to explore. The people we met in the Office de Tourisme and at visitor attractions were very welcoming. The city is easy to get around, with the trams and network of buses running frequently and at low fares. In the evenings, we found some very good restaurants and bars to spend our time. Overall, a city we'd definitely recommend, and with luck, may return to one day.

Le Havre is not a tourist place at all.
Le Havre is not a tourist place at all. It is a nice place to sleep over due to the Hotel's availability. We went to sleep there because the prices and quality is better than Etretat. About the beach, the North Sea wind is always there. Cold water also so don't expect a nice beach day in Le Havre.

When we drove into Le Havre, we thought it was awful as you pass a large oil refinery and a lot of industrial buildings and then there is a lot of 1960 type architecture related to the rebuilding after the war so it was not inviting. However after we got settled and walking on the beach and around the downtown, we discovered it was a lovely place to visit. It is also a great central location to travel east and west from to see the rest of the Normandy coast.

Le Havre is great, I really enjoyed the city. saturday night is buzzing everyone is out and there are bars with tables out on the pavement that are all busy. it's not a typical tourist town so there are no souvenir shops - in fact, there are not really any tourists which is quite refreshing. the bars and restaurants are friendly and welcoming.
we stayed downtown and in every direction we went we ended up in a great place! whether it was in the uni district, the local bars downtown, or st vincent near the beach, we got the train to Rouen which was easy to do and 50 mins on the train.
all round had a great time.

The house was really good , we arrived at the destination and called the owner, she was really good quick at response and we helpful and friendly. Best part she speaks English which is major advantage for internationals like us. The house is really good, very clean and furnished with very cute equipments. A good location for the value of money and excellent services.
Prefect to make ur holiday more better.
Love the experience.!!!!!!!
For a one night stay, it was a pretty good hotel! There's a free parking lot. It's a small room but we had everything we needed. Breakfast was good too. When we arrived, the reception was closed but there's a computer to check in and everything was explained well. We saw the staff in the morning and they were very friendly. I recommend this hotel if you need somewhere to stay while being on your way.
I like the location. Train and tram station are at 2 minutes walk.
The hotel is almost new and the spacious studios are modern and functional with a really comfortable king size bed
The staff is very helpful and friendly. There was a minor problem in my room and they took care if it right away !! It's my second stay in this hotel and I'm looking forward to come back !!
I had booked in hostel but due tp some issue with security, they provided me free upgrade to their 3 star hotel. The hotel room was good with all facilities. It also had TV hair dryer and toileteries. The location was very good and convenient, 7 mins walk from train station and shopping center. Check out time was also late, till 12noon.
Friendly hosts, well equipped apartment in a very central but quiet location in the centre of Le Havre close to many shops and restaurants. Parking is posssible in the nearby Les Halles car park, in the evening parking slots without charging can also be found easily in neighbouring streets (at least in August).
Enjoyed our stay in LeHavre. Best western is in the perfect location, right at the train station. Lots of restaurants around it, a little over a mile to the beach. The receptionist(i wish i knew her name) was extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast was also very good.
Great location in Le Havre. Easy to drive there by car and plenty of underground parking available. The room is small and has just the bear minimum. Do not expect anything fancy but it's perfect for just an overnight stay. The atmosphere in the lobby seemed very nice.
Very clean and tidy appartement, everything seems brand-new, even including the hair drier(in fact i don’t why it could be new.). The staff is nice and nice location, you could walk 10 minutes passing through a shopping mall and arrive the main station of Le Havre.
Hotel is located in a quiet and safe area. The bed was comfortable and shower was great. The room was clean and spacious.
Room also had a kitchen with pots, plates, spoon etc even though we did not use any. We only stayed one night but really enjoyed the stay.
This hotel was near perfection.
Room of generous size
Nice service and facilities
Good AC, which is a big plus if you stay during a heat wave
Very convenient location near La Havre center and near the beach
Convenient underground parking and good WiFi
Great location, so close to train station.
Friendly staff, always smiling at us.
Good ratio price - quality
Perfect for 1 quick stay in Le Havre (we only spent there 1 night before leaving somewhere else)
Staff very very helpful. Hotel cozy and super confy. Breakfast quite good.
Location not too far from the Centre and just few steps from tram stop.
Quite pricy but considering the time of the year..it's ok.
Station is just across the street, very good location. Staff was really friendly and gave us recommendations and lend us charger (since we missed the train and decided to stay in Le Havre last minute..)
Warm welcome. Cosy independant room in lovely environment with spectacular view on Le Havre only minutes walk from town center. Generous home made breakfast beautifully presented.
Wonderful New Apartment very cheap for the quality we got, we booked 2 apartments for $100 we were very impressed in how good it was. The staff super nice and speak English
The bed was excellent and the room was silent. The location is fantastic, you can park at the Hotel du Ville parking that is 3 min away and the price is really cheap.
This new hotel was clean and bright with really nice new decor in the reception and in the room. It was really good value. The bed was wonderful and huge!
