The staff at reception were welcoming and let us put our bottle of champagne in the bar fridge at reception while we waited for our room to be ready. The bottle was taken to our room and put into the fridge so it was already there when we got into the room a couple of hours later. There were lots of comfortable sofas to choose from downstairs while we waited for our room. The spa bath and fireplace room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The spa was a great way to relax. We had dinner elsewhere but when we were heading out that night, there was a pianist playing and it was a lovely atmosphere, with the fire burning too. There are some lovely old photographs on the walls, and the place has a lot of character. The next morning we enjoyed a really nice breakfast and the views across the valley were beautiful. And we really liked that check out was 11am ( though check in was from 3pm). We would definitely recommend and like to return.

The staff is so great, especially Connor! The facility is huge, with large rooms and a large kitchen and dining area, as well as an amazing sized common area and a tv room. The garden area is great as well, and it’s an easy walk from the train or to trails!

Direct train from Sydney.
Direct train from Sydney. Very quaint traditional old mining town, old fashioned 'high street' with plenty of places to stay and eat. We stayed in the grand Carrington Hotel which has a lot of history as part of the evolution of the town. Our main reason for visiting was to easily access the Katoomba based hop-on/off bus to visit The Blue Mountains. This worked perfectly and as well as seeing Katoomba and the blue Mountains, we also got to visit the pretty neighbouring village of Leura which is included in the route. Katoomba has everything you will need or find in a regional...
Katoomba has everything you will need or find in a regional town. The large supermarkets are available and open for longer hours for groceries (Aldi, Coles, Woolworths). The shops and restaurants close early, so check times and organise around that. There are limited number of restaurants and eateries in town. We ate at Rustico - this place is almost always full (even on weekdays) - best book ahead. We had one sunny day out of 3 days. Luckily that was enough to visit Scenic World, do the rides and walk around. We recommend taking the Blue Mountains Explorer Bus (hop-on hop-off) to minimise driving. The new Cliff Top walk to Wentworth Falls was excellent.
The new Cliff Top walk to Wentworth Falls was excellent. Just right level for me. It would be good if the shuttle buses went to Gordon Falls and Leura as I had to walk back along the roads a lot. Also access to the walk at Scenic World was closed, which was annoying as the walk is advertised to start there. It was Easter Sunday and very busy but this should have been made clear perhaps with signs at Katoomba Falls where the walk actually started from. I ate at 8 Things, great value and the RSL which was not so great. The Pool of Siloam is one of the best things in the mountains I discovered this weekend.KatherineAustralia - 10Scored 10

The town is lovely, great places to eat and drink, lots of attractions and view points, short drives to many other places. I really enjoyed it. Broken toilets, fans, lights, terrible seating, lack of outdoor furniture, cleanliness was atrocious, kitchen was filthy, bathrooms were filthy, parking was horrendous. No outdoor seating. Lack of care really by the responses of issues and never got the same person twice when contacting. Garden and outside area unkept, debris, boards with nails, garbage about. Katoomba is a beautiful town with the obvious features of the Three Sisters but if you go for a day trip west towards Lithgow etc you can find quiet waterfalls and swimming holes all to yourself and more stunning views!
