Fabulous location for town walking and lovely helpful friendly staff. The property was exceptionally clean and we enjoyed the daily breakfast. Lovely place to stay as our first stop on the Algarve. Louis and the team were wonderfully friendly and professional, Love to return someday.

This is a surprisingly large hotel - you'll get your steps in for the day just walking to your room and back! The underground car park is free and also massive. We parked near the entrance and then discovered it was a long walk to reception. And it was a long walk from here to the dining room. But the room (view over the pool) was large and had all the necessary facilities. It was only a short walk from the hotel into the centre of Tavira.

Tavira is definitely one of the most picturesque and...
Tavira is definitely one of the most picturesque and unspoilt towns in the Algarve. So far, it has escaped the mass building of apartments that now plague other places. But, unless you have a car, I'd recommend staying in the centre! Local transport is not very convenient, though trains to other towns are good. There's lots going on, though perhaps more geared towards adults than youngsters! Plenty of restaurants and cafés and the Clube de Tavira is a good spot for some local jazz on a Thursday. Bear in mind it's not directly on the coast - you need to take ferries to the islands nearby, but that's fun if the weather's good. Not so much if it's wet and windy 🙄. Bike rental is another good option. Another plus is being so near Spain - a trip to Seville is only a couple of hours away! My tip - if you're not with a car, don't stay on the outskirts, unless you just want to be by the pool all day! It's a long and boring walk into town! Do visit the little olive producer just out of town. At time of my visit, nearly the whole town was undergoing roadworks which meant half the streets were closed to traffic and all the cobbles and paving were up, making for dusty and uneven surfaces. Just beware!

Nice town in a very concise area.
Nice town in a very concise area. Catching boat from the downtown dock is better value for the trip to visit the beautiful "Ilha de Tavira Beach" (Tavira Island Beach), worth spending time there. Don't drive into the city, either walk or catch a Uber. Too much traffic and the endless road construction works mess everything out. Look it up on Google before you head that way as there are many more activities you can enjoy.

We stayed for one week but really could have stayed longer, but a week was enough for us to feel relaxed, enjoy the beach and the surrounding areas. Tavira is a pretty historic town with lots of amenities , great restaurants, bars and cafes with tourists but not tacky! and lots of day trips available. It’s a great walking and cycling area And the beach is truly magnificent. .

Tavira will typically draw those, who seek the architecture, history - it's idyllic and peacefull setting; and the beach second. Tavira has a trainstation,, so you are free to come and go without the hassle of traffic and foreign signs. This town will not attract the crowds who seek the plastic pleasures of Albufeira.

Tavira is 'beautiful' despite the fact that i have noticed it has become a destination place for day trippers and as such i would assume the local economy has reacted to that... Still it would be very selfish to keep such a jewel hidden away wouldn't it... Plenty of nice places to eat and drink on both sides of the river, my favourites are located opposite one another CAFE MIRA for day time and PAUSA restaurant in the evening, both in the same square... My favourite watching the world go by is most definitely 'snack bar ALAGOA' in a little square on the Porta Nova side of the river not that far from the best located 'Irish' pub opposite the bus station... you will struggle to miss either they are usually pretty busy... well worth at least one visit!... A must not miss opportunity also awaits at the strangely named without much kerb appeal at all 'Cantinho do Emigrante' the owner 'I assume he is anyway' doesn't smile a lot, but what he does on his open fired barbecue thingy with chicken, complete with chips and salad is AMAZINGLY delicious!!!
For the location and views alone, it would be hard to beat Residencial Mares. Directly opposite the ferry service to Tavira beach and with some of the best restaurants all within less than 5 mins walk. The view from our river view room was remarkable and the staff could not have done more to welcome us and make our week in Tavira so special. Our room and the hotel itself is characterful and the decor whilst not modern is very clean, we slept very well in the large bed with no noise. Excellent value for money

Before arriving I got a big Emil about their rules. Little posters everywhere about rules. It felt like I was in Germany and not Portugal. Bathroom a bit tight but was fine for a few days. Bonus huge rooftop patio and kitchen. You have to pay for coffee but kitchen stocked with beer and such to pay for. Good convenience. Room could be a bit noisy when other guests open the doors or talk when entering. Location is in the middle of the action!
Self-contained apartment with all the things that you need for self catering. It is not a hotel, it is an apartment and we had the place to ourselves. It also has a washing machine. There is parking on the street. There is a Pingo Doce grocery store a 5 min walk away to get supplies. There are lots of restaurants close and town and the Tavira island ferry are around a 10 minute walk away. All in all ideally located with all you need.
The staff is wonderful! They are always ready to give indications, take care of any last minute request.
Really loved these ladies. The one on the night shift is especially kind.
The hotel is close to the river and port, so it's a short walk to catch the boat to Tavira Island.
There is a big supermarket close to the hotel, which revealed to be a bonus.
The "movida" of Tavira is close to the hotel, like walking distance close.
we stayed a whole week in the one bedroom apartment, lovely place, spacious apartment with a nice outside open air space to sit or put washing out etc. staff were great, even lending us beach towels which was handy as were traveling with just cabin baggage. any request was no trouble at all, id definitely stay here again , the location was fabulous, and found it good value compared to other properties or hotels in the area
We loved the warmth and hospitality at Azul Sul, Jose welcomed us and explained everything we needed to know over a glass of really nice wine. He gave us very good recommendations in Tavira and Portugal in general. The guest house is very well designed and clean. The garden is absolutely gorgeous and a great place to get some sunshine and enjoy a drink!
At Azul Sul, you'll have definitely have a good time!
Fabulous hotel in very relaxing surroundings.
Great shuttle bus into Tavira centre available Wednesday through Sunday.
They will provide you with fresh towels daily for taking to the beach 🏖️
Waiting staff are so friendly and helpful.
The hotel gave us a number for the local water taxi it's the nicest way to travel and you can be collected from the hotel's private jetty.
We have been travelling around Portugal staying in lots of different places and I can say this was the best by far.
Centrally located, quiet enough though, all the facilities etc etc.
The main thing is the effort put in made it a perfect stay.
There is just enough character to the property that its charming and still functional, a difficult balance usually.
This is a compact and well-equipped place benefiting from some private outside space.
The hosts were attentive and friendly.
The location was convenient and local parking was free.
Tavira is a pleasant base from which to explore the lovey Eastern Algarve
We felt we were in authentic Portugal not just some tourist development based in Portugal.
The property and it’s staff are too notch. The meals and beverages were delicious, the pool beautiful and refreshing! The hotel backs up to a private beach which was a delight and a great surprise…there is a ferry at this beach to bring guests across to the full beach on the open ocean.
Beautiful Hotel and great size pool
Room was a good size for our family of 4.
Shower was the best!
So many options for breakfast with friendly accomodating staff, just let them know if you have any allergies and they will help.
We used the gym which was great
We loved the host... Good humor ..... Intelligent. Good wit.... A pleasure to talk with her during breakfast ..... And the BREAKFAST!!!! Out of this world!!!! And freshly squeezed orange juice..... Hard to find these days... even in Spain or Portugal.....
The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The restaurant gave us 2 of the most incredible dinners we had in all Portugal. The room was huge and super comfy right in front of the pool! We did some hikes walking distance from the hotel!
We stayed for a week during first week of November. Quite place across the street from Ferry to Tavira Island Beach. Internet speed is good for working remotely. Beds are comfortable and breakfast buffet was included and excellent.
Fantastic hotel. Lovely staff. Great rooftop bar. Lovely breakfast. Just a short stroll into Tavira old town. Great parking.
I could not fault this hotel, and we will return
