Great if you are stopping over for business - my stay was for leisure a small break - as a couple we like our food and history so this was perfect - a shame the museum and certain restaurants are not open on a Monday/ Tuesday. Overall stay was lovely met some characters in the local inns and in the park. Do research into what is open on certain days. We stayed at The Crown and it was great even caught a ghost on camera. Overall the village is quaint and has a handful of shops that are different and unique and well situated to the area. First night stay we went to Hawkyns thd food melted in your mouth and was superb. Easy to get to and walked to and from areas. The second day which was our last we went to The Kings arms to eat on the Monday was very quiet. Both loved the buildings and the history that came with them. We were told they do tours and a haunted pub tour. Will definitely come back in the future.

We enjoyed the restaurant that is inside The Crown Hotel. It is called Hawkyns and serves the most delicious Indian food.
The evening was a celebration thanks to Chetan and Rohan's friendly service.
Amersham is a wonderful small town and I look forward to exploring it further.

The olde world atmosphere is amazing, with a laid back feeling yet the service weithin the many restaurants and eateries is excellent. Everyone we met wanted that our experience in their facility was the best we could attain. This is the place where Oliver Cromwell's wife was born, the place of the Quaker martyrs it is a place of Tudor buildings and Georgian buildings, untouched on the outside. The Saracens Head Inn in a Tudor building with low beam ceilings, horse brasses hanging on the low slung beams. On one beam there are horse brasses of old style depictions of the former English coins before decimilisation. farthing, half penny, penny. It has a varied menu of food for lunch and dinner all cooked and presented in excellent fashion. We also tried the Mughal Indian restaurant in the high street the food again was excellent, the service friendly, attentative, respectfu and the portions large.l

We used to live locally but moved to the coast about 15 years ago, so yes, we are biased. Old Amersham is a fine old town with many pubs and
restaurants, well worth a visit if you haven't been before.
It was also used in many of the TV series of "Midsomer Murders"
Do a little research before coming and you will find plenty to keep you busy for a day at least.

Old Amersham is a charming and delightful town with many period buildings, excellent pubs and various restaurants. There is a large Tescos which depending on your view of Tescos and supermarkets is a good or bad thing. Lots of small independent shops. New Amersham has a more modern feel and good moderately sized town facilities including a record shop! It is on the tube at the end of one branch of the Metropolitan line and is 50m to London should you want to travel there.
Having lived here for far too many years this is as objective as I can get,
The accommodation is above possibly the best pub I've been in. Welcoming, well priced food, descent beer, great atmosphere. Just great.
The room was clean & tidy. The bed was comfy. The place is a bit quirky so don't expect a standard boring hotel chain. It's full of character, as you might expect in a 500 year old pub.
The town/village is delightful too. Well worth a stroll around.
There is no car parking onsite but if you ask it is available with a two minute walk
The hotel was super close to Old Town Amersham high street, luckily - when we arrived at 2am there were still people up to show us to our room. All the staff we came across were very kind. Bedroom was clean and comfortable and we appreciated the amenities such as coffee/tea/biscuits and toiletries. Breakfast was fine, usual pub style food - if you're vegan/have allergies I would just call ahead and see what they have for you.
I had quite a surprise when shown to my room - it was huge. Even if I had been a family of 4, it would have been a big room.
The breakfast also exceeded expectation. None of the usual hotel offerings of pastries, cereal and toast but a selection of cooked breakfasts. I chose the French toast which came with bacon, cheese, maple syrup and blueberries. It was lovely.
Steeped in history, old beams and creaky floor boards. Room was minimal decorated with bare wooden floorboards, comfortable king size bed and spacious ensuite bathroom, with soaps ,shampoos and piping hot water. The room we had was in the main hotel inn at the front facing the main road, which due to double glazing kept noise levels to a minimum.
lovely location - right on the village common land. Friendly staff and comfortable bar and restaurant. Quirky but surprisingly comfortable room (but mind your head!). Good outdoor seating area for the hottest day of the year! Great cooked breakfast and continental options available in room - with a fridge.
The public area was very nicely decorated and comfortable. Food menu very good
Location very good accessible to motorway and area where we had a party village and surroundings very peaceful and pleasant scenery.
Room was slightly small and would have put the cost of it at £85 -90
Fabulous hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. It is a beautiful old building but the rooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms are very modern and stylish. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
Room was really one of a kind and so great a diffrnet style of suite and very period to the type of hotel it is brilliant decor. To have a split level room was brilliant and also more comfortable as well
