Not how I remember it but it was forty years since I was there. Covid has shut down a lot of places so a bit of a ghost town but enjoyed walking around the walls which surround the town and reading all the information boards on the way. Crossing the bridge that spans the river tweed was a nice walk too. We had a meal in the amore restaurant which was really nice on our way back too the hotel we discovered a gem of a gift shop called grannies

It’s my home town, I grew up in Berwick and always love returning. The people are friendly, the architecture is great, it’s an ideal centre for walking, with a choice of countryside, sea views or river views. The high street looks a bit tired, but that’s in line with many town centres currently. There are still many independent shops and several restaurants supplying good food at a range of prices.

Centre a bit down on its luck like many towns these days.
Centre a bit down on its luck like many towns these days. But the walks around the old town and the walls are always splendid. Some interesting shops on Bridge Street - books, green produce, kitchen utensils.

A lovely location in Berwick with a double aspect room. We were particularly impressed with the size of the room and its cosy and unique features which ensured that we were able to relax at the end of the day. Great selection of books to browse. Staff at the hotel were welcoming and friendly and we particularly enjoyed the layout of the breakfast room which meant that we were able to chat with fellow guests quite easily. The breakfast was wonderful and Tracy was so friendly and attentive.
Having visited for a work training event last year, I wasted no time taking advantage of a last minute deal to book Marshall Meadows. The room and experience as a hotel guest was even more exceptional than I could have anticipated. The room was excellent, thoughtfully set which meant I could enjoy the benefits of a boutique hotel stay and some space to catch up with work at the same time. Breakfast is included and is 10/10 - worth visiting for the avocado on toast alone!
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely apartment It was very comfortable, sparkling clean and well equipped. We loved the themed decor and the log burning stove. The apartment is in the town centre so it is easy to get to shops, eateries and the beach. Highly recommend if you are visiting Berwick. Thanks too for the prosecco - a great surprise and the perfect start to our mini break.
Great location, right in centre of Berwick upon Tweed, there is parking outside hotel, but couldn’t find a spot plus you have to pay. Free car park only 150 yards down the road, so wasn’t an issue, but likely to be busy at weekends with day trippers. We was lucky to find a spot and stayed there for duration of stay. You are allowed 24hours free parking, but then no return within 4 hours.
The Nook is a comfortable and cosy place to stay. The hosts had added lovely little touches such as supplies so we could have a hot drink without needing to dash straight out to the supermarket, and toiletries in the bathroom. The Nook is close to the old bridge across the river and really handy for walking into Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
Berwick is a nice place with a lot of green spaces and some terrific defences of the old town which are largely intact. Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle are just down the road and there are miles of deserted sandy beaches. Pity it's the North Sea and not the Med...
Hotel breakfast was good.
The location by whiteadder water was exceptional with walking immediately outside. Wildlife brilliant including one otter sighting at the nearby wier.
Incredibly comfortable and well equipped. Location close to Berwick great. We found local people very friendly and open for a chat.
The location was perfect, parking for our car and a lovely walk over the bridge to Berwick. I loved watching the waves from our beautiful room with a super comfy bed, we had a great sleep every night. My husband also loved going for a swim every morning in the pool. We will be back.
The staff were absolutely fantastic and they made extra effort to ensure that my check in went smoothly. The location is fantastic and overall I am really impressed with Parade School guest house. Would highly recommend it for anyone hoping to visit Berwick.
The food at this hotel was amazing, lots on your plate. The staff were so attentive and were able to answer all our questions about the area. The room was fresh smelling, warm and very clean, the bed was super comfy. We really enjoyed our weekend
We were happy with everything, especially Keanne, who was onsite daily and went above and beyond to meet our needs. The management was also easy to reach and solved any issues we had. Berwick-upon-Tweed is a delightful city to visit!
Lovely Couple and very quiet nice hotel, breakfast was great and property is in lovely location, parking is limited and weather was horrible but couple were full of local knowledge and gave great recommendations for places to eat.
Food was excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is perfect location next to the abbey and with a great view of the castle . And as the island is cut off twice a day by the tide it is very peaceful.
The Castle Hotel is such close walk from the train station. We were greeted warmly and offered afternoon snacks, sandwiches and quiche. Was simply lovely after a long day of travel.
The hotels position next to the town walls and harbour side.
Friendly staff and a delicious breakfast.
There is free 24hour parking 2 minutes away on the harbour.
The cottage was fantastic and had everything we could possible need. Views across the fields and walks to the beach or town of Berwick. Beds super comfy too!
