The whole stay was lovely. Staff second to none. So attentive and friendly. Ate in the restaurant food plentiful. The only downfall was the tv didn't work.
Definitely would visit again but would stay in the main hotel not the hut.

I am surprised there aren't more higher end accommodations like the Old Hall in the Peak District, I am more surprised at just how good and hard working Old Hall is. It's an excellent place to stay, one which doesn't rest on its laurels or gets sloppy due to the lack of competition. I have stayed there four times over the last few years and enjoyed every trip.
One issue; they could do with a decent claret on the wine list, that's all.

The nature reserve was a nice walk from where we stayed, great for the muscles on the thigh's, definitely a place for walkers of experience and adults and children that are wishing to take up walking as a hobby, older generation can get around in a car,the local shop as always is bit pricey,so if going on a budget thenmake sure you take all you need, the local people are friendly to

Chinley is a small, quiet village with a good train service, and just enough shops and eating places. It is on the edge of the Peak District, so a great base for walkers. The Old Hall Inn is a great pub/restaurant.

Local walks that did not require a drivie to start point..
Local walks that did not require a drivie to start point.. Lovely scenery. Nearby villages on foot with local train station. National Trust Lyme House very close. Buxton close for eating, theatre. cinema and opera
Plenty to occupy oneself,.
Perfect home base for a trip to the Peaks. There are some nice walks in Chinley but it's also just one easy train stop from Edale which has some mind-blowing walks.
Tasty and generous breakfast included with the room. Really appreciate the option to add a packed lunch
The room was spotless and bed was very comfortable. We stayed in the Cress Annex which was a bit on the smaller side but has an amazing view of the hills
A great 3 night stay in Chinley. The property is extremely large and spacious and has three floors so ensure that you can carry your suitcases upstairs. The kitchen downstairs can get rather cold but upstairs heats up nicely and can feel nice and cosy. It was a pleasant stay with a couple of cafe's downstairs which was handy. Overall a lovely stay in a lovely village and our host was very polite and helpful. Thank you!
Great location in a quiet village with supermarket a few yards from the door. Well-equipped first floor flat with balcony overlooking lovely back garden and view in the distance. Friendly host who had left tea, coffee, milk and biscuits for our arrival. Convenient location for walks and trips. Had dinner in excellent pubs and restaurants in Chinley, Chapel-en-le-Frith and Whaley Bridge.
Completely relaxed after a stress free weekend here. Personal welcome by gracious hosts. Lovely private & quiet setting. Hill views in both directions. Chippy & local store 30 second walk away. Well equipped kitchen, & well proportioned clean rooms. The terrace, log burner + hotel quality bedsheets put the cherry on top. We felt far away from city life, yet only 30 mins from home.
We slept in the annex the Paper Mill Inn. The location is perfect very idyllic. The Old Hall Inn is an excellent base in the beautiful High Peak district. Food lunch & dinner are of very nice taste and quality. Good selection of drinks. Very agreable to sit outside when the weather us nice and have an aperitivo on one of the terrasses.
Very cosy homely feeling to the place.
Every single member of staff we came in to contact with were pleasant, helpful, cheery and ultimately professional....have visited many hotels and resorts in my time, and genuinely believe if an award could be given for customer service, the Old Hall Inn would win hands down, but if they didn't there would be outrage from all the guests.
Every single member of staff was absolutely fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable and would do anything to help. The hotel is surrounded by stunning countryside and is perfectly located for some lovely walks. It is also tastefully decorated and serves truly delicious homemade food as well as a fine selection of beer and wine!
It was our first time in Derbyshire and Chinley was a lovely village to have visited.
The food at both The Old Hall and The Paper Mill was absolutely delicious and faultless.
Had the choice of either a continental and/or cooked breakfast. The hot breakfast was delicious and the women that served us were so lovely.
The Lamb is perfect in every way. Lovely welcoming owners who were happy to chat to us in the bar. The room had some lovely touches such as toothbrushes and toothpaste in the bathroom, and other little things that you don’t get from other hotels. The pub is lovely and cozy, and the food was amazing.
The hotel is lovely; the owner who looked after us personally was really understanding and helped us with any request that was not what we had originally booked. He also went out of his way to make sure we were looked after, I highly recommend going to this part of the world.
It was an amazing experience. The hotel itself is extremely comfortable and cozy, so is the pub. The staff is great, pleasant and really eager to help. We really recommend as a great place to stay and rest after a full hiking day in the Peak District.
The rustic charm of the bar and dining area with wood burners, appropriate prints on the walls and various curios hanging from beams created a great atmosphere.
The en-suite bedroom (room 2) would not shame a modern 5star hotel.
Comfortable, spatious house in the heart of Chinley village with shop, cafe, convenience store, Indian takeaway & chippy all within a few minutes walk. Also a good choice of lovely walks from the doorstep.
