Everyone at The George was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the shampoo and bath gel smelled very nice. The hotel is walking distance from almost everything in Wallingford.

The gardens are inspiring, a good lesson to respect vegetables, herbs and fruits.

Unfortunately we arrived quite late so not really able to explore the village, though we did have a walk around the grounds of the Abbey. We would have liked to visit the Astin Martin museum though found out it was actually closed on Sundays. Very interesting historic village.
Very interesting historic village. Little through traffic thanks to the bypass so quiet. Dorchester Abbey is well worth a visit. Lovely walks all around, lots of footpath signs. A 10 minute easy walk brings you to the bypass where you can catch a frequent bus service into Oxford/Wallingford, and the buses run until early morning!Lloyd613United Kingdom - 10Scored 10

It was our first visit there and we were pleasantly surprised how beautiful this village was, full of old traditional charm and quaint cottage style houses. There were a few pubs there offering a variety of food and drinks. We really enjoyed the fish platter at The George Inn as their Friday offer. We had a pleasant walk around the village and visited the Old Abbey.

Beautifully refurbished coaching inn, with lovely traditional furnishings but very much modern facilities in the room. Very hospitable staff who go that extra mile to make sure all is ok. Nice breakfast with excellent choices. The location superb if you are a Midsommer Murder's fan. Tale a tour of local villages where scenes were filmed for the series including the beautiful Dorchester Abbey opposite the hotel.
