We love the Pheasant! set in lovely countryside - we felt really at home, Diana and her staff looked after our every request - the breakfast was delicious and served with care and attention. This is a very special place that has the feeling of a being welcomed as family - no surprise that we will be visiting again soon.

A pleasant Essex small town, but the high street is on a hill. It has a range of small, interesting shops and a good supermarket. There is an assortment of eating places. We ate at The Bull at the bottom of the hill. The food was fine but the service was very slow.

Typical Essex town, nice range of independent shops and national retailers like Sainsbury and Costa. The Bull hotel is central to the town but its interior experience does not match the exterior appearance.

The Riverside chip shop was great value.
The Riverside chip shop was great value. The Shiish restaurant is a must visit lovely food. Small town shops mostly specialised or limited stock range. Very pretty area Sudbury not far away Gainsborough's birthplace.
Friday market there. To get the best from a quiet town is to time your visit when an event is being held if you prefer lively.
I loved this place! the room was clean and spacious with a lot of nice touches. very comfortable bed and nice bathtub. breakfast was delicious and cooked by the man himself. there is a pub downstairs, and a patio and picnic area outside. halstead is an attractive little town not far from London. highly recommended
Inn is situated close to the centre of Halstead. It is a traditional pub/Inn with a good range of beers in the bar. Staff are friendly, the room was comfortable, it has a car park at the rear. Our breakfast was excellent. It consisted of a cooked breakfast with cereals and toast provided.
It was a good location and within walking distance of the town (Halstead) however we did initially have some difficulties getting to the property due to the one-way system.
It was clean and nicely furnished and had a small balcony.
The neighbourhood was nice and quiet at night.
This is a bed only accommodation, which I found to be good as it meant that I did not have have breakfast at a set time.
There are a number of places to gat breakfast in Halstead. Myself I went to McDonald's in Braintree.
Bathroom looked very new, recently upgraded. Public car park next door was useful as hotel car park was full. Location was good for town centre. It was a good cheap price and was OK for a one night stay.
Great to have a beer after arriving. Then a good night sleep and great breakfast. The walk with my dog showed a lovely environment. Glad to have been in Halsteads Dog Inn. Thanks Richard!
