Born of an ancient civilization, Cairo is a vast metropolis centered around the Nile. Its sheer scale can feel overwhelming (especially when flying over Cairo Airport), so plan ahead. An obvious starting point are the Giza Pyramids. Although the pharaohs are long gone, the grandeur of their burial pyramids, the Sphinx and Solar Boat are testament to their ambition.
The city’s Egyptian Museum houses a dazzling display of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including finds from Tutankhamen's tomb in Luxor. Around the corner is Tahrir, a huge square and focal point of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution.
East is Islamic Cairo, home to the 9th-century Ibn Tulun Mosque, Al-Azhar Mosque (site of the world’s oldest university), and the Khan el-Khalili souk (remember to haggle). The Citadel, with its elegant Mohammed Ali Pasha Mosque, sits on a hill offering far-reaching city views.
If you need a break from cultural tours, take a Nile cruise by felucca, spot wildlife in Wadi Digla desert park or visit Egypt’s top theme parks: Dream Park and Magic Land, where you can tour Egyptian TV studios.
Before heading to your Cairo accommodations, sample the local cuisine – the falafel and fuul (bean paste) are delicious. Coffee is a staple and there are hundreds of shisha bars, while major Cairo hotels have bars serving alcohol.

Cairo traffic is not for the faint hearted; my advice use local hotel car or london cabs egypt especially if disabled. They are very good. 7akarascooters wete fab for hiring mobility scooter. People are lovely and helpful. We booked hotel car to take us to the pyramids and bought tkts there for entry. Car to khan el khalili bazaar. Londoncabsegypt to old cairo museum. Brilliant. Car and tkts via hotel for nile cruise and sound and light show. All recommended. Carry lots of small notes inegypt pounds or dollars for tipping. We will always remember egypt with fondness and awe.

Are you going to Cairo to visit Giza and the Cairo Museum?
Are you going to Cairo to visit Giza and the Cairo Museum? You will not regret it.
Not many other reasons to go there. To say that traffic is chaos would be unfair to the word chaos. Be prepared. Noisy and polluted city. But, the archeological sites are mesmerizing. I believe once the new airport and hotel are open and fully functional near Giza, that would be the moment to go. Avoiding the East bank of the Nile and the long drive to the International airport all together will be the ticket

The city was so dusty and also the air pollution feel ill.
The city was so dusty and also the air pollution feel ill. Everybody wants money for everything. I spent 15 days. This is so very large travel scale. I recommended everybody a maximum of 4 days. Only the archeological area was magnificent. Islamic Cairo doesn't feel good and safe but the city is safe. We walked at 2 am from Tahrir Square to my hotel no body made me uncomfortable.

Cairo is manic.
Cairo is manic. There are no rules when it comes to driving and no safe pedestrian crossings either. It’s just cross where and when you can!
I found them bias towards fellow Egyptians as whenever you had to queue for the museum, pyramids etc the locals got another kiosk opened for them or put into a different line which we certainly do not do in England!
The Pyramids and Sphinx were all I was hoping them to be. Such a shame you get hassled constantly for taxis, camels, tips, sellers wanting you to buy things, kids coming up to you in the streets. It ruins the overall experience somewhat. Because of this you don’t know when someone is being genuine.
Uber is easy to get and reliable. It also saves haggling the correct price and you can tip accordingly.
The Cairo Tower gave us some fab views over the city, even seeing the pyramids in the distance, if rather hazy. Food was cheap and so was Uber.
All in all the food we had was wonderful and I saw some lovely sights which is the main thing.

From assisting with booking to arranging airport transfers, their dedication to customer satisfaction is evident. The value for money is exceptional, making it the best hotel booking I've made. The view is the best I have ever had in my life. Hands down, you need to stay here and get a room with a balcony and view. But the view from the rooftop terrace is even more breathtaking. Service is fantastic, loved our airport driver Mohammed and the night manager Husam, as well as the breakfast servers. Clean and comfortable rooms and the bathroom was also clean and functional. This isn't a luxury hotel, but you it's been one of the best hotel experiences we have had.
The best part was the fantastic 5 star level service everyone here gives. Also, The view from the roof top of the pyramids in incredible! We also had a very good view of them from. Our balcony which was cool. Also the location is very convenient for getting to the pyramids. A lot of things going on around the hotel. The room was cleaned very well each day we were there. The mattress and pillows were extremely comfy ! I highly recommend.
The room was really nice, clean and modern with welcome water and some sweets and fruits. The free shuttle service runs every 30min to the airport and it is very convenient, if you have to stay overnight and have an early flight out. If you come late at night, I still recommend taking an uber and go to the city center: cheaper at the end. The restaurant La Orangerie inside the hotel is good: inexpensive and tasty. The staff is freindly.
The room had everything needed for a solo traveler coming for few days. The location is great because everything is nearby. The staff was the best part of the hotel. Super nice, friendly, respectful and very, very helpful. I'm not sure I've ever seen such a genuinely good staff. Every single one of them. Do not ever change them. The wifi was working perfectly which is very rare for Egypt. I would recomment it to anyone, no mistake.
The rooms were clean and very cozy, the brakfast was big and tasty, with egyptian food. Also, the location of the hostel was very close to the center, especially the Tahrir square and the Egyptian Museum. But the best thing was the help from Soha, the hotel recepcionist, who was so kind and helpful! She explained us a lot of egiptian traditions, gave us the best indications, and make of our stay a safe and joyful experience!
A stay at Desert Pyramids View Inn is a delightful blend of classic luxury and unparalleled views. The hotel's team is not only friendly and cheerful but also incredibly helpful, making your experience truly memorable. Their curated list of tours to iconic Egyptian sites like the pyramids, Dahshur, Memphis, Saqqara, the Egyptian Museum, and the Cairo Citadel enhances the overall appeal of this charming hotel.
I am from Nigeria and I travelled alone. I came as a guest and I left here with a family. The services are superb: restaurants with a view of the pyramid, clean room, good wifi, free airport pickup, staff speaks good English and are friendly, daily breakfast, affordable price for tour through the hotel, best location for touring around Egypt and close to the pyramids. It is highly recommended for travellers.
Excellent property and very convenient to activities and fantastic Piramids view. Front desk staff is extremely efficient, pleasant and helpful. Specially the young guys-Mohamed, Ahmed & Islam (Some other people, I don’t remember the name) Property is clean and has a fantastic old time charm. The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Egypt
Our stay at the Sphinx golden gate pyramids hotel exceeded our expectations, this family run hotel attended to our needs promptly, gave good advice for excursions around Egypt and all came with a good energy and vibe. A very authentic Egyptian atmosphere with great food and very friendly staff. The rooftop was exceptional, with views of the pyramids. Would definitely recommend
The warmest, cleanest and nicest hotel in our trip to Egypt. It is cleaner and Nicer than many 5 stars hotel in Cairo. Omar was súper helpulf and speaks very good english. There were plenty of towels and ammenities, good hair drier, enough places to charge you phone, Heat/ac, and súper súper clean. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone staying at Giza.
The location is really great, right on the Nile river, the staff were really great and always helpful. The rooms are spacious, clean and equipped with water everyday, the breakfast is really good, large variety and tasty! The hotel itself is beautiful and has so much to offer, restaurants, casino, some shopping, really nice for a stay in Cairo
This is our best hotel in Egypt, everything is new and clean and the service is extraordinary. The manager makes you feel like family from the very first moment. The view from the terrace is magical and it's a 1min walk to the entrance of the pyramids. I recommend this hotel to everyone.
Airport transfer at a very reasonable price.
The hotel and guestrooms are beautifully decorated and the bed is really comfortable. There is a great showerhead with hot water for the best showers I've had in Egypt. In the morning, I was treated to a delicious Egyptian breakfast. This was a comfortable place for me to land in Cairo before carrying on with the rest of my trip.
Top location, just 10 minutes walking from the Egyptian museum; stores and restaurants very close to the hotel. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and kind. The room was very nice, spacious and clean. Free wifi. Great breakfast. Best value for money
Very badic, clean with all the amenities you find in a 4 star hotel. Nice and quiet area. Stores and restaurants are within walking distance. Very close to the airport. On par with any 4 star hotel, yet very simple. Price you can't beat.
Everything was great, the staff are brilliant really friendly and helpful can't say enough good things about the staff and hotel 5 stars in my opinion. If youl looking for the best view of pyramids this is the best choice.
