Loved walking around the old town, the 'quiet centre',...
Loved walking around the old town, the 'quiet centre', central market. We didn't plan our visits very well because all museums are closed on Monday so we didn't get to see as many as we had hoped.
We took the train out to Jurmala (beach) which was lovely but we were blessed with great weather.
Learn to say 'hello' and 'thank you' in Latvia. It goes a long way.
Latvians are very polite and we found Riga to be extremely clean.
Oh, great coffee too!

The Old Town was beautiful.
The Old Town was beautiful. Fantastic architecture everywhere. We were there in the snow and it added a beauty to the town. The huge food market was interesting and full of great foods to try. The waterways around the old town separating the centre were lovely to walk around. The bar and food scene was great and we ate and drank our way through our weekend.

Riga is a very nice city to visit.
Riga is a very nice city to visit. I personally would go in spring-autumn but winter is also good. Whether you are interested in arts, music or just walking around the place - Riga has something to offer to anyone. The National library is worth visiting even if you are not doing any research and need reading rooms, it's a very interesting piece of contemporary architecture. Theatres, music, parks, buildings - honestly, you'll never regret going

Nice view at the monuments. Some good lighting decoration.
Nice view at the monuments. Some good lighting decoration. Very lively X-mas market. Nice Cathedral. Good bus and Tram service.
Do not miss Central market. Food options. Bargain shops. Fruit shops. Everything
The location is excellent, very close to the old town but not right within, so going to the city center and the parks is also just a 5 minute walk. Bus and train station were also basically around the corner.
Ramune is an excellent host, very communicative and eager to help. Small details in the rooms, like a chocolate bar hanging at the door before checkout, show that she really cares. Amenities also just as described (like a big and good hair dryer instead of the cheap, generic ones at a regular hotel).
Riga Ibis was clean and friendly. No problems with checking in. Breakfast was served every morning and was decent. Shower was good. Staff was helpful and was able to answer our questions. Internet was great and worked well! Hotel has a small bar in the lobby, but there is so much to do in the area that we went elsewhere, Hotel is walking distance to the old town, shopping areas, and the historic Riga Central Markets (a must see!)
We loved this hotel. It is in a great location for visiting all the sites in the Old Town in Riga. The staff and service are fantastic could not do enough for you. We arranged for a transfer from and to the airport through reception which was great. The hotel photos do not do the hotel any justice, it makes it look dated, however the hotel is amazing! I would highly recommend
we have been in this hotel for the 2nd time. Nice and clean family room, good value for the price. Good breakfast, very nice staff. Both, the airport and the old city center of Riga can be easily reached by public transport, the stops are in front of the hotel. There is a restaurant in the hotel, with good food for good price. There are also shops and other restaurants nearby.
Grand Poet is located close to the Old Town on a quiet street across from a park. Room was clean and spacious with a comfortable desk to work at. Hotel is very quiet and I slept well. After trying a number of different hotels in Riga, Grand Poet is now my clear favorite. All of the main sites in the Old Town and Art Nouveau district are in walking distance.
Great location in Old Town Riga, lots of places to see and restaurants around. The host was very responsive and assisted with an issue promptly. The curtain bed was a great touch to help us sleep in, and having access to TV to watch the FIBA Basketball Tournament was a treat. Easy to get in and out and felt secure. Wonderful local cafe right next door.
My second stay here. It’s very well located hotel for exploring Riga. We were upgraded to a 14 floor room with view of the old town which was spectacular. Room was clean, comfortable and a baby crib was provided for free. Parking was very easy and discounted as a guest of the hotel. The breakfast was also really good.
Location is great, close to the bus to the airport. A few minutes walk and you can reach the center of the old town. There’s a lift so very convenient for family with young kids. Host is very nice, they let us check in early and left our luggage at the apartment after check out since we had an evening flight.
We had a very pleasant stay, the hotel was very clean and comfortable with a good breakfast and facilities. The price for the quality of the hotel was reasonable. The location was perfect. Right in Riga old town, round the corner from the beautiful park and close to the airport bus stop
Great location right in the Old Town of Riga, friendly and helpfull staff, very good breakfast food and the spa area is very nice, clean. The hotel has everything for a good stay in Riga.
You can visit the old town walking and for sure you will find the way back without a map.
Location is great, close to the old town and to the bus and railway station so you can explore Riga/Latvia. Shopping mall Origo is next door. The girl at the reception was very friendly. Very nice breakfast. Car parking just in front of the hotel 15 euros per day.
Perfect location for exploring Riga and extremely safe area to stay after a night out in the Old town. The bus stop is practically outside the hotel which makes the airport transfer cheap. Great breakfast lots of good options and the spa was fantastic.
the room was clean and spacious with everything you needed in your stay, the location was perfect, in the center of the old town, so restaurants , cafes and grocery stores a short walking distance, in all I highly recommended this hotel
Perfect location in the center of Old Town of Riga, with walking distance to lots of city attractions. Cozy and charming hotel with friendly staff and good breakfast. Easy arrangement for late check out.
Location was good, near old town and market halls. A little far from the riga center though. Breakfast was quite normal hotel breakfast. We also had our room early which was really positive.
Decent hotel in a quiet area. I had an early bus from Riga and this hotel was less than a 5 min walk. Around 10 min walk to the old town.
Room was big and clean. Stuff is great
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is good, as it was very close to Old Town Riga. The breakfast seemed to have a little something for everyone.
