Incredibly kind volunteers running the place. The by-donation meals were excellent and made for a very good vibe at dinner and breakfast. The resident cats are also super friendly. Amazing views from the property.

The house is amazing. In the countryside, super calm, private space for grill and swimming pool. The owners live next door but they are discrete and even do the laundry for you. What yo say? Diana, the host, is amazing. Super helpful and kind, always there for you. Perfect for a fanily vacation or a remoew work in Gran Canaria. The house is modern, everything is modern and you can see the owner put a lot of effort on it. Two separate rooms and a huge sitting room with a kitchen corner. Bonus: there is also a pony in the property and I'm sure if you ask Diana she will be willing to let you pet it. Overall amazing stay, I recommend

We wanted a base, away from the very touristy south coast...
We wanted a base, away from the very touristy south coast resorts, that would enable us to explore the island's mountains, and its historical and cultural attractions by hire car. Vega de San Mateo turned out to be a delightful hill town, which was big enough to provide everything we needed (such as two big supermarkets, interesting shops, restaurants and bars). The town really felt like it was for the local people - with only a few visitors and tourists. That made it perfect for us!

Vega de San Mateo is a rural place in the mountains of Gran Canaria. Great to walk in the mountains and make a visit tot Pico de las Nieves, Roque Nublo en lovely small villages such as Tejeda, Artenara and Las Lagunetas.

Great location, nice host and amazing heated pool and whirpool. The weather wasnt too nice the second and third day but we were lucky on the first to enjoy the view and the pool. According to the guy working there we should have stayed in the Junior suite but we were given the Pool House which it was fine considering it wasnt high season. Otherwise it would have been a real nightmare to open the door and have people sitting right in front of your window the whole day and evening. Also the apartment had a 1square meter toilet with a tiny little glassdoor open above and below which made me and boyfriend shared way too much during the private moments people would have in a normal toilet with a normal door. Be ready to smell more than you want from your partner. Also if you are talker than me (1,55) you will have to pee and do the other things wit open doors. Sorry, but this really has to be taken into account before you book. The rest is great so if tou are open enough (or lucky to get one od the other apartments with normal doors) you will have a great relaxing time here! Tip: no convenient store nearby so you’d better come with a car for anything you might need (pharmacy or grocery) as San Mateo is ca. 15min by car.MariangelaGermany - 10Scored 10

Great location. Very cozy apartment in a quiet cul de sac. Friendly and helpful owner. There is a nearby bar that offers good value dinners. However, general food and other restaurants are some way off, so bring what you need/like to eat.

Pros first: if you have a car it's a good location to explore the mountains away from the tourists at the coastal resorts. Lovely friendly staff and it's certainly a quirky place with interesting buildings and gardens. Room was comfortable enough and large (though not luxurious). Honesty bar and pool area were fine.

Perfect location in the centre and in the beautiful Vega de San Mateo. Directly opposite dulceria. We also had some cakes waiting for us to try :-) You can't park in front of the apartment but it is not a problem as there is a lot of free spaces on nearby streets.
