It's a city with not much to offer. You're better off in La Paz, where the views are nicer, the scenery is just better. But you're really much better off in the more rural places, in the mountains, by the lakes and away from the cities.

Santa Cruz de la Sierra is an interesting city with a busy and parcely old part downtown. You find museums, the main plaza with the cathedral, shops for everyone, big restaurants and small places who sell delicious local food. Also thera are some modern shopping malls as also black markets where you find everything you might need for living. Cultural events are offered and some really nice places with abundant semi-tropical vegetation as well as places with a lake to swim and hotels. You can take a taxi or go by bus to almost every place you like, in general it is very safe, only in the outskirts you should be more careful and maybe not go there at nigt. Always take your purse with important things in front of you - just in case!
I certainly recommend Santa Cruz for a visit! A little bit outside there are the sanddunes and the botanical garden and other places like the Chiquitania, also very worth visiting!

Friendly people (is famous for its hospitality).
Friendly people (is famous for its hospitality). Is the most productive area of the country, you can find everything you expect of a big city. I like my staying and I will be back with more time and better organized agenda. Given the size of the city and the weather (mostly humid and hot) a car is necessary to visit properly Santa Cruz.

Nothing much to see in Santa Cruz, especially if you want to avoid catching Dengue Fever. I avoided traveling to more rural areas or even to the botanical gardens due to the high number of dengue cases there. In the city itself there's very little to see, although the nicer parts have some decent-looking restaurants and bars, so maybe during the dry season (less mosquitos) it might be a nice place to relax.

Santa cruz has a old historic center, a bit dangerous.
Santa cruz has a old historic center, a bit dangerous. Better to stay in the modern hotel district of Avenida San Martin, locals call this the VIP zone. Many nice restaurants and cafes, stores, boutiques and shopping malls.
I highly suggest you visit the jesuit mision area!
The five day circuit is perfect to see all the misions.

We liked Casa de Camba and the city center.
We liked Casa de Camba and the city center. It is not easy to walk on some streets because they are uneven. We didn’t like seeing the trash in the streets. Other than that there is plenty to do and see in the city.

I loved the location. It was within 2 blocks of everything: Restaurants, shopping district, etc. No taxi was needed for the vast majority of my movement due to La Siesta's proximity to so many amenities. The staff were all very friendly and professional. They were also helpful during all my interactions within them over the course of 2 weeks. The price was reasonable especially compared to other hotels I frequented in SC, BO in the past.
We were provided with a free welcome drink on arrival which was lovely.
Very helpful and friendly staff.
The room was large and very clean. Note that the shower and sink has see through glass from the bedroom.
Facilities were great as was breakfast.
There is a lovely coffee shop attached to the hotel.
The hotel is very trendy and attracts lots of people due to the coffee shop.
A lovely place to stay.
The location is perfect, so close to the very heart of the old city and easy to get access to transportation to elsewhere. Very large and spacious rooms with a huge terrace area and a good kitchen if you want to be independent with your food. And most of all, very kind hosts who didn’t hesitate to help us in every way we needed and made us feel so very welcome on our first step inside Bolivia.
The property is quite nice. Maintained properly on the Bolivian level. Hot water and cold water shower. Ok clean. Good wify (above and on the ground floor) and comfy seats with plugs near them. Moreover, they keep your bags at the counter (or behind), with staff all the time, so it felt secure (for me).
All in all, great experience : ).
Very good hotel, in nice neigbourhood, with shops and restaurants nearby. You can even walk to the center (40 minutes). Nice, comfortable rooms, very good breakfast with nice selection of fresh fruits and different fresh juices. Staff at the reception was very helpful, professional and friendly, especially Francisco.
My stay in Bolivia was much better than it would have been anywhere else because I stayed. The host went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and happy. I stayed a whole week, and it was enjoyable. I recommend this accommodation. Best value!
I liked the hotel, I had to stay in town for one more night so I staye here again. Pool is nice it just needs a few chairs around it. Room was great. Breakfast eas good. Very secure parking for my motorbike.
Friendly staff. Very modern hotel. My room was well designed with a jacuzzi (not tested) offering looks over the city.
I will return. It’s one of the nicest hotels in town at good price ( during covid ).
This hotel is fabulous. It was too chilly to use the outdoor pools but the indoor pool was fantastic! Breakfast was great; meals were great; staff is super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
picked it up because of proximity to airport . unfortunately transfer did not showed up and I had to pick up a taxi which robbed me in the way to the hotel terrible experience
