We had a wonderful time! The hosts were the highlight of our stay, and their adorable dog made us feel right at home. They were incredibly friendly and available, treated us well, and gave us great tips about everything. They even made us coffee early in the morning when we had to leave early. Breakfast was always delicious, and the room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Overall, it was a great experience, and we would definitely recommend it to others.

Smaller and less touristy with locals attentive to your need and willingness to help. Ephesus Archeological Park was the highlight of the visit. There is no dearth of choices for eating - from local Turkish dishes to Burger King. Selchuk is more convenient to stay as beginning from morning you can at your leisurely pace cover St John's Basilica, Artemis Temple, Ephesus Archeological Park and Virgin Mary's House all in one day.

we stayed in Sirince.
we stayed in Sirince. An antique village in the mountains outside of Selcuk. A 19th Century experience in small town Turkey. Bring good shoes for steep hills and uneven ground. Good natural foods from local farms. Expect an authentic experience.

I’m not sure why anyone from away would come to Selcuk unless they were there to see the antique ruins of Ephesus. That is certainly why we came. If you are in Turkey- I suggest it is a must see.
Ephesus is one of the most excavated sites in the world. It is humbling to see how much as a civilized culture we have forgotten- or forgot and have had to rediscover over the millenniums.
That said, Selcuk had decent dining options, and other attractions like the Ephesus Museum (where the artifacts are housed), and the Saint John Basilica which are fantastic. Both are blocks from the Akanthus hotel (which I reviewed separately and highly recommend .

Amazing place in order to visit not only Ephesus but other ancient greek cities nearby too. The city in itself has also many touristic spots in itself (like the lonely column that remains ot the ancient Artemision).

We visited Selcuk for one night to visit Ephesus and a friend staying locally. The town was lovely to walk through and easy to navigate. Ephesis was easy to get to, but the tour guide options were more challenging to navigate (beforehand).
There are a couple of beautiful restaurants, so do your research.
The taxis are a drag. Most have fixed fees but unclear what they include. One time we paid 100TL to go from Selcuk to the hotel, and the next taxi driver charged us 400TL to return. It was a 10-minute drive. Be aware that if you order a taxi to Ephesus, they may include the 'whole trip', whatever that means...
Ephesus is worth the visit if you're into ancient history or faith-based movements. You will want to get the audio guide, a guided tour or look up a DIY one online.
The Ephesus museum can be done in 45 - 1 hour if you are not a details person. Lots of well-curated objects but narrative and contextualising could do with some work. You might want to brush up on your periods before visiting.
The property was centrally located. Staying there you have easy access to restaurants and religious sites. With that said, it is still a quiet neighborhood and we had a great night sleep.
Breakfast was delicious. The variety of food available was the best we encountered on our month long travel through Greece and Turkey.
You could tell that the owner and employees had great attention to detail and dedication to making the experience great for their guests.
We wish we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend this hotel !!!
The beds are actually so comfortable! So much better than others we encountered during our 2-week Turkey trip. The staff were welcoming and accommodating, offering an upgraded room and an earlier breakfast than normal as we were planning to check out early. Breakfast was a delicious spread of classic Turkish delicacies, served in a beautiful back garden. The location is within walking distance to historical sights and great restaurants and shopping, but on a relaxing street away from the noise.
Everything was amazing. Wish we had time to stay more here. Very friendly and courteous owners. They even provided a big water bottle and 2 cups of tea when I asked.
We had laundry and we only stayed one night. So we gave dirty clothes in the morning of our check out. Went exploring. And took the clean dried clothes in the evening. So far the best hotel we stayed in Turkey for the best price.
Good internet. Hot water. Elevator. Parking. Location by the Bazar. Such a delightful stay.
We are a family of 5 on a 9 night trip in Turkey. This was by far our favorite place to stay. The drive up the hill is a little tricky, but a quick call to the host and he will guide you easily. Just beware that they are narrow, bumpy stone streets. The view was incredible and it was so quiet.... except for the stray dogs barking at night! The breakfast was incredible with all freshly made items and a view that cannot be beat. Do not miss this gem!
This place has a lot of traditional charm but is actually a modern (or heavily renovated) building so everything work. We loved the bay window in our room and comfortable bed. Dinner at the restaurant was one of the best meals we had in Turkey. There is a small pool by the restaurant. We didn't use it, but it adds class to the location. Plus carpets everywhere (to buy if you want). Street parking was easy, and the reception helped us pick a space.
The breakfast buffet is very simple. Boiled egg is the only protein offered. Comparing to other places I stayed in Turkey, it's not as good to showcase the Turkish hospitality we warmly received. 👍 But the parking space is ample as it's inside a vocation school. So if you are driving, it's a good choice. It's also very close to the public transportation station.
The front desk lady is very nice.
We are taking a trip around Turkey and so only stayed one night but the hotel was absolutely exceptional. The owner/manager was amazing and the hospitality he and his team offered was incredible and really helpful. The level of service provided was far above our expectations, particularly given the modest price of our stay. Bravo and thank so much for everything. Aaron & Mariam.
The property, room, and views were all gorgeous!! We really loved the Turkish bath in our room and the full closet setup to hang up our clothes. If you eat at the restaurant, definitely try the curry chicken. It was probably my favorite meal in all of Turkey. I really loved the mythology theme to the hotel and the view of town at night was beautiful. It was such a great stay!
I was in this hotel 8 years ago and I visited it again. In the meantime, the hotel has been completely renovated. The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. Parking in front of the hotel. A few steps from St. John's Basilica. Beautiful terrace with a view (including some rooms ) on the Temple of Artemis. The breakfast is solid and usual for smaller hotels in Turkey
Beautiful hotel, warm staff, wonderful breakfast, great lounge spaces by the pool (which was a bit cool for our delicate selves). Located right next to the (ruins of the) Basilica St John, and 750m walk from the Temple of Artemis. A short walk down the hill into “downtown” Selçuk. Bed comfy, great shower. Lots of clothes storage, a safe for passports etc.
Beautiful hotel centrally located in the heart of Selçuk, few steps walking to Basilica of St. Johns and few minutes driving to Ephesus, Temple of Artemis and other attractions. Very friendly owner, good breakfast, clean and comfortable room/beds. I wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommended.
Best breakfast we had in Turkey! Ali and his wife are lovely hosts, they really go out of their way to improve your experience in town. The restaurant Ali owns is amazing and cheap as well. Room was very nice and comfortable, had a traditional vibe to it. Well located in town. Definitely recommend.
One of our best stays in Turkey! Tastefully decorated and spacious room, with a modern bathroom. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. Good location, walking distance from interesting sights like the museum and St John basilica. Ephesus is an easy 10 minutes drive away.
The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk from Selcuk bus station and a little over 10 minutes walk from Selcuk train station, buses to Istanbul/Izmir/Denizli and Dolmus to Ephes can be accessed from the bus station; the freshly cooked breakfast on the terrace was delicious
Really beautiful antique hotel. Staff was helpful and kind. Shower got really hot which was nice after a long day of walking. Breakfast was delicious. So many options. And the coffee was amazing as well. Best I had during my entire trip in Turkey!
The Vinifera exceeded our expectations. It was by far the best hotel we found in our 3 weeks visit to Turkey. Excellent setting, meals, and services. Congrats guys
