Amazing city. We had high expectations and it exceeded them.
Amazing city. We had high expectations and it exceeded them. We truly had great holidays. Little not here: we went in April and it seems to be the best time to go according to all the local people we talked to. Everyday, it was between 23-25 degrees and sunny, but the city was not super crowded because it was not yet high season.

The bells ringing hourly drove us mental.
The bells ringing hourly drove us mental. Charging 35 euro to walk the wall and 29 euro for a six minute cabe car ride are both extortionate.
It's a nice city but food and drinks are pricey compared to other places.
Somewhere to visit on a day trip not stay for a week like we did.

Dubrovnik is expensive.
Dubrovnik is expensive. About 50% to 100% as expensive as other Croatian places (Split, Zadar, etc.).
But in contrast to other Croatian cities, it did not lose its population. So, you have a specific spirit of the place. In history, their specialty was trade, diplomacy, spying and corruption.
In modern times, this translates into a city where waiters learn foreign languages during winter, where tourism is not without limits (noise is controlled, bags with wheels forbidden, etc.) and where the staff is attentive and trying to connect with the tourists.
So, expensive but I would say worth it.

The hotel property is amazing (sun gardens)....everything is at the property (restaurants, spa, and bookings for excursions if needed) - just a couple of hiccups: water kettle wasn't working so I called reception and they brought us a brand new one. The air conditioning wasn't working and still didn't get fixed - gladly we weren't in the high & hot season. Ok, my review on Dubrovnik: Gorgeous and clean area. food prices are EXPENSIVE....after speaking to other people, it's 50/50 on location. Some say Old town is more expensive and when we went there, prices were still high but in comparison to the hotel and outskirts, cheaper. We got scammed there with the rental car: Goldcar - lost 65bucks and then had to rent a car with another agency for about 170. Also, at the end of our stay after pre-paying our hotel, they charge a 7 euro daily "city tax" fee. I just feel like instead of relaxing, I had to triple check every charge. Driving there is crazy. Drivers are very aggressive...nearly hit us and saw a near collision with a pedestrian (older gentleman). There are a lot of speed cameras so we were cautious. One lady had her change at a gas station thrown at her because she was questioning a 35c charge (after she ordered her coffee) for the cup...yes, 35c for the cup. She's a tourist so she didn't bring her Stanley or a cup. It's like ordering a soft drink at McDonalds and at the end, they charge you an extra 35c. Didn't make sense. Folks weren't that friendly (except for a rare few).....all in all....if you have disposable income and are a huge fan of Game of Thrones, then go there and you'll have a blast. It was a one time event for us, we had fun as a family but won't go back.

Dubrovnik is a beautiful place with striking mountains and a wonderful, tightly packed Old Town.
We have returned from 7 days there and, frankly 7 days in not needed to see the sights - 3 or 4 would be sufficient.
Be aware that almost all of the tourist sights are in the Old Town, which gets very busy. We went in April and it was busy, I dread to think what it is like in the summer months.
The food everywhere we ate in Dubrovnik was delicious. There are lots of food options with many restaurants offering a good range of choice.

Superb historical town dubrovnik pass well worth buying we had 7 day pass one visit to main monuments much cheaper than separately went self catering apartment food in restaurants poor value for money quite busy even in early April but possible to avoid the crowds astour groups generally gone by mid afternoon
This appartment was better than many 5 star hotels. Exceeded all expectations and was outstanding.
It had all the ammenities needed even more. Many freebies and gifts from the host.
The room was very high-end, in an amazing location exactly in the center of old town, with great view to the clock tower, cable car mountain, the wall, and monestry.
Toilet and bath are very premium (villeroy and bosch)
The design of the room was very modern and special, we wanted to stay in the room the whole trip 😁😁.
I go to Dubrovnik every year. Sometimes I stay in exceptional hotels. This apartment equals those in quality and comfort.
Like those hotels it has thee view, yet it exceeds those with a magical balcony - garden included that makes this place superb and superior. The host is a noble and kind lady. It is an exclusive apartment closest to the old town from Ploče direction to my knowledge. Beach and supermarkets a few steps away. Quiet. Planning to keep returning there.
A great location by the beach. The nearest supermarket is a ten minute walk away along the sea front. Uber is incredibly efficient and cheap so you pop into the old town in Dubrovnik whenever you want (although the journey can take 20+ minutes if the traffic is bad). There's a lovely beach bar (Ponat) a one minute walk away and some fancier hotel beach clubs/bars/restaurants (Coral/Copacabana) another five or ten minutes walk after that.
Amazing hotel! Karla (the host) was brilliant, very friendly and gave us lots of recommendations. The hotel room was very modern and clean, with luxury toiletries. Hotel is right in the centre of Old Town so everything was on our doorstep. Less than 5 min walk to the entrance for the City Walls. Will definitely be recommending this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Dubrovnik. Thank you Karla for such an enjoyable stay!
Host Vlaho was super helpful - met me in central Dubrovnik to give me keys and show me around, and came to the apartment for check out.
Apartment perfectly situated in the old town. So glad we chose this rather than an out of town hotel.
Everything in the apartment was clean and beautifully presented, the beds were super comfy and the two bedrooms both good sizes with option of double or two single beds.
The Rixos is an amazing hotel, the views are incredible and is within walking distance of the Old Town (around 4 euro using Uber). The food was exceptional (we stayed half board) as was the service we received. The hotel was clean and the facilities are as you would expect of a 5 star hotel. The Spa was lovely and was totally worth a visit. A wonderful and memorable stay and we can't wait to go back.
Beautiful apartment with a stunning view. It Exceeded our expectations and had everything we needed. Pool was amazing, everything was clean and hosts couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. Restaurants and bars within walking distance. We used eco tuk tuk tours to view Dubrovnik old town and surrounding area. Also Recommend hotel more for dinner as very close.
Calm however very well located (20mins by walk from the city center, closest beach is within 5 mins). Host is very nice and flexible. We did not know when we booked but the apartments are shared with Nuns whom taking care about the garden and live there generally. It was amazing, we got Blessed when we left. None of the 5 star luxury hotels have this service :)
My fiancé and I stayed here after we had already had our fill of Old Town Dubrovnik, where we stayed for a few nights. The property of this hotel is beautiful and the staff are extremely accommodating. We also enjoyed the location of this hotel, since you can walk along the paseo all the way to a strip of restaurants. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Comfortable, clean, quiet rooms with a good view. The location of the hotel is perfect, 2 minutes from the bus stop which takes you to the Old Town (bus no. 6). Everything is handled with a smile, I had a very warm welcome and they were helpful to prepare my room before the checkin time. I strongly recommend this hotel if you plan to stay in Dubrovnik.
This property was one of the cleanest I have ever stayed in. The owner had it fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was a 10-15 minute walk into the old town. The best part of the property was the balcony and the views. We stayed with 4 kids and 2 adults and it was perfect. I would stay here again if coming back to Dubrovnik.
Good location - not too far to walk into Dubrovnik old town and away from the main road so nice and peaceful, right next to a 5 star hotel. Really friendly owners who live 2 floors above the property and who gave us useful advice on arrival. Property was very good value for money and we enjoyed the outside terrace area.
Apartment was perfect. Super clean and got all you nead for pleasent stay. All apartment is excelent and you felt like you stay in luxury 5 star hotel. Owner of the apartment was so helpful and provide me all important information about Dubrovnik and route to apartment. Thank you so much.
Hrvoje, Zagreb
The staff, room size and proximity to transportation (
bus, ferries) , very good breakfast with
some made to order items. The fact that it is not
near old town to me is plus because old town is
just so crowded and crazy.
And the Dubrovnik brewing company is about
a 200 m walk from the front door!
It is very afordable, location is great. There are many buses you can take from location of hotel to the old town. If you are planning to go to.other places around the Dubrovnik, this is a great place to catch a bus, taxi or to go from with your own ride. Easy to find and easy to go around.
Cozy apartment right outside Old Town with quick access to markets and restaurants.
For everybody looking for a parking spot, the best choice is Dubrovnik Daily Parking with prior reservation and not the parking right next to the apartment because the price gap is just insane.
We book a room and we were given an amazing suite with 2 bathroom and a living room with a balcony. The room was done every day. The walk to Lapad was beautiful and with lots of restaurant options. The bus stop to Dubrovnik old town is a 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
Being inside of old town Dubrovnik, within the city walls, the location of the hotel is hands down the best feature. It allows for early morning walks within the city before the mad cruise line rush and for those late nights out.
AMAZING place!!! For anyone looking for a 5-star hotel in Dubrovnik, very close to Old Town (5 minute walk), with stunning views of the bay and Old Town, and superb staff, the Excelsior hotel is the answer.
Rixos is one of the top luxury hotels in Dubrovnik for many reasons. Located near the Old Town, you have fantastic views of the Adriatic with amenities that are very modern.
