Small town but very pleasant. It has everything you need for a fun and relaxing vacation. Various activities can be done: cruises, excursions, quad safaris, snorkeling, scuba diving, etc. Being located in a bay, the sea water is very calm and ideal for swimming. Sandy, clean beaches. Tasty dishes at restaurants.

Balion is a very crowded , popular coastal town in Crete but once you park at the hotel you can just walk down the (steep) stairs to the little beach. It is a quiet location so perfect to sit and take in the view. We do get tired of hiring sunbeds to add to our holiday exenses and unfortunately there is only a tiny patch of sand to relax on. The jet skies get prime waterfront position too but once in the water, it is calm and very enjoyable. We stayed 2 nights, probably 4 would have been better to enjoy the views and atmosphere. Beautiful place but need to know how to get to hotels.
Beautiful place but need to know how to get to hotels. There is a bus stop in the hill above the town so you need to wait for mini train into town unless you want to walk down hill into to town 20-30 minutes depending on your hotel local. I think there is only one taxi in town so they could be busy when you arrive,

Balion is basically a few little areas dotted along the coast. Each area has restaurants and hotels and a few shops. You can walk between a couple but for the ones further away you'll need a car or can use the small on road train service which runs every hour and is very cheap. Mambo is a great choice to eat. There's also a great place at the very top of the hill - in a secluded bay with only 2 tavernas. Its the half way point on the train. The taverna furthest from the steps is the one to pick!

A stunner was the terrace with an amazing view over the Bay of Bali. In our opinion, some of the other highlights of this hotel are the pool area on the rooftop, the hotel-owned cliff with queen size sunbeds, the SUP and kayak to use free of charge for hotel guests, and the super friendly staff. We felt very welcomed and would recommend this hotel especially to younger couples who are looking for a relaxing stay.

They offer some of the most beautiful views in the area. All of their rooms are spacious and beds actually comfortable. The host is very kind and attentive.
