A beautiful little Island just a short ferry trip from Athens with access to other Islands like Hydra.
Lot's of small shops, mini-marts, restaurants etc -plenty of choice to eat out.
Lovely walks - if you hire a car you can visit the main places in a day or two.

Poros is one of the most underrated islands of Greece, indeed. It's very small but beautiful, serene, calm , clean, quite and picturesque. Only 1hr 15minutes ferry travel from Piraeus port of Athens. There are lots of restaurants, caffe, supermarkets, shops. All types of food are available there including Greek food specially. People are welcoming, friendly and very generous. If needed laundry shops are there too. The clock tower is an added area where people can go see the entire island from bird's view. It's not so expensive like Mykonos and Santorini. But one can get the flavours of Santorini or Mykonos there. As a whole it's worth visiting Poros.

Calm, non touristy. Good food.
Calm, non touristy. Good food. Easy to walk or get a cab anywhere. We were off season (late September) and came by ferry for a few days break from Athens but have been before in high season in our yacht and it was good then too. Ate at Dimitris and Apagio Tavern, great meat and fish at the market, good coffee and lunch at clock cafe, good bakery and great ice cream and helpful pharmacy in the square by the meat and fish market.

Poros is an authentic, laidback Greek island, which also happens to be a major stop-off for yacht charters and flotillas. But, if you're not a yachtie, (we're not) they don't spoil the feel too much.
Only a few paces away from the yacht berths, you can find ouzeries where they still give you proper, free mezes with your drink, as you watch the old boys play backgammon and shoot the breeze. Or you can relax in more upmarket, restaurants and bars - but you've come to Greece, be more Greek! If you're in the square boasting Destino's Kafeneion, the locals' bar next door and Pavlou Shop which sells "plumbing fixtures, beach equipment and church supplies" you're in the right place.

Small but such a beautiful island!
Small but such a beautiful island! green and blue combination! Loved our walks down town at night with the great restaurants and the narrow streets up the hill to the tower Clock to watch the sunset.
We got there by car and took the ferry from Galatas (4-5 mins) to get across.
Favorite beach - "Love" Beach!!

Poros island is fabulous, the views are breathtaking and the geographical features are unique with many small bays and pine-trees that reach the coast. It is really near the Peloponnese peninsula and you can have small trips there e.g. going to Epidaurus or Methana. However, the island is small and the beaches are not sandy. It is worth visiting the capital and have lunch at its restaurants. The top restaurant, to my mind, is Poseidon.
It is easy to get around Poros mainly by taxi or by small boats.
A really amazing find here on Poros. It's not super far from the town (40 minute walk, 10 minute bike, 3 minute taxi for 6€). Frida is super friendly and approachable. The apartment is a stones throw from the beach, where you have sunbeds that you can lay on for free. The taverna next door makes good, affordable, local food.
Also poros is a pretty small island so you can rent a bike and ride the whole loop in a day. This would be my number one choice if I come back to Poros.
Our hosts were welcoming and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable with everything needed for an overnight stay on Poros. Very conveniently located for the ferries both across from Galatas and to Idra island. Despite being quite central it was quiet. There was also a cafe very close for an early breakfast before getting on the ferry. A bonus was also having a proper (Nespresso) coffee machine in the room with pods provided although we took our own.
I loved and absolutely enjoyed the stay. I am remembering my room number to come back and request for that particular room the next time. I remember it as magical experience, and would like to stay there for a week next time, as now it was just 1 night. It felt like a family resort, no fuss, just a minimalist relax. And the simplicity did not overpower the beauty of nature, which was abundant there at the hotel. Calm, beautiful, on your own.
The location is very near to the ferry port. You do not have to walk up the steep and narrow streets of Poros to get to your 'home' after a long day at the beach. It is easily accessible. The house was very clean, had a nice sized fridge and enough kitchen amenities. The house had a lovely balcony/terrace to enjoy breakfast or an aperitif in the evenings. The hosts were kind and helpful and always smiling.
Our hostess Niki was very helpful. We travelled here in Winter, just after Christmas, so it was out of season holiday time. Inspite of this, some restaurants were open, but many shops were closed.
Our room was very nice. Sea View was amazing. Idyllic place to relax. Reasonably priced.
We also took a ferry to Hydra island from here....so Poros also serves as a base to visit other interesting places.
Formerly prestigious hotel facing Poros town, good sized rooms most with great sea views and very quiet. The hotel is a 20-30 minute walk (most of it on a busy road) from the town but there is also a delightfully rustic boat service a few times a day... There is a private pool (small, and not too well equiped) and a semi-private beach but you have to pay and its simply not clean enough...
My room was spacious clean and comfy with an amazing view. The host Nicky was very sweet, kind and hospitable!! She arranged for some help with my heavy luggage which I was very greatful for. The location is central to everything with lots of places to eat and drink.
I really enjoyed my time in Poros.
The view from the front rooms is stunning! Best location on the island to move around… and the flying cats from either Piraeus or Hydra/Spetses arrive and depart just outside the hotel. We received the warmest welcome by the hosts who even gave us tips on where to go and what to see.
> Excellent breakfast with incredible view (even better than from Clock Tower of Poros)!
> Comfortable bed
> Hotel is not far away from port (10' by foot) and located in a calm neighbourhood, but the staircase leading to the hotel might be a challenge for certain persons.
the host was incredibly kind and helpful, gave us a lot of gifts when we arrived, some wine and oranges and helped us with general info about the island. the place was ideally located near town and far away enough for peace. and what a view!!! wowwwww!!
Awesome view in one of poros most famous bays (Neorio). The most relaxing bed I've slept into ever! Nice spacious room and balcony! There are quiet beach bars in walking distance from the room where you can enjoy clear waters and coctails!
Cosy family hotel who care about their guests. Nice and clean room with balcony and nice swimming pool. Lovely breakfast!
10 minutes walk to towncenter. A lot of beaches in neighbourhood.
Poros is a lovely island!
The cleanliness of Villa Dolphins was 10/10 Yianna and her staff were very pleasant and could not do enough for you, me and the wife were very happy there and Poros is 100% a beautiful Island to visit.
The hotel is close to the port of Poros and some good restaurants. Also, there is not a lot of noise.
The room and the views were lovely.
The personnel was very helpful and kind with us all the time.
Beautiful house with a lot of charm and great sea views. 30min walk from Poros town. Hosts graciously allowed us to adjust the checkin/checkout dates even after free cancellation period was over.
Great view of Poros town from our room and the whole property. Beautiful and green surroundings.little private beach with sun-beds and umbrellas. Good rooms typical of big hotels.
A cosy hotel near the beaches, really peaceful but at a walking distance from the city center. The staff is amazing, dear people that make you feel at home.
