Stunning Split stands proudly on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, and due to its great climate is called the Mediterranean Flower. It features eclectic architecture, spectacular views and delicious cuisine.
Split is centered around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian, a magnificent building constructed at the beginning of the 4th century AD and featuring limestone and marble towers, columns and courtyards. It lies in a bay decorated with white sails of yachts, as sailing is definitely Split’s big thing!
The city is full of architectural gems, one of which is St. Duje’s Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in the world, built in 305 AD and combining both Roman and Catholic influences. Nearby Varoš is a must-see, one of the city’s oldest parts, full of charming streets and beautiful houses.
Make sure you visit the Bačvice Beach and the Riva promenade, popular with locals and full of cafés and palm trees. While on the hunt for local specialities, try soparnik - wood fired dough filled with vegetables - or local soft drinks Pipi and Orela.
So just pack your bags and head to Split Airport! Booking.com has plenty of sunny apartments, friendly guest houses and well-equipped hotels for your Split adventure.

We travelled to Split in December in low season so did not have lots of tourists around at this time and made it easy to see attractions. Rented a car and went to Plitvice National Park, Klis Fortress, Salona ancient village, the village of Vid where an ancient roman museum is of Roman Emperor Alexander the Great is located, and to Trogir and the Ciovino Island adjacent to Trogir. Xmas lights and festivities were happening all round the Old City. Had some great weather to enjoy these wonderful sites. Not many guided tours were available at this time so a rented car was very useful, and street parking was relatively easy to find because of low season. Any paid parking was 20-25 Euro per day, so happy to avoid that.

Split was an amazing place, great restaurants and a very interesting old town. We loved staying near the port with a great view, there was a lot of activity to sit and watch, cruise ships and ferries come and go. It was perfect.
Split is a very walkable cit’s and there opportunities to visit the beautiful islands from there.

Beautiful seaside resort steeped in ancient history.
Beautiful seaside resort steeped in ancient history. In 5 days, we took a rickshaw ride to get started; walked through Diocletian Palace and Riva; enjoyed horseback ride at Podstrana; ziplining at Mt. Kozjak; and half-day speedboat ride to 3 islands including Trogir. Also took a half-day road trip to Krka National Park. Ate at restaurants along the Riva - al good. Look for free parking on street or low priced in public parking lots.

Wonderful location especially for small kids as the pedestrian zone offers lots for safe exploration. Good food especially once you get off the Riva waterfront to side areas with local restaurants and fresh seafood. Stay away from the cruise ship focused promenade as its 'ok' food and also quite a bit pricier for what you get. For kids, the Zoo (petting Zoo really) and the Maritime museum were big highlights.
The location could not be better. By crossing the road you will get to the old town. Bus station/Airport shuttle bus is located within 5 minutes walk. The place is rather quiet and rooms are cute and clean. Also an excellent place for remote workers to stay. The owner is very nice as I got sick during my trip and needed some help. He will also be able to give you great recommendations on where to eat and what to see in the city. I could not give a better recommendation to this place!I had a great stay in Croatia!Thank you!
This apartment is a true gem in Split. We loved how spacious and clean it was. Moreover, it is equipped with everything you might need for your stay. The position is lovely, in the heart of the old town and close to the port. I truly loved the small church in front of the apartment; it made it very characteristic. A special mention to the host, who was always available for our requests or needs. I genuinely hope to be back someday to experience more of Croatia and the kindness of the host of Bernard's apartment.
At first upon approaching the building it looked very old and in need of repair. But as I got closer I realized the building, like the cities in many European countries, while they are old, they’re beautiful. Our room was very clean and beautifully decorated. The location was close to the forest that has beaches on trails and just wanted to blocks away from the beginning of the old town. I highly recommend the Tramonto call and will stay there should I have the pleasure of returning to Croatia.
Excellent apartment with great location located near city center and old town as well, extremely clean & comfortable with an amazing view to city of Split.
Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the friendly host Mario, he makes our trip more interesting with his advices & tips about the city, supermarket, shops, restaurants, bars are within walking distance. We already recommend this apartment to our friends who are visiting Croatia and Split this summer.
The location is perfect! The terrace is nice, we enjoyed sitting out early in the morning and evenings.
Our host gave us water bottle and a bottle of red wine. I thought that was nice, especially you have to pay for water bottle everywhere you go in Croatia. Even though in general water from the sink/water fountains are good for drinking, the restaurants and cafes don't give you tap water, they give you bottled water and it's not cheap.
I love the quirky Croatian theme and all the artifacts, murals and lighting. The apartment has everything you need and the bed is really comfortable. The owner, Sandro, is really welcoming and I felt totally safe as a solo female traveller. The location is perfect, it’s a ten minute walk to the old town and is quiet at night. The roof terrace is great and I made some lovely new friends up there who were staying in the other apartments.
May be one of best hotel in hardware, New building, new interior, great balcony, sea view in croatia, surely nr. 1 in split, 20 Meter walk to beach. Food sector is the best part of hotel management at this time, good team, best food, great breakfast better then kempinski. At lunch time, New honest staff provide good service and really good food Even without enough printed Manu.
We really enjoyed our stay at Priska Heritage rooms. We hadn't stayed at a small "rooms" hotel in Croatia until this point, and we were very happy with the experience. Elena was very responsive and helpful both before and during our trip. The rooms themselves were very nicely designed and renovated. The location was also perfect too, just outside the old town but close.
It felt like home. Best stay in Croatia (better than hotels that I stayed). Fridge had beer, ham slices, cheese slices, butter, juice etc. Kitchen had sugar, Nescafe coffee, kettel, dishes, cutlery and glasses. Cupboard had clothes drying rack and cleaning and washing machine products. It also had a sewing kit, scissors, first aid kit and some extra plasters!
Had a great stay at Four Elements, the host was very helpful! Gave us lots of tips on where to go, things to do and places to eat
The room was comfy, clean and had aircon which is essential in the Croatian heat
The apartment is also a short 10min walk to old town which was great, we were out there most nights
Lovely old hotel with a great breakfast. Host(s) were wonderful and very accommodating with our room switch. Rooms were very large and beds were very comfortable. Nice location out of the busy city centre but close enough for a walk. Dinner at the hotel was one of the best meals we had in Croatia!
this is a beautiful location in the heart of Diocletian’s Palace. in fact one of its walls was a wall to the vestibul of the palace.
if you want a guide ask the hotel to arrange for Dino Ivancic a professor of history and voted “Croatia’s best guide.” truly exceptional and fascinating!
Lovely spa, excellent massage by Iris. Modern hotel, super clean and friendly staff. One of the best breakfast buffets I’ve had in a hotel and certainly the best in Croatia. Although outside the old city an easy walk to all the sites. Huge free parking space too.
My sister and I stayed here upon our arrival to Croatia. Andrea was a hilarious, charming and welcoming appearance and a wonderful welcome to the country. The hotel is gorgeous, staff so welcome, and could not be more perfectly situated. We will be back!
Close to centre, everything was 5min away. Nights were quiet. Rooms were clean and light. Staff was really helpful and friendly. Breakfast tasty. We are glad that our experience of Croatia started with this hotel.
Everything. perhaps the highlight stay for our time in Croatia. Easily accessible, within the old town walls of Split. Great restaurant right below us. You can tell the host/owners really cared.
Location is very good, right in the city centre of old Split. Nice roof terrace to have breakfast or to relax. It has airconditioning which is necessary in sunny Croatia.
Position of hotel is the best. Facilities are great. Staf is above Croatian standard, much more above. Breakfast was excellent. Pool very warm, sauna very hot, etc.
