Salem is a great little city with so much historical significance, beautiful old homes and a fantastic museums. If you have the time, it is well worth a side trip.
Mercy Tavern is also a great spot, lovely food, cocktails and staff.
I wanted to go to Salem since I was a child, 30 years later I finally made it. You won't be disappointed.

Anybody that is in to the type of stuff in Salem would love it. Could spend a week there just looking at all the shops. Then you have the tours and self guided paths, you really just have to research what you are into.

Salem is a fun place to visit.
Salem is a fun place to visit. Lots of attractions and activities to keep you busy. Food was great and many places to choose from. We liked Reds, Dire Wolf Tavern and Carmel Patisserie.
I would highly recommend any time of year because of the variety of attractions and places to visit. The Witch Dungeon Museum and the Witch House were among my favorites to visit.
Awesome place for a girls get away. We were able to walk everywhere and see what we wanted. The boutiques and shopping were awesome.
We also did a Psychic Reading and a Witches Circle and Witch City Walking tour. We loved all of them. I would definitely come back and do them again.

The history of Salem is just so..
The history of Salem is just so.. Interesting, colorful, fasinating, rewarding and a little sad. What human beings can doing to each other is unbelievable in both evil and good ways.
We stayed at the Salem INN and loved it. Ate at Turners, Rockafellas and some other places that slip my mind. These two were great.
Used the trolly and walked alot.

The museums moved along quickly and provided a hood educational background of the Salem Witch trials. I purchased a multi pass ahead of time, which I usually do to offset expenses/time when vacationing. Suggest you book ahead the tour of The House of Seven Gables. There were plenty of good restaurants to choose from and all staff at each eatery were more than pleasant and excellent wait staff. I would not recommend for families with children younger than 10/12, and unfortunately the museums are not intended for those with physical handicaps (steep wooden staircases which lend to historical preservation).

WE LOVED IT BEING LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF SQUARE.
WE LOVED IT BEING LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF SQUARE. WE TOOK THE TROLLY AND ENJOYED THE HISTORY . WE LOVE THE RESTERAUNT CALLED FINNS EATING BY THE WATER, ALSO GULU CAFE WONDERFUL AND THE HOME OWNED SHOPS WITH FRESH BREAD AND LOCAL VEGGIES! ALSO THE ROOF TOP BAR WAS AWESOME AT SALEM INN
The Coach House is slightly removed from downtown Salem. The posh amenities and decor were fabulous, and certainly made up for two minute drive to downtown Salem/museum area or to wharf for delicious dinner. The communication between concierge & myself regarding access were timely and seem less. There were an abundance of towels and my “tween” niece felt like a Princess between decor & luxe linens etc. I hard ordered the t-shirt as a little bonus “birthday” gift for my young niece.
It is conveniently located by the water next to everything. The staff was extremely pleasant, helpful. The room as well as the hotel was very clean. There was a restaurant downstairs which was convenient. There is also parking which is needed at the time of year we were there. We will definately stay here when we come back. Over all- with some minor "suggestions", I would definately recommend staying here!
The history of the house is just amazing, and the room we had (Marion room) was gorgeous. The host was a really interesting guy and we had a great chat with him. The bnb is in a great location for the heart of Salem village too, close to the wharf and maritime history part while still being close to the shops and restaurants.
The best part of this hotel is the location. It's right downtown, so we could walk everywhere. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean. The underground garage was well lit and secure, with employees always around. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Salem.
The location is great! It is very walkable to food, coffee shops, downtown, etc. The room was large and comfortable and everything was very clean. The staff was very friendly as well. Parking is convenient and overall the hotel is beautiful!
Wonderfull atmosphere with attention to detail exceptional
Complementary breakfast and snack items appreciated
Beautifully presented heritage building and rooms
Staff exceptional
Truly a boutique hotel
Great location
Rooms held original era charm as did entire hotel. Beds comfortable. Was able to walk everywhere from the hotel. Complimentary Tea, Coffee and bottled water was awesome. Staff was extraordinarily.
The location was right in downtown Salem. We did a Bewitched After Dark walking tour that started just a few yards from the hotel. The room was perfectly adequate for the night we were there.
Great location in the heart of Salem (across the street from the Common and the Hawthorne Hotel event space).
The owners were friendly.
The historic space is beautifully cared for.
I loved how central The Merchant is located from everything in Salem.
I absolutely loved the aesthetic of the hotel and the breakfast scones! This place was cozy and fun.
