Jersey City - I would stay in Newport, Jersey City again.
Jersey City - I would stay in Newport, Jersey City again. I've stayed NYC but would only stay in Jersey City in the future. Jersey City is clean, modern and reflects the calmer side of life rather than getting caught up in the noise of NYC. Great transport links to NYC by PATH, ferry and bus.
The shopping mall had some great restaurants and eateries offering rustic bread sandwiches, salad bowls and ramen bowls.
There's an Indian grocery store on 10th Street offering THE VERY BEST Indian food I've ever tasted. It's a must do while you're in Newport.

We decided to stay in jersey city after a day in New York as it was very quick travel and got us closer to Liberty State Park for the next day. To find a hotel with free parking and access to our car was key. Not having to drag your suitcase down the streets from your payed parking spot was a nice luxury to have. Jersey city is only 6 miles from midtown Manhattan and 6 miles from Liberty state park. After the statue of liberty, Jersey city has a KPot which is a must try or go if you've been before! AYCE!!!!

If you want to visit Manhattan every day the PATH (basically a metro, going to Jersey) is the way to go if you will use public transport.
BUT! If you are a foreigner check first how the foreign credit/debit cards work (or better to say how they are not) with the ticket wending machines.... they are funny things and usually do not accept cash.

We actually visited NYC for most of our stay, but it was a nice convenient option to balance the cost of staying right in the city, and easy access into the city. The people in the area (beyond just the hotel staff) were nice, friendly, and helpful. Enjoyed the stay!

For me as a visitor from Europe Jersey City is the perfect place to stay when visiting NYC. On one hand you have this marvelous view of downtown Manhattan - on the other hand you have a lot of shopping options at the nearby mall within Jersey City. Taking a boat trip to Manhattan and back is wonderful. Jersey City is a lot less stressful than Manhattan as a place to stay overnight. I love it here.

It was a great cheaper alternative to staying in NYC.
It was a great cheaper alternative to staying in NYC. We were going to a concert at the Brooklyn Steel pier so with traffic it was about 40 minutes to get there on a Saturday night, but we hung out in Brooklyn for a while before the show. In the morning, we went to Liberty State Park and saw the Statue of Liberty and a 911 memorial (you can take the ferry from this park to the Statue of Liberty) The bathrooms at this park were very well kept and the whole park was big and beautiful. On the way back home we stopped at Wonder Bagels which was crowded but worth the wait. Lots of shops around and it looks like a lot is being done to enhance the area.
The hotel was super comfortable, we booked it to stay close to a wedding we were in town for. Lots of practical little details as USB chargers and multiple light switches for different areas easily accessible from the bed. The location was also great with easy access to the Path train to go to Manhattan and also just a couple minutes from the Hudson River to enjoy the views of NYC and take the ferry. Highly recommended!
The hotel is in a perfect location, if you don’t want to drive into NYC and avoid traffic and expensive bridges. The PATH train which takes you into the city is around the corner from the hotel. There’s also a water front walkway right next to the hotel, which it can be very useful for a perfect weather walk. The hotel is definitely much cheaper than hotels in New York City. I would recommend.
First time to NY not on a planned bus trip. Driving to the property and parking the car couldn’t have been easier and the traffic of Manhattan was avoided. The Path train to the World Trade Center was literally 100yds from the front door of the hotel which made travel into and out of the City super easy. Free breakfast is always a plus and makes dinner the only full meal needed to purchase.
Nestled in the heart of Jersey City, this inviting hotel boasts an enviable location just a stone's throw away from Journal Square, your gateway to convenient travel with the Path Train. With affordability as one of its greatest attributes, the hotel offers a balanced and fair expectation for your stay, ensuring you enjoy a comfortable and enjoyable experience without breaking the bank.
Very friendly staff, comfortable room, and location is in a good area. I have stayed here a few times before and always had a pleasant stay. Great value and it's close to NYC but there's also a lot of great things to do in Jersey City. I love the hotel staff and they are very welcoming and friendly. Will definitely stay here again.
The location was good for Jersey City. Convenient to a liquor/wine store, food delivery and gas station. The beds were some of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in, we wanted to bring them home with us. The hotel was extremely clean and when we called down for more towels they were delivered within 15 minutes.
The price is really cheaper compare to Manhattan hotels. The rooms are rather large for a standard hotel, which was convenient for our family of 4. The hotel is located nearby amenities (mall, train) so it's quite convenient to reach downtown from this point.
Ms. April was so nice and let us check in a bit early. so grateful because we had been up since 0430 driving in from Mystic Ct.
perfect for anyone visiting Ellis and Liberty islands. easy access to experience Jersey City and Hoboken.
Ms. Viktoria at the front desk was very professional and made me feel satisfied as a guest despite the many challenges at this hotel. The location is quite close to the subway station and only a few stops to the heart of NYC.
Nice feeling of space, loads of equipment, free coffee/laundry, the view on the Skyline, the friendliness of the staff, the foodcourt 5/10 min walk away, the calm of Jersey City vs Manhattan.
It’s a solid, standard hotel experience with a free breakfast that is decent. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are spacious, and the staff is friendly and accommodating.
excellent location next to subway station for easy access to Manhattan. jersey City a pleasant and peaceful area. all the benefits of New York with a little peace and quiet.
The Holland Hotel was really clean. The staff were helpful and there was plenty of cold breakfast. Our room was facing the busy road but the soundproofing was excellent.
